I have used that setup on my RDM many times already, and I'm pretty fond of it. BRD/NIN pulling and COR/WHM back-up healing, and doing decent Slugshot damage when they could.
Losing that much accuracy and Slugshotting anyway makes me twitch.

I'd do it in Besieged. That's about it.

Gimping my main job is not generally why I sub stuff, and when I PT as a COR, part of my main job is to rain down firesand-fueled death on the target.

Losing accuracy really hurts with COR's relatively low Marksmanship, from watching our LS's higher-level COR in action. (I'm 41, and I did COR/WHM till 22 and real ammo was available.)

BRD was puller, so they need /NIN. COR went /WHM to assist with healing and -na spells. Sometimes when we had enough mobs at camp the BRD would even prelude the COR. They weren't the best damage, but like I said decent enough (400-500 Slugs) from what I saw, and I think this party setup works fine.

    lol@cor/whm

I've always seem corsairs as an offensive support job, whereas bards were like defensive support jobs.

The only time I went /whm on Corsair was in a manaburn pt that requested for it. Other then that I've usually went with /rng for exp/merit parties, ranger subjob is just too sweet to pass up.

I've done COR/WHM when the RDM had only SMN Support. . . yeah. . me and the JP Bard were pissed. Nothing like having only the Bard and Cor silena a NIN and the RDM :/

Aside from the obvious "woo, better melee damage", this could mean red magic headpiece getting access to more spells.
Or the BLM head getting more spells if meritted, hopefully. Or maybe better WHM spells too? Lucky I meritted Magic to 5 lol

Yeah the pic looks kinda grotty, looks like they forgot to press the F11 Highlight button to highlight the characters owai-

But yeah they look brown and horrid, the purple part of the BLM head looks os out of place, it sorta matches the purple on the master but eh...the new heads look pretty fugly there, hopefully they look better ingame.

By the way, if the BST/PUP/COR updates are any indication, I can't wait for the WAR/BRD/RDM updates. Especially since they usually start with the mundane changes first, and do the biggest ones last.

What do people think WAR/BRD/RDM will be getting that'll eclipse what we saw today for BST/PUP/COR?

Personally I'll still prefer BRD BRD healer anyway, unless CORs start subbing WHM and helping with support...or start pulling.
Hi, thanks for being the reason why COR is getting a massive buff.

If, even with this drastic increase, you still aren't interested in inviting a COR over a second BRD, I can only imagine the disdain you have for the job right now (when rolls are ~0.5x what they will be in a week).

It is precisely people like you that made this update necessary. In all honesty, thanks.

    --

As a side note, there is a very important reason why COR's rolls need to be more potent than BRD's. I know everyone on this forum only leaves town with support+support+healer, but for those in a single-support party (gasp!), a low roll means a broken chain. Having a super-buff XI doesn't mean squat if your chain is broken every time you're stuck on a VII or Unlucky (and even fully-merited Snake Eye is not nearly short enough to prevent this).

For example, in your standard merit party, you're likely rolling Fighter's+Rogue's+Evoker's. Since you probably aren't stupid enough to invite a pickup THF or SMN, that means that you can only use Snake Eye on either Rogue's or Evoker's (fully merited, Snake Eye can cancel out the worst results of roughly one roll, in my experience). Given that COR is a little short of BRD in MP generation for any person that can't rest for significant periods of time, most of the time I'll elect to use Snake Eye on Evoker's. And that means that if I get an Unlucky Rogue's (crit+1%), my melees are basically stuck with the approximate equivalent of one BRD song (total) for at LEAST the next 3 minutes.

Here, an enterprising person might suggest, "but wut about fold?!?!" The problem with using Fold on bad results (as opposed to Busts) is that if you Bust with Fold down, your rolls are effectively crippled until Bust wears off (though thankfully, it looks like Fold is getting a bit smarter and you'd only be crippled until Fold comes back up). Again, if Fold's recast was about 1/3rd of what it currently is, it'd be a different story. (Although really not that different, since Folding still requires you to wait a minute to reroll.)

Cool. at least Beastmaster is getting *Something* -_-a been years.

I can see this helping in merit camps like Caedarva Mire*lol if you will* and Mount Zyaloam. Natural pets are the best ^^

his comment is not that ridiculous.

if i'm BRD/WHM doing 2 March, 2 Ballad and helping the healer cure, i'm not going to pull full time.
if i'm BRD/NIN doing 2 March and keeping 1 or 2 slept mobs at camp all the time, i can't help the healer cure.

the COR is going to have to fill in on whatever the BRD isn't doing.

I could potentially see it working if a BRD/NIN is doing melee songs and pulling, the RDM is solo curing (which I've done easily enough as RDM in merit PTs), and a COR/whatever is doing evoker's and melee rolls. There's no reason for a COR to sub WHM when half the time BRD/WHMs in my merit PTs don't even cure.

The biggest drawback on COR just comes from being unable to pull/sleep reliably. And no elegy.
