    Examining players

Do people still bust a nut over being examined w/o bazaar up? I mean, I hate it when I'm camping NMs, but I do notice when I examine JPs they spam /slap.

what's your take on examining/eye raping player's gear?

    Re: Examining players

It's simply considered impolite to check without asking to a JP.

Many realise NA's don't understand this, and just filter check or don't care too much.

Some don't realise it, and some just want to be dicks, shit is situational.

Funny, lots of JPs check me without asking. Same goes for other NAs I've asked.

    Shit is situational.

    Re: Examining players

I only check Bazaar's or people who look like they're wearing extremely stupid gear in parties so I can get a good chuckle. I don't have any problem with people checking me though. I realize Japanese find checking without asking rude but do they feel the same way if they have a Bazaar open? Suppose that's a silly question but it's something I've always wondered.

Some realize it, but also realize that you can filter checks and so anyone who /slaps people for checking has testicles the size of skittles.

isnt this what this game is all about? having sweet gear and making sure others know it? I guess I just dont understand this, everyone no matter what continent youre from desires the best gear, they want to be congrat'd when they aqcuire the drop but then they get pissed if you /check them to see it? Dumb.

    Re: Examining players

Had a level 8 besieged the other day. Some THF had some gear I don't think I've seen before, with a bazaar. I checked him and opened up bazaar. Then closed it. (I was weakened as RDM/WHM, so I was resting). This person was JP.

All was normal, then seconds later he spammed checked me back 20 odd times. Don't know what his problem was. ¬_¬'

I'm surprised he put the effort to do that in a Level 8 Besieged, considering the madness around and the extreme lag.

Other than that, I have no problems with checking. It's a game function. :D

If the Bazaar flag is up then it's a free /c invite.

I'll typically /c someone at random if they're friends/LS peeps, wearing odd gear or if they're acting odd in pt or /sh.

JPs still get pissy though and /slap or keep swapping gears if you /c the wrong one.

I still recall trying to buy something out of someone's Bazzar and the fucker kept swapping gears.

Exactly. It's like opening your front door to invite someone in and you keep closing it on them as they try. What the fuck. Seriously.

    Re: Examining players

I have no idea if this is relevant to that reason, but in the Japanese version, when you check them, the message they receive is something like " XXX is intently staring at you..."

isnt the check translated on the JP side as like semi sexual in nature?

    Re: Examining players

Can we add this to the Meat vs. Sushi / WAR vs. MNK/NIN thread please? :/

People who get mad about checking them are fucking retarded, and if a JP thinks there really is some hidden evil agenda behind examining them because of their gear they need to get out more. Cuz you know when I'm checking you I'm really trying to see what color your panties are through a TCP/IP connection.

    Re: Examining players

This should also be one of the questions asked in the next SE interview. Kekekekekekeke....~

"SE, why do people get angry when we /check them?" *innocent eyes*

I challenge someone to come up with a response! Sundi style or not ...

    EDIT: Spelling mistake >_<

You hit the nail on the head in my opinion. If someone takes this shit THAT seriously, then they have problems that stem beyond FFXI.

Ditto, cept I wanted to go with: JP twats need to get the hell over it. Twat. Good word, nice one dude.

To Sono-cat: All the more reason they should not care. Gawd, they have close to porn on daytime television and they get uppity about being 'checked out in a sexual manner.' /ragezillaonjapan

    Re: Examining players

I don't usually check folks without asking, especially JP, unless they're clearly AFK or they have a bazaar so I have an excuse. They don't seem to like it, so I try to respect that.

Only exception to that is if I really want to annoy someone. For example, if a JP party camps on my BST, they get checkspammed until they start screaming, LOL.

I don't mind random player passing through and /check. I certainly don't expect any random player to mind an occasional /check either. If they do, then they have other issues that go beyond /check.
