Re: Time mage in JP mag?

What is with everyone's infatuation with time mage? Seriously... now people are making up spells that would break game mechanics and giving away other jobs' unique spells/abilities.

    - a spell that reduces casting and/or recasting time of spells (could be heavily broken if too much time reducing, gogo semi-chainspell manafont or invincible shadow tanks)
    hi2u Fast Cast (RDM)

    - same one as above as debuff, making mobs cast slower or less (magic and/or TP moves)
    Ummm... Slow...

    - a spell that lets you heal mp/hp faster while resting, think about it like speeding up that players space-time, having the ticks faster than every 3s
Resting is every 10 seconds and there's a ton of hmp+ out there. Why would you NEED to speed it up?

    - movement speed+ spell, sure we got mazurka but who cares if you run faster >.>; game wont brake
    Ugh... just ugh... BRD spells.

    - area jump spell (ok this is kinda crazy idea) works much like escape but in freefield and not dungeons
Game mechanics... just like you can't mazurka in dungeons.

    - a "reset" spell that gives the mob 5-10% hp back but heals all party members 10-25% or more, would be nice for TP burning hnm with heavy area attacks
Way too broken to even go into it.

I have an idea! Lets give time mages Float so they don't have to deal with chasms and islands? Or or... how about we give them D3 so they can teleport people to wherever they want to go?

    Seriously now, folks...

Re: Time mage in JP mag?

I feel like Time Mage speculation has already been pigeon-holed into some kind of RDM-spinoff. But what if Time Mage had a set of Spells/JA's that allowed them to revert their comrades (or enemies) to a former "state."

"Health State" - Reverts an ally's HP to what it was exactly 10 seconds ago.

"Rage State" - Reverts an ally's TP to what it was exactly 10 seconds ago. (gogo tp burn)

These types of abilities would require a lot of careful practice and timing, meaning the job would probably take at least a small amount of skill to handle properly. Doing it wrong could actually cause more harm than good. I think it could be an interesting take and would be something that FFXI has never seen before.

Sorry for the alla post, work is boring today

    Edit: Yes I know it sounds ridiculous, but if FFT had Calculator anything is possible! <_<;

I wouldn't say rediculous, but to make something like that that isn't game breaking, it would have to be on some sort of timer like 5 minutes. I don't think those skills are at the two-hour level (not like BLU's 2hr really is either), but if you could cast these as spells, you would nearly obliterate the WHM job.

Unfortunately I was hoping for Geomancer... Time Mage just sounds like a god damn rdm with a perma /drk. Really isn't that interesting unless they do something that will drastically blow our mind.

Also, I do believe they were hinting at a tank job, I'd like to see that happening more than god damn time mage.

What if they found a way to make Time Mage in to a tank?

Things like "Stop" could create a great deal of hate and operate in a similar manner to blinking in terms of simply not taking damage.

I'll be checking my in box periodically for hate mail.

I think the most important question that hasn't been asked however is, "HOW WILL WE ABBREVIATE THE JOB?"

    TIM?

    TMG?

    I only think deep thoughts.

I still think the ToAU jobs had the most LoL abbreviation potential.

    PMS?
    CSI?

Except all the abbreviations they use actaully sound like the job it's being used for. CORsair PUPpet Master BLUmage PLDin, NINja, SMNner, WARrior, BSTmaster, THF, MNK (sounds like monk), DRGoon, DRKnight, RNGer, SAMurai, etc. BUM, PMS, CSI dont even make sence.

See, using the Stop spell with TIM/NIN isn't so much of a tank, as it is a safety valve...

not that another refresh job with haste (what everyone wants time mage to be) and an mp-less healer (what everyone expects chemist will be, if/when it's implemented) wouldn't do that anyway,

TIM/WHM would no more replace RDM than RDM/WHM replaces WHM (actually, without Convert, significantly less so). Since it is apparently acceptable for RDM/WHM to exist (and step on WHM's toes), then I see no reason that TIM/WHM can't step on RDM's toes. It'd be a sliding scale:

more healing <- WHM - RDM - TIM -> more enhancing

If you listen hard enough you can actually hear red mage vaginas on KI's rdm forum filling with sand.
