Re: Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

The BST changes are most of what should have been done when the despawn change happened. I don't see them really addressing the full extent of issues that the job has right now. Great, a 90 minute Carrie.

Now, if they're introducing more uncapped jug pets, or ninja-uncapping them or something, then that's a great boost. If the HQ CoP jugs can get down to say around 15-25k, and then you can keep them around for 90 minutes, it'll be a good improvement. As it stands, it's only part of the fix needed for jugs.

No XP penalty is very nice, especially for /BST. Again though, this doesn't address the concerns of an endgame BST. It means you can more effectively move pets again. It means you can be safer, or be more sure to release an EM mob in its radius of activity so it doesn't depop and respawn DC or T.
What it doesn't do is give BSTs anything more viable to use in Sea, Sky, Dynamis, or the majority of merit areas.

I seriously doubt that a BST will have the ability to charm a T mob without an XP penalty.

It's a nice boost, but frankly I don't see this as actually fixing the problems and endgame BST faces. It's -very- nice for those still on their way up though.

Corsair...yeah...so is BRD getting sonic nukes then? The ability to put 3-4 songs on people?
Great for them, but I fail to see how taking a hybrid job with moderate DD capability and boosting their instant-use job ability buffs to be 100-200% of those of a job whose sole purpose is buffing is balanced.

Re: Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

One of the reasons I have delayed finishing up BST to 75 is because I don't see myself using it much once it finally hits that level. One example: my LS was interested in having me attend Nyzul Isle a couple of times on BST, until we realized that the mobs in that zone are NOT charmable. There really seems to be no routine role for BST in LS events other than under very very specialized and rare circumstances, and no point in meriting on BST if you have another job that gets faster invites and might help the party more.

If I had to grade these changes, maybe they get a C- if I'm generous. What BST wanted was SicII (ability to choose pet tp move), better jugpets available from vendors, and maybe one or two charmables in Sea. Instead we get mild upgrades to jugpet duration and healing. Big yawn.

Honestly, on the grounds of availability, Courier Carrie is still going to be the jugpet used by BST in parties 90% of the time, and she's still going to use Metallic Body 90% of the time on Sic, to the amusement of all party members except her owner, lol.

are you really crying for BRDs over the COR change? BRDs still have March, Elegy, Finale and Lullaby (while Quick Draw is still on a 1 minute timer without merits).

If the BST community finds some of the expensive uncapped jug pets more useful now, the price will probably crash, because those of us with the ability to make them might decide to do so, since there is a chance we could actually sell them more than once every week. No more synthing for 10k and selling for 50k when there's competition.

lol@"Bst's are elite, these changes are stupid"

Guess what, Bst really isn't that damn hard to level, just takes some patience and insanity, yeah, it makes me sad seeing lowbies coming up using Jugs in parties, but it's all worth it when they mischarm a linking mob during a petswap later, freak out and try to run away (even better from a mob with fast movement), and realise they forgot the cardinal rule of Bst: You're gonna die, don't let your Reraise lapse.

Bard gets two very accurate methods of sleep, one is AoE. Corsair gets to choose once a minute if they want to sleep one enemy, dispel something, or do ~200 damage. And good luck sleeping anything that isn't VT or lower. Card effects from Corsair to enhance debuffs at the moment don't work on bard debuffs or on cat 2 RDM spells. And for the most part a Bard doing an etude on a RDM before them casting a debuff would do more than a card shot enhancement would do. Plus I'd wager that a Bard could be geared to out DD a Corsair haha. Corsair was lacking, it needed a buff. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

All this really does is replace the backline BRD on 2 BRD parties in terms of meriting (and in some case enhance it since instead of getting 1 mad and 1 min you can basically get 2 of each), maybe once their rolls are set they can tag the mob here and there but I doubt things will live long enough for it to matter especially much, should be good on the way to 75 though.

And christ man I love seeing a person getting buffed in a way that fixes their problems only to cry harder than they did when they had it bad. Either the job sucked or now it's too easy to level it, let's ignore the fact that it's easier to level every job than it used to be. Bitter much?

are you really crying for BRDs over the COR change? BRDs still have March, Elegy, Finale and Lullaby (while Quick Draw is still on a 1 minute timer without merits).
...and COR still has Slug Shot, elemental shots, and other buffs BRD doesn't have like MAB, HMP, DA, crit rate, pet boosts, etc.

Both jobs have things the other does not already.

Why should a COR be able to pop 100ATT or more on with a single roll when BRD, the job that does nothing but buff (outside of subjob spells), needs to use both songs to do that? Granted, you can stack them, just like you can stack Refresh and double Ballad. But there's the lack of balance there. A RDM needs to spend MP and cast Refresh for one person at a time versus double ballad. What's a COR have to do? A couple JAs in less time than it takes to cast a single Ballad.

Re: Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

lol @ BRDs being sore over the COR buff. I levelled BRD to 75 for merits and to give more flexibility to the LS. I wouldn't exactly say I love to play it though. I wanted to level COR for the same reason, even before this update. If more people played COR SE probably wouldn't have buffed it. It was already pretty good.
COR isn't going to replace BRD so you people need to stop getting so upset. Can't you just be pleased that some people are happy with these changes? In the end it's going to mean better exp PTs, and faster LS events. Who doesn't want that?

Re: Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

They said that a corsair's roll will "generally" exceed a bard's song and an 11 will "for the most part" exceed two bard songs, which leads me to believe that some will stay the same (Evoker's at better rolls; maybe they'll just boost lower rolls for it) or will be boosted to equal 2 bard songs (if it's an 11).

I wonder, will the new heads still enfeeble (just wondering)? I'd imagine the white one doesn't nuke and the black one doesn't heal.

EDIT: BST and BRD complaining. One job is desired, and the other... not so much. Any coincidence that both jobs use CHR more often than others?!

I can't believe ppl are saying its not fair... Brd also doesnt have to GAMBLE to apply its buffs. How often do you think ppl land XI's in comparison with everything else?

The 2 jobs have 2 different party functions.. what is the problem?

BRD can't resist buffs so it's just yay, I'm being a buff slave, but with COR, if they roll good rolls, people cheer them on.

Then again if they roll bad rolls, lol...

I dunno, this small job adjustment seems like a bit of fun if anything aswell as helping even out the competition between BRD and COR.
Between the new ammo, gear, and roll improvements, I came.

The roll buff definitely helps lower-level COR as well. Increasing the power of rolls means more conservative Corsairs (who won't reroll on a 6+ to avoid Busts) still provide a good punch to the PT.

And if they managed to fit a few ammo choices in between 22 and 50 (Bullet -> Iron Bullet) my 41 COR is going to be a happy camper indeed. If they added higher-end ammo as well, VERY happy.

Nobody lost and three jobs that could use the help got the help. Wins all around.
