Interesting speculation about new Time Mage spells and abilities. I'm sure they will be interesting.

I would level time mage if it had the ability to step over small rocks and branches.

Things like "Stop" could create a great deal of hate and operate in a similar manner to blinking in terms of simply not taking damage.
No. No. Just stop right now. Seriously, just stop.
See, using the Stop spell with TIM/NIN isn't so much of a tank, as it is a safety valve...
    Oh god I lol'd

Re: Time mage in JP mag?

I always thought Time Mage would get spells and abilities similar to the following, and could be hybridized with a Mimic:

    Spells (standard)
    -----
Quick - Lowers delay/casting time by 5%. (Wind)
Gravity - Decreases movement speed. (Wind)
Float - Increases movement speed by 5%. (Wind)
Stop - Similar to terror only in animation but mostly functions as a sleep. (Dark)
    Break - Petrify. (Earth)
    Slow/Haste - Duh. (Earth, Wind)
    Hastega - AoE Haste. (Wind)
Disable - Amnesia. Prevents use of TP for a limited time. (Light)
Regain - TP recovered over time.
Regen - HP recovered over time.
Refresh - MP recovered over time.
Replenish - HP/MP recovered while healing increased.
Teleport - Sends target to the closest city.

    Spells (damage)
    -----
Demi - uses 1/4 of current HP to deal damage. (40mp)
Demi II - uses 1/3 of current HP to deal damage. (80mp)
Demi III - uses 1/2 of current HP to deal damage. (160mp)
Demi IV - uses 2/3 of current HP to deal damage. (320mp)
Degen - deals dark damage over time, defense + attack down.
Comet - summons a comet that deals light elemental damage.
Meteor - summons a meteor that deals dark elemental damage.

    Abilities
    -------
Set - Self - copies current state of self. (1:00, Lv.41)
Set - Party - copies current state of surrounding party member. (1:00, Lv.41)
Set - Enemy - copies current state of enemy monster. (1:00, Lv.41)
Reset - Attempts to reset to previously copied state. (5:00, Lv.41)

Usage: WHM has 900mp to start, TIM uses Set/Party on WHM, 900mp copied... later, WHM is out of MP, TIM uses Reset to return the WHM to when it had 900mp. Or, TIM uses Set/Enemy when the Enemy had defense down... defense down wears off... TIM uses Reset, Enemy now has defense down again. Or even still, can try to nail a PLD with Set/Party while he's alive and then try to raise him with Reset once he dies. The longer the distance in time between using Set and Reset, the greater the chance of failure.

Temporal Paradox (2:00:00) - Grants a random state to all surrounding enemies/party members (can reset job abilities, stop, quick, demi, etc).

    Traits:
    ------
Copy HP - Allows the player to copy HP traits. (lv41)
Copy MP - Allows the player to copy MP traits. (lv45)
Copy Status - Allows the player to copy status effects. (lv50)
Copy Defense - Allows the player to copy Defensive traits (Evasion, Defense, VIT). (lv55)
Copy Attack - Allows the player to copy Offensive traits (Accuracy, Attack, STR). (lv60)
Doublecast - Allows the player to cast two spells in succession with no recast delay. (lv70)
Auto-Haste - Increases attack and movement speed by 2% with each trait. (lv30,60,75)
Resist Stop - Increases resistance towards temporal magic. (lv10)

    Merits:
    ------
Static Field - Grants the effect of the next Reset on party members in range. (20:00:00/2:30)
Phenomenon - Increases the accuracy/potency of the next temporal spell cast. (10:00:00/+5 acc/atk)
Bookworm - Decreases the chance for failure of Set/Reset. (-2%)
Time Mastery - Increases effectiveness of temporal magic when used on others. (+5 acc)

    ---
    Skills - Club (A-), Staff (B-), Dagger (D), Throwing (E), Eva (C-), Enhancing (C+), Enfeebling (B-), Temporal (A+)
    ----

There. Now I'm no longer bored.

Still waiting on scans from the OP, or anyone else that is in a position to snag the mag.

    Until then I'll say POIDH.

Re: Time mage in JP mag?

    Timmy would probably get gravity.

Until further stuff I'm going to guess that the thing was lying. After all, why would they announce a support job (which is what time mage probably is) before the others when they said they want to create a support job after they are done with the more desired roles? And based on how finished COR/PUP were when they were released compared to BLU (lack of higher level stuff, especially for PUP which was announced last), I'd guess that the order announced reflects the order they are finished.

not that another refresh job with haste (what everyone wants time mage to be) and an mp-less healer (what everyone expects chemist will be, if/when it's implemented) wouldn't do that anyway,
You make it sound like people expect chemist/medic to heal with no cost at all, even though most people expect it to be a inventory/gil-consuming job.

