Okay, those are small twists though... I was aiming more towards the "holy shit did that just happen?!" twists... And yes, (spoilers incoming) finding out Reddas was a judge, the whole conversation/speech with Dr. Cid, the whole Basch/Gabranth storyline up there, and Reddas sacrificing himself was all win.

Since it was compared to Tactics, can you tell me what were the big twist in that game? You guys said Tactics had much better character and political story, so I'm asking you, what made that game better? I remember loving every bit of the game, but I don't remember any "holy shit" moment, except maybe for the encounter against 15 overpowered mnk. >_> Well, the first encounter against a Zodiac would probably count as one, but almost everything else I can think about is long discussion and people picking side.

What made Tactics so good for me were the different opinions clashing, the treason of friends and the complex political world. Same goes for FFXII

How long did it take you guys to beat Eternal Sonata?

    Re: Eternal Sonata

I don't have the game in front of me, but I believe it took around 28 hours for Nikkei and I, including the extra/optional dungeon at the end. That dungeon took me quite a while to beat though, I think without it we would've been done in closer to 23-24 hours.

Haven't had a chance to go back and play the New Game + yet, but that should naturally increase the overall playtime quite a bit, and I plan to do it sooner or later for the achievements.

    Re: Eternal Sonata

2 Full playthroughs together probably took me about 50 hours (and that includes killing everything I saw in the Unison (extra dungeon))

Gotta do very specific things in the 1st playthrough to be able to get all the achievements in the 2nd playthrough, like collecting all the scores possible, etc. so depending on whether or not you did that already, 2 more playthroughs would boost your total playtime even more.

Very good game though, and extremely fun.

It got announced over a year ago and it's only just got a Japanese release date with no confirmation of if it's even coming out in English. So who knows when the PS3 version will come out.

That said, the only differences that's been shown are selectable outfits for all the characters and 2 new playable characters (they're not entirely new, they both play a part in the story on the 360 but now they join you). I'm guessing there'll be some new dialogue and stuff since if they're traveling with you they can't just keep them out of cutscenes entirely. Whether or not you want to wait god knows how long for that is up to you.

Actually, a NA release was confirmed back at E3, or during it.

Well shit, I take it back then. Was there a date/estimate for when it'll be released or just a confirmation that they're working on it?

Oh, I didn't know it had been announced. My manager had the new issue (I think) of the Playstation Magazine and I read it in there. I think it said something about a new dungeon too but I'm not sure about that.

If it's nothing too major to make a decision, I'd rather get the 360 because I'd never hear the end if I let my useless score fall behind, but I'd like to start building my PS3 library.

Bumping this thread. The PS3 version just came out and I think I'll get it. I'm seriously RPG deprived and this looks like a great cure!

PS3 version is pretty awesome so far. There's a new dungeon that's part of the story, and the game itself seems like a slight step up in difficulty over the 360 version. I'm not very far in at the moment, but some chests have been relocated to make some of the better items harder to find.

You're doing it all wrong. You're supposed to badmouth it so those of us who played the 360 one don't have any sort of desire to buy it again.

How long is the new dungeon and how far in do you get Crescendo and Serenade?

The new dungeon is shortly after you reach Baroque Castle, and it's that one that Crescendo and Serenade initially join. They leave after it, but they rejoin towards the end of the game (not quite that far yet). They're both amazing characters, and Serenade's healing and offensive capabilities totally smash Polka.

Polka sucked anyway. O: Allegretto (purely because he was the main character), Viola and Falsetto ftw. I'll maybe pick it up if I see it cheap anywhere, been meaning to play through it again to 100% it since I missed a ton of stuff the first time through.

A lot of stuff has been moved around from the 360 version to the PS3 version, so any memory as to where things are and any walkthroughs should be taken with a grain of salt if you do. There's also a lot of fights that're noticeably harder, and there's a good number of changes.

I keep finding places to pay tribute to EZI, that gives a single gold after doing it. They're in pretty awkward places, and I don't seem to recall ever seeing or hearing of them in the 360 version. Can anyone confirm if they were there, so I know if I should keep checking around for them?

I went out and picked it up today. I've only played a good 30 minutes but I'm enjoying it so far! I'm glad to hear the PS3 version is a little revamped compared to the 360 version, and not just a complete port over

First rpg in a while that I have played is if you are just joking around a normal mob can kill you, this game is fun it has a hint of secret of mana to it. So far what I like is it is a challenge what I do not like is the lack of being able to control the camera running behind stuff and not know what could be there is annoying at times. The graphics on ps3 look great. The japanese voices are great and all, but funny enough I enjoy the english voices too, except in every battle, where they normally say the same thing not sure if you can turn it off but thats only thing thats like a thumbs down. So many games came out V.Chronicles, disgaea 3, and this only played this and disgaea haven't played chronicles yet but look forward to it. Also got naruto ninja storm and resistance 2 so I got a lot of games to deal with dam you holiday season
