I just played through and found 121/122 diaries :/ I'm missing "A Man or a Parasite" in Hephaestus Core.. if anyone can post a screenshot looking at that one, I'll love you forever.

I started out using everything, but found myself almost exclusively using the crossbow and lighting bolt for the second half of the game, except when the game specifically called for something else.
just beat it myself, i fired the crossbow maybe 10 times total the entire game. I never had ammo for it so it never really interested me. My personal favorite is a toss up between the pistol, shotgun, and machine gun.

Oh, and the ice plasmid > all. Freeze + 1 shot with antipersonnel pistol round = exploded splicer
I kept it at full most of the time, just using the u-hack machines/ammo vendors. I didn't really like freezing/shattering mobs to pieces, since there weren't any items to collect afterwards.
Crossbow is quite powerful. I've been using it mostly when dealing with big daddies.
I would however enrage whatever I could find in areas and hide and let them deal with each other. Then I would charm the big daddy and take him with me to places I know I'd get ambushed... Quite often though, I end up shooting him and I have to deal with him at the same time, which really is annoying. That's when I use those awesome Trap Bolts. The penalty for death in this game is almost not there though. It feels weird.

There isn't a penalty at all, really.

You respawn with whatever ammo you had at death, but all of the enemies you were fighting stay damaged anyway. You don't respawn with a large amount of HP, but hey, you died.

They had to do it that way, If there was a huge penalty or the enemies regained health, no one would ever get past that first big daddy lol.

    so true.
after playing it again, it was a good game. Just it was some what short, no muliplayer, it could have used better endings, and more outcomes if you harvest or rescue the little sisters.

Yea this game would be crazy hard if enemies regained health when you died, Big Daddies are the perfect example. I usually die at least once or twice while fighting them.

    That's cause you suck!

I just beat this game harvesting on hard and I must say that was disappointing. So much I thought would be different the second time around wasn't and the harvest ending was just not as good as the rescue one.

5-6 trap bolts and they're near death... want to make sure they die before reaching you? Steel bolt them as they're coming at you. Before that however, I just found higher ground and put prox nades on the way up while shooting at them with armor piercing.

I left the first big daddy alone and came back for him when I got the opportunity.

Set a trap with 3 Proximity Mines right next a gas barrel or propane tank, then pull with a RPG, if need be finish off with weapon of your choice. And always save, if i die just reload. The endings were very cheesy imo they should have been longer.

for Diaries can you go back and get them if you missed a couple? or do you have to play through 100% again to get them all?

As long as you have a save point before the final boss, you can re-explore the entire game. Although, unfortunately, you are:

stuck in the Big Daddy suit, which kinda annoyed me since it clipped off the edges of the screen in a circle.

Should be just outside Ryan's office (in Central Control).

Yes but there's 5 you cannot get if you missed them, 2 at the very start of the game "New Years Eve Alone" and "Hole in the Bathroom Wall", both in the "Welcome to Rapture" level. The other 3 are all in Ryan's Office, "The Vita Chamber", "Mind Control Tests" and "Baby Status". If you have those 5 you can load any save before you take the lift up to the boss and go back and get them. If you go back as a Big Daddy you'll still have the annoying sides of the screen cut off, but random Splicers wont attack you and you take naturally less damage.

Question. Can you shoot the glass so the outside water can come flowing in or is it impossible?

Impossible, cracks a bit but the only breakable glass is indoor windows and even then alot of it isn't breakable. Then again you wouldn't make an underwater city with regular, breakable glass.

    >_> My friends kept complaining that 'Oh, apparantly this game is short', then I showed them the telekinesis plasmid (loaded a random file and used it) and they love the fact that I could pick up anything and kill people with it, one of them wanted to borrow it when they're about to go off to oakville, ft

First play through, hard mode, took me 2 days. Was kinda short but it was awesome. Started a Easy mode play through to get good ending and it's hilariously easy, wrenching the first boss to death in a few seconds compared to a hard ass fight on Hard mode. :D

I never really used the Telekinesis plasmid though, wasn't half as effective in fights as any other one and I only ever had it set to grab some loot you can't get to without it.

    Re: Bioshock

You need it to get into an area that has a passive plasmid (forget which) right near the start of the game, and I find it helpful to use for random rpg turrets that surprise me, I'm playing through easy so I can have fun on it and everything, and pretty much every object one shots all the splicers I've seen so far, right now the only thing that takes more than a few seconds are big daddies, and those I have 4 electric buck -> pistol shots for, they go down insanely fast compared to even medium mode

Damn I am missing New Years Eve and Vita Chamber. Aside from that accomplishment I am only missing the tonic one (not sure how, I got them all I thought), the slot one, and the Hard Mode one. Over all it was a pretty decent game. Anyone mind filling me in on what the 'bad' ending was? I saved every little girl.