Regarding time mage and Refresh, I think RDM should remain better at it, meaning one or more of the following:
-RDM gets Refresh II or Refreshga.
-RDM gets Regain, whereas timmy doesn't.
-RDM gets Refresh-boosting stuff (equipment, job traits, or whatever).

EDIT: How about they make time mage "time master" or something and have it function through abilities as opposed to spells, possibly sharing all sharing a reuse timer, so it doesn't seem like it's trying to copy RDM?

Re: Time mage in JP mag?

Things that would break the game:

    Spells:

    Regain - 3/tick Mini-Meditate Refresh for TP.
    Haste II - 20-25% Haste.
Stop - Makes a mob unable to move. Based on skill and level difference (low proc rate on HNMs).
    Gravity II - Obvious.

These four spells would make TIM/NIN an obvious merit party puller and replacement for BRD. 25% Haste and 3 TP/tick > March/Minuet, imo. Use Gravity II and Stop when you pull, obviously.

    Other spells:

Fastcast - Gives the target a Fast Cast bonus.
Slowcast - Gives the target a Slowcast penalty. (hi2u Jormungand's Blizzaga III taking longer)
Bleed - DoT that drains HP.
Sap - DoT that drains TP.
Mark - Mark a space for Teleporting back to.
Recall - Warp back to the place that you marked. (hi2u arriving at HNMs quickly to help stalling)
Quick - Enables the next spell on target to be cast instantly. (2x Burst II MB on Light skillchains, anyone?)
Disable - Prevents a mob from using TP.

    Job Abilities:

Doublecast - Cast the same spell twice in a row with no delay.
Restore - Restore a job ability. (probably too much like COR)

So yeah, anyway. TIM/NIN for soloing would be ridiculous. More haste than a RDM and a stronger Gravity, plus DoT spells.

TIM/NIN for merits would be insane - definite BRD replacement.

TIM/BLM for HNMs would be crazy - Elemental Seal + Stop means you can essentially Sleep mobs that can't be slept. And even better? You can still damage them, without waking them up!

TIM/BLM for zerg-fights. Who needs Chainspell Stun? Stick an Elemental Seal + Stop on the mob and blow it away, or if that didn't work, just have a PLD use Invincible and hit it with Elemental Seal + Disable, then it can't use TP moves - and that's what is most dangerous about mobs like DL, Bahamut, etc.

Basically TIM would be a must-have job for HNMs. Something that can debuff an HNM, let your BLMs nuke twice, Sap away it's TP, and give your melee free Meditate. Yeah. Too broken? Probably.

When has time mage ever had doublecast? That's a RDM ability.

You best be joking. You are now going to argue over a small spelling mistake? Seriously, grow up.

    1) I'm not joking.

    2) Lighten up.

    3) There is no argument. You made spelling errors while trying to ridicule my idea. It's fair game.

    4) Nani nani boo boo, stick your head in doo doo.

Number two is a sentence fragment.

Number four contains words that don't exist.

For number three, your idea was terrible and you know it and the best come back you can do is point out a spelling mistake?

Well if time mage is job, I hope SE has some balls and decks it out. BRD is on a plateau by itself, and has been since it's inseption. *gasp* maybe they'd have, what's the word... competition for a party slot.

Well all I can say is that Time Mage has a very high chance to be one of these jobs.
Youll see more when I post the Interview.

Re: Time mage in JP mag?

Would be nice if time mage became an alternative to brd in merit parties, I guess that's what cor was supposed to be but without the ability to sleep...

Edit: I can see stop/stopga being used like sleep to keep chains going.

Call it Time Lord. It's 10 minute ability (like Elemental/Divine Seal) is called "Summon TARDIS", can equip various Sonic Screwdrivers, and have a two-hour called "Regeneration". (But they can only use it 12 times.)

And yeah, I had to Wiki most of that, but it was worth it.

OK I am telling you one sentence that I can remember from the Interview right now.
"Look at the Intro-Video of FFXI and you will find out what one of the new jobs will be"
Or let me say "Watch the Intro-Video and you will find out a hint about the new jobs".
Since the video is about the past and then you see the present. Time Mage is possible, if we are talking about time.
Anyway I will let you guys figure it out
Go and watch the Intro-Video (the 5-6 year old one for those who dont know when you start FFXI), I did today over 5 times at the GC.
There are a few things I saw...
