I have a certain acquaintance (workmate), whom I'm not too fond of, who played FFXI all the time. A few months ago, his roommate (a good friend of mine) held a party. My workmate's not really one for parties, so he went out that night. He also, rather naively, left his door unlocked and FFXI character logged in to bazaar. Being the general asshole that I am, I ended up changing his account information (CC number and address and password).
He called them constantly trying to get them to fix it, and they absolutely refused. I think he still tries once a week at least, hoping to get someone who will actually help him. He suspects they have a note on his file to just ignore him now (he confides in me with this information because he doesn't know that I did it).
So, basically, through no fault of his own, he's been completely screwed out of his account. The ironic thing is that he supported that company for something like 3 years, paying them every month. Now his account is sitting in a deactivated limbo, and all they'll do for him is to tell him to call the police.
It's all so very funny.
