Just wanted to say that I actually didn't mind that plot twist. It's just more existential and less comic book-style dramatic. Of course, the best part of Tri-Ace games for me is always the postgame.Originally Posted by Charismatic

Yea Xenogears blew me away, I still remember thoses long parts of the game where you just read and being so into it, thinking 'omg wtf no wai is this a video game'.Originally Posted by karril
I enjoyed everything about that game, gameplay, story and music.
That is so true. Although, I'm in the same boat as Charla, the build up to the plot twist was A M A Z I N G. No game has ever built up tension like that before, although FFIX came close.Originally Posted by Charla
Xenogears of course. So many amazing moments in this game.
Final Fantasy Tactics in close second.
Kingdom Hearts/2, actually. I got sooooo into those games, I was so tied in emotionally <.< I felt for all the members of the cast, though it makes me feel a little less manly to admit.
I definitely won't argue that, I love the post-game dungeons/events in Tri-Ace games. Hell, I only even finished SO3 due to the fact that I knew there had to be some awesome postgame content being that it was a Tri-Ace game, I definitely wasn't disappointed there.Originally Posted by Charla
almost everyone says xenogears, but i heard a lot of content was cut from the NA release, much like FF7
Xenogears's 2nd disk is basically story telling with pictures. You get a dungeon and fight here and there, but you don't get to walk on the world map till the very end, when you reach the final dungeon and endgame bonus dungeon. I personally enjoyed that, but it's obvious a lot was cut out from the game.Originally Posted by Janeru

I did read somewhere that Xenogears alomst didn't make it to US because all the controversial (I guess?) religious content, mabye things where left out in that area but I don't think thats why the second disk is done like that, I think it was due to funding issues or something like that.
I simply described what the 2nd CD is, wasn't saying it was only for NA The 2nd CD was cut during production because Squaresoft wanted a faster release and had invested enough money. They squeezed the remaining story and used a narrative method to describe what happened, instead of giving player a chance to play it.
Xenogears had very little censor as far as I can remember when it come to the localization. Takahashi did say they cut a lot from the game to make it less religous, but that was for both version. They apparently intended to call Fei "Jesus" (or maybe Yeshua), and had a few more thing like that
I loved how seemingly uncensored it was. This was of course before huge American religious issues hit like they have lately. I loved every centimeter of it. I have a friend that I loaned it too, but he moved. I'll get that bastard back soon, >< I want to replay through it again. <3 the plot.
MGS3: The whole boss defecting thing + the whole ending.
FFIX: Didnt give to shits when i first played, but i repalyed it recentaly it had one of the best stories.
FFXII just Balthier: Can identify with him in alot of ways.
I really liked the whole desperate atmosphere during the last 2 months of Persona 3, and the final boss was absolutely epic. 13 forms...if you don't powerlevel/use Armageddon, you're looking at an hour+ fight (level 71 when I finished)

It terms of how powerful and perfect a game is, Chrono Trigger and Tales of Eternia, game play just right, story wonderful, just in the end all awesome.
In terms of story alone... it's a hard toss up, I've played a lot of emotional game, and even more emotional animes XD, that it would only lead to me to months of playing em....
I didn't read through and I know it's not an RPG, but Super Mario 3 was great.
Baiten Kaitos 1/2 are only RPGs in a long time that kept me guessing the entire way.
Heh, defintly epic. My friends girlfriend (shes awful at games) played the game on Easy. She got bored one day and decided to level all characters to 99... I lolled as she beat the boss of the game in about 5~10 minutes.Originally Posted by MisterBob

It's one of the extremely rare moments I have sincerely felt bad for a fictional character. I'd chase after the train too.![]()
