Software for Burning DVDs for TV Playback

So, I've got a new apartment lined up but being more expensive than my existing place I'm going to need to scale back on some expenses including cable TV. Therefore, I'm looking for some software that can burn video files to DVDs that I can then just plop in my DVD player (I know it will accept DVD-R and VCD format from some disks a friend-of-a-friend made). Freeware or shareware under $30 USD would be best, but I obviously have no qualms about torrenting better software and cracking it.

I've done a bit of video conversion work when I had my PSP and was putting downloaded TV shows and the like on it in PSP format. However, I don't have the software anymore but I do recall it requiring a crack to get it to full functionality.

    Suggestions and/or personal experiences?

What kind of video files are you talking? Random shows/movies/etc, or just movies? If the latter, ConvertXToDVD is fucking G O L D E N, and something that I will be using forever. Basically takes any kind of video file and turns it into DVD files (VIDEO_TS), burns it, then deletes the VIDEO_TS folder (should you want it to). Takes about ~1h to convert/burn a movie, but there's no quality loss and it's almost guaranteed to work on any DVD player newer than Jesus. GUI is retardedly easy to use, too. The program itself is too clutch not to pirate, so go get the latest full version and enjoy.

Now, if you're just talking about a piece of software that can burn video files to DVD then uhh... Nero I guess can?

I've never heard of the software that Epical mentioned, but it sounds good. I'll offer another alternative just to throw it out there, and thats Cucusoft's AVI to DVD converter. They offer a variety of software like that for around the 30 dollar range. The cracked version is widespread, and theres a legit trial version if you wanna give that a go. http://www.cucusoft.com/ . I've used it a few times with no problems, video looked fine when I played it. Hope this helps.
