    Re: Sneak Attack + Sturmwind

Interesting find, I'd be curious to see some other results as well

Just to add to the pot, MNK/THF does not guarantee 2x hit on Dragon Kick, or even Howling Fist (despite it's 1-punch animation, it's still 2 hits).

Maybe this can also be tested with a larger WS, like SA+Penta Thrust or SA+Rampage? If all five hits connect on either of those, there may have some sort of backing to the "100% ACC on attack rally" theory.
nope, this seems to be unique to Sturmwind, my 'explanation' is nonscientific, Just a thought that might explain why this seems to occur. It fits the description of a SA&DA or TA closer than the description of your normal SA&WS. I never noticed it when I leveled WAR, but that was a long time ago.

Until further notice, Sturmwind is a one-hit WS that has a Warrior's Charge effect built in.

    That is all.

    Or maybe it is partially magical, someone go test its accuracy w/o Sneak Attack. >_>;

I remember tanking on WAR/MNK back in the day, Sturmwind didn't really perform terribly well without SA that often, unless you got terribly lucky. Damage as /THF for 400-500, then dropping down to 80-100 when tanking...yeah, one hit missed D:

    Re: Sneak Attack + Sturmwind

I almost feel now like I should've posted this in Advanced Player Topics - it ...seems important enough.

    From the KI thread:

Went to the same zone as the galka did.

    First set of tests:

Ninja 50 / Thief 25 (which i ended up delevling to 49 because of aggro at end of test)
    Gear:

Shinai (the event npc katana) GKT skill on nin/thf= 94 (was getting skill ups)
    Kingdom Aketon
    Opaline Boots
    Opaline Legs

Regular tp hits resulted in 13, consistently 13, so no weird 1 extra tp like i get on thf sometimes, so a full return on ws would be 14 tp. Since NIN/THF gets no traits and I dont have brutal or anyother piece that adds trpl/dbl attack its not possible to go above 14.

TP gained on lower lvl mobs like dhamels, then switched to goblins for ws, 8/8 ws's done with SA T:Enpi resulted in 14 tp, now given this may seem small, but I did use the Blinding Potions, and after I had reached tp via shikyoko(sam in party) or from the dhalmels, I would go behind the mob, 4 of the trys were done with out anything, just previously stated gear, the second set of 4, were used with a blinding potion up, all 8 ws's resulted in a full return, the gob that was getting ws'd was thf type, which without a BPotion I could barely hit, and with the potion up I missed 25 attack rounds in a row, so I feel its sufficient that if I was going to miss, i would with -255 acc, on a mob i could barely hit in the first place. The other 2 ws's were done with 1 blinding potion, and one non blinding potion ws without being stacked with sneak attack, both missed completly. 0% return. So clearly the modifier dosent have to do with just 2 handed weapons in general, but while stacked with sneak attack.

Just for shits and giggles didnt miss on a lesser manticore either. just tried it after getting raised lol.

    --------

Just came back out as WAR/THF with the same results with the ae i had used when exping out here last month or so(and was missing with) and did the exact same thing as previously stated but sturmwind instead of enpi and had the exact same results.
Bolded for important parts. SA+Tachi: Enpi and SA+Sturmwind both provide 100% accuracy on both hits when thief is subbed, which is a ninja change from before. If there is a Thf main who has an event Great Katana (Hardwood Katana or Shinai) could you go THF/SAM somewhere with blinding potions and replicate these tests? I want to know if it's /thf only.

Edit, ok I did post in advanced.
