    DVD authoring

I have 2 home DVD players, one is a cheap ass $25 wal mart DVD player that will literally play absolutely everything. VCD, CD, DVD, w/e. The other DVD player (emerson) is a stubborn bitch. It will play DVDs, but not any that have been converted from .avi or .mpg to .vob. The folders are all correct, and the .vob files and shit are in the video_ts folder, but it won't fucking play them. It'll play burned DVD copies, and some .bin DVD torrents just fine (won't play the ones where ppl just simply converted and .bin'd it). But if i use a tool to convert an .avi or .mpg to a .vob, it won't fucking read. I'm 100% positive there is some way to get it to play them, because i downloaded a "DVD" format copy of transformers (which had to be converted by someone at some point from a different compressed format), and it worked fine. I know that it was re-authored because it had a fancy fucking title screen and silly extras. So, my question is, how in the hell do i get my converted .avi .mpg .w/e files to play on that fucking DVD player.
