Didnt they announce Star ocean would be multiplatform already? Thought they did. Tales game was not announced yet, but it wouldnt be surprising if it was on both console like most game.
    It wasn't, 100%.

And yeah ES is a great game. I played it twice including all side quests etc., really entertaining game. (and omg Salsa is the best character ever in battle AND in cutscenes, mirite? )
Salsa is amazing, her and Viola are easily my favorite characters in the game, Xavier plays Jazz all the time. =x At first we were just taking turns with the controller but we figured out you can have different people control different characters during battles. Although, we shit talk to each other even though we're on the same side so.... >_>
lol, my party consisted of Retto, Salsa, and Viola throughout my entire 2nd playthrough and it was amazing... my first group was Retto, Jazz, and Polka (for healing, which I didn't really need my 2nd playthrough cus I learned how to block almost everything and everyone.)

I go crazy when Nikkei removes Jazz from the party.

I've enjoyed the game a lot, but the story is definitely its weakest part. Not because its a bad story, I've actually enjoyed it, but because a lot of the developments are predictable. I find myself looking at Nikkei and telling her how sad this characters "sudden but inevitable betrayal" will be.

I can also somewhat accurately predict the game design (of most JRPG anyway), by telling Nikkei that even though we're headed to point A, there will be an inevitable crisis there, which will force us to find Person A who can help, but Person A can't help until we find Person B, who was lost at Point B, and then Person B won't come with us until we find Item A, at Point C, which is through Mountain Pass A but the gate is locked, and only Person A knows where the key is, and he'd be glad to give you the key, but he lost it at Point D.

Sometimes I wonder what the game would be like if it took place in a more realistic environment. If someone told me that they couldn't help me until I did a ridiculous task for them, I'd whip out my great sword and threaten to cut their god damn head off. "I don't have time to find the motherfking book of wonder in the cave of despair for you, just open the god damn gate now you son of a bitch."

I only do it because they all have to be the SAME LEVEL OR IT MAKES ME ANGRY. THERE MUST BE BALANCE.

not sure how the Jack Bauer approach would work in a JRPG lol

    certainly hasn't been tried

They level even if they're not in your main group.. granted not as fast, but they do.

And @ Xavier, dunno if you played Enchanted Arms or not, but I actually enjoyed that game too and it was even more predictable (main villian and archrival are introduced within the first 30 minutes, and the dude that helps you throughout the entire game is wearing fucking glasses and a cool shirt but you can tell it's someone you already were introduced to before so it makes it kind of lame heh.) Regardless though, I found both to be pretty entertaining (especially ES because it reminds me of games like Radiata Stories or SO3 as far as the battle system is concerned, which is great.)

    Yeah, we noticed that, which made it somewhat more difficult when we were trying to get Jazz caught up after that one split in Andantino. He was 7 levels lower than everyone else because of a boss fight that gave 80,000 exp. I can't help it, I need to see the same number across the board. ;;

I haven't played Eternal Sonata, but I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels this way about levels in RPGs... it annoys me to no end when levels get spread out. (Unless I don't give a shit about a character, then I don't touch them at all unless I have to.)

I have to do it to the characters I hate too. ;; I have a problem.

I did, and it really wasn't that bad.

Levels aren't so important in FFXII, that's why a 122333 game is possible.

Actually, Xavier and I made 2 teams and played by turns of 2 levels. His team was Vaan, Ashe and Basch and mine was Balthier, Fran and Penelo. So like, you'd play until your team hit 2 levels higher than the other would play.

Pfft, I owned shit before it even got near me. >3 Balthier and Fran shot the crap out of anything that got close and Penelo cured.

Balthier > Vaan, regardless of what stats say. But yeah, Penelo and Fran are gimp.

    Re: Eternal Sonata

I levelled 2 teams on FFXII with my girlfriend similar to Xavier and Nikkei. Ours weren't exclusive to each other, but they were Vaan, Basch & Fran, and Ashe, Penelo and Balthier.

I'm lucky though, my girlfriend actually loves the mindless grinding in FF games, so I got to do the story with six characters levelled, switching them in and out made stuff like Fafnir easy to do fairly low level.

Vaan owns as a tank, I didn't level my reserve chars but I did kit them out with awesome armour so if my main team got screwed I could still win the fight

See Xav, it's not just me! >O I don't mind the grinding and I did it in Eternal Sonata as well. Xav had to go out with his mom somewhere so I popped it in and ran around a zone the whole time leveling everyone.

Actually, it made the game a lot more enjoyable, because no character got overpowered and made the game boring/easy (well, until I reached the end of the story). Always nice to see every character in action too
