Chrono Trigger
Everything about that game is pure win, I still play it to this day :D
Wont say anything about the story just in case anyone hasnt played it, but it had alot of emotion in the game. (at least i thought it did)
Super Ghouls and Ghost almost made me cry after playing a stupidly hard game, a tough last boss then finding out I had to go all the way back to the start and do it over was probably the worst moment of my video game life.
Also, Legend of Dragoon, I loved the story line, loved the addition/dragoon system, loved the music, loved the characters, honestly my favourite RPG to date, and I don't want a sequel, they'd just mess up and make it crappy![]()
Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. I felt so bad for Emperor Dizweld, then when the real villain shows up I lol'd. >.>
Your the first person I've ever heard say they liked that game. (I did like the story but hated the gameplay)Originally Posted by Siniroth
Really? I found it nice that your proficiency in combat was helped with additions, so it wasn't a 'hold down X button to win game' type game, and it wasn't a 'hit square square square triangle triangle square triangle triangle (hold)' to do 'this combo you'll only use once because this is the only enemy slow enough to be caught by it', I liked the median between the two that the addition system set up.
Yeah I liked LoD as well. Was a pretty interesting story and the battle system was great too. It's been a long time though so all I really remember is how you had to press square (I think?) during the right timing depending on which attack you were doing. I remember it took me a while to get timing down, was a long time ago, lol.
The game was too unforgiving for me personally. I don't have twitch reflexes (LOL me playing FPS), so I pretty much beat the game using the first 2 abilities for each character... The only higher one I ever managed to do often enough was the main characters Madness Hero.Originally Posted by Siniroth
I loved that game. I don't remember much of the storyline, but I do remember how I liked the fact that it took ages for me to get the timing down on the higher level moves, and you had to do it perfectly "x" number of times to make it stronger (which prevented you from spamming the strongest thing you have if you weren't paying close attention to the timing).
Those dragoon combo were so damn hard to pull off though...damn cursor moved too fast![]()
I was sad when aerith got skewered by sepheroth.
and the music/song (eye's on me) to the end of ff8 is depressing enough to spark some sadness.
Palom and Porom turning themselves to stone was a bit touching.
Any time i'm playing a game and put a lot of time/effort into a particular character that dies or leaves the main storyline is sad due to the fact that I wasted a lot of time developing them.
Breath of Fire II.
Fatal Frame I. It took me a few minutes to get past the cheesiness of "killing ghosts by taking pictures of them," but it did a very good job of setting the mood and as a result enveloping me into it. That game flat out made me scared/paranoid whenever Id sit down and play it! I dont remember the ending of it (unfortunately), but it was powerful to me in that although, it didnt make me emotional in the traditional sense of the word.. it freaked me out.
Fear is a valid emotion, right? lol
Phantasy Star 2.
Nei's story was a shock if you didn't use the Walkthrough book that Sega included with the game ;p
That.. and the ending is still one of the best endings I've ever seen, combined with great music (Not Falcom quality, but pretty epic for MIDIesque)
Y's I & II for Turbo-CD
First RPG with voice acting and CSs and CD quality music. Created a superb experience. Both boss tracks were unrivaled for a long time, though I have a particular fondness for FFVII's boss music;p
Silent Hill 2.
Seriously best horror game evar. They managed to make the main love interest just attractive enough to give you hope that something wasn't going fucking crazy, then the ending just topped it all of wonderfully.
LOL man I was seriously under the impression that in FFIV everyone dies. Rydia being swallowed by Leviathan, Cid jumping off the airship, Rosa repeatedly abducted, Tellah using Meteo, Palom and Porom, Yang.. don't remember. I loved how you can get most back. (Minus Yang I think? I forget I just remember getting his wife's frying pan to hit him with it, not sure if he comes back to the party though)Originally Posted by Skyylya
He only rejoins in the Gameboy Advanced Version and probably the upcoming DS version. You can swap in any of the party members from the game who did not die except for FuSoYa.Originally Posted by Larsa
yeah in the snes one he just regains awareness of himself and then you see him with the sylph folk when the giant of babil comes out and everyone comes together (one of my favorite moments in FF history btw, i love that when everyone helps get you in the giant).Originally Posted by Vinen
I don't have a gameboy advance or a DS...i think i'm missing out on a lot of stuff but meh, no money for a new system right now.
FF9
and KH1
So... eveyone but Tellah then? Even Edward and Cid survived and showed up at the Babil fight.Originally Posted by Vinen
