I need to go buy a printer cartridge so I can print out Kaeko's LJ for bathroom reading. That's not intended as an insult, it's where I get quality reading time with no gf or dog bothering me.

Or you could just read it at work while bored and get paid to do itOriginally Posted by Shuemue

Eventually BG run out of stuff to read....but alas I wish I was bored more often at work like i have been this week <3..
Kaeko's guide is definitely well done, I wish more BLMs would follow his advice, there has always been this illusion that BLM NEEDS the absolute best gear to be effective...when this is clearly not the case and I know from experience...
Also the standing setup and being able to take a hit (survivability) and DOT (via an ele skill setup for big HNM) over big epeen numbers is probably the most sound advice for any BLM.
In particular I wish more BLMs would take as much care in creating their gear sets, gear choices and macros...I know I put a lot of thought into mine for all jobs....carefully weighing options, inventory room and potential benefit..
The short amoutn of time spent figuring out what will work best pays dividends in the long run
Inv room is the kicker, it's hard too balance hMP, Nuke, INT, MND, Dark+, Ele+, Enfeeb+, -HP, -Enmity, MP+, and FastCast/Haste/Recast (am I forgeting anything >.>?) without killing your inv space. I dont even bother with seperate MND, Enmity and FC/Haste peices honestly (unless theyre already part of another equip), and I know alot of lazy BLM just carry Nuke and Ele+ equip because it's easier.
Having windower macros makes swapping much easier, looking over Kaeko's LJ real quick makes me think he just uses the FFXI macros, and thats another reason why people dont like to gear up so much. I can press one macro in windower and can do everything someone using normal macros can in four.
There are alot of dinky pieces out there, alot of the hMP stuff adds just 1hMP, and takes up 1 inv slot, same with Skill+ stuff. If youre using the poor mans -HP setup, that can take up alot of room as well.
Average MP cost during a Conserve MP activation is 11.5/16.
25% activation (base JT) = Consumption 93.0% of normal
27% activation (+weskit) = Consumption 92.4% of normal
0.6% of a Thunder IV is about 1 MP, so Morrigan would probably yield more during the cast time.
I abuse windower macros too. I had someone comment on me anon flaming me for using it awhile back. I only fill up the FFXI macro's 6 lines on purpose to exploit a lag issue.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Equipment switches done in windower macros appear to fire considerably faster (completion time is lower) than the normal FFXI macros. Therefore, doing actions in FFXI macros takes a longer time for the game to register. This causes a slightly longer period of time for the game to switch and makes you go "invisible" for a longer period of time. You go invisible longer, you have a better chance of bypassing useless animations that inhibit your ability to move such as casting animation. The amount of extra time is small, but still significant if you intend to perform those fancy kiting techniques.Originally Posted by Shuemue
I'd assume it's the blink casting thing, so you can keep moving and skip the cast animation?Originally Posted by Shuemue
I'd ask Rambus tbh.

^ hahahahaha, speak of the devil.
So for example you'd use FFXI macro lines for equipping dark magic skill gear for stunning?Originally Posted by Kaeko
It doesn't matter what gear you equip with what type of macro - all the gear is switched long before the spell would ever go off unless you're using chainspell on RDM. It's done not for the equip effects, but for extending the small window after a switch where you blink off the screen (the thing that pisses off WHMs alot when tanks do it). Using a mix of FFXI macros and windower macros simply just takes longer than windower macros alone. It's a small/trivial thing, but it doesn't hurt to do it if you like taking advantage of the kiting technique.Originally Posted by Shuemue
Oh god I know, it's an old piece I've been putting off upgrading. (Also been putting off Apoc. Nigh)Morion Earring? by your lol you already know the issue with that, it's.. well, it's gimp by my standards but I use Magnetic where a lot of people wouldn't.![]()
And yeah, Prism is nice, as I'm trying to hit 150INT w/o BRD too, but my Alchemy come first! xD
