Most Powerful game you have ever played

What game(s) have provoked the most emotion in you? When thinking about the saddest ending I started thinking about the games which have provoked some amount of emotion.

To me, the game that I the largest response to would easily be Valkyrie Profile. With the games numerous emotional death scenes and the main characters storyline... The recruitment scenes alone are probably the most emotionally powerful scenes I've personally seen in a game.

    Suikoden 2 <.<

Played through it 20+ times and the story still gives me the same feeling it did when I first played it.

Re: Most Powerful game you have ever played

VP1 for sure. Some scenes were awesome and others very sad. The first game that provoked any emotion was when I first played FFVII and Aeris(th) died. That for me was the first time a main character had died in a game I played and it was a pretty awesome scene. Music was perfect and the fight afterwards was good too.

Odin Sphere is definitely a game that stirred a lot of emotions. Seeing Mercedes' final scene in the Armageddon book was incredible. In fact, lots of the scenes in Armageddon were really well done, and Oswalds/Mercedes' final scenes in their respective books was also another great moment.

FFX's ending was emotional a bit as well. Too bad any impact it had was ruined by X-2. The few final cutscenes in FFXII (from Crystal Grande onwards) were all amazing (Pharos in particular).

Suikoden 2 had some really really powerful moments as well. The whole game was incredibly done and the perfect ending is indeed perfect. Amazing.

Suikoden 5 as well, similar feeling to 2, which is why it's awesome.

Oh man, I keep forgetting games.

MGS1: Scenes with Sniper Wolf were great.

MGS3: The entire ending scene, build up to The Boss and all.

AC5/0: The last 2 missions of both games send shivers down my spine.

Xenosaga 3. If you've played the entire series and got to the ending, you would know. (well it wasn't just the ending, pretty much half the things that happen in XS3 were pretty strong stuff..)

    Agreed, the ending... and the whole game itself, it's just amazing, hehe. Xeno series have probably best story I've ever seen on a video game. Too bad Xenosaga II has such a horrible and slow battle system. But it's still worth playing (or reading the script) bcoz Xeno III > All, ^^;

XS2 is worth playing just for the URTV storyline... reading about it doesn't do it justice.

FF8, though I didnt fully understand it when I played, I knew I wasn't getting a lot of the details, and knowing that, I actually was crying when I beat the game >_> (Only game I've ever cried on that I can remember at least)

FF6 when that retarded ninja decided it wasn't a good idea to continue living. Whyyyyyyyy? But that was back then, when I was a kid, doubt I would be sad nowaday.

Xenosaga3's ending was pretty damn sad. Shadow Heart 2 wasn't bad either. FFX (if you ignore FFX-2) was pretty good, with Tidus and Auron leaving.

FFX was pretty good, if you exclude the ridiculous Yu-Yevon twist.

I loved Tidus' line right before you engage Braska'a Final Aeon when he says something like "I promise i'll make it quick, hit me with all you've got dad!"... I think it's the only time in the entire game he refers to him as his "dad" (that, and after you win the fight and he cries while holding Jecht in his arms he says it again.)

Shadow? You mean in the actual ending or the "if you don't wait until the last second on the floating island"? Or is there another ninja that I don't know about in 6.

I think he refers to Shadow, and by the looks of it he didn't wait for him.

Problem with Yu-yevon is that it was completely pointless. They could have said it was destroyed when you killed Jecht, didnt need that stupid fight.

And yeah, the whole ending was depressing/emotional. Probably my favorite FF ending, even if it's not my favorite game.

Shadow stay behind when Kefka's tower crumbles. Never know if he survive, but it doesnt look like he does since you don't see him after.

Wasn't the only sad part in the game tho. Locke/Rachel, Cid (how the hell should i know on my first game some fight arent good >_>), Terra's backstory were all sad stuff that happened in FF6.

It's been hella longgggggggggggggggggggggggg, but you could've waited for Shadow in the floating island.

To answer the OP's question: None.

Not talking about the floating island, I know you can save shadow there. I'm talking about the sequence in the ending where Shadow leave the group while they are escape, ask interceptor to go with Relm, sit down in a corner and wait as everything around him is getting destroyed.

He stays behind in Kefka's tower? I thought he only stayed behind when you're on that floating island right before the WoR.

Yeah, Shadow sends Interceptor off in Kefka's Tower then waits. I remember that part of the ending quite well. Shadow was always in my main groups, because <3 Interceptor.

I never played FFX, but I watched someone else finish it, and even I felt something when Tidus fell through the sky and gave his dad five on the way down. Didn't need much background on the game to understand and appreciate that scene.

FFXI's Beastmaster AF3 CS: A New Dawn chokes me up every time. I love dogs, and the undying loyalty of Tebhi for his master, even though they had been seperated for ages in life and death gets me every time. The flashbacks to their performing in Jeuno is just a cheap shot thrown in, too.

Most powerful game to me was MGS2 when Ocelot was explaining the backstory of his younger sister and stuff...
Man that got me really bad.

and MGS3 story just blew me away with how epic it was. SO impressed.

Ok...no idea what the scene mean now. He goes in a corner and sit down and say something like "I'm gonna start once more Baren". He doesnt look like someone who is about to live, but his line make his sound like he intend to start over. Maybe he was just looking for a monster to mijin and HP.

Just thought I should mention that FF6's ending was the most ridiculous thing ever... showing each char one after another was so boring lol.
