    Re: Decent Interview #4

Honestly, it could very easily be that we aren't understanding their hints. They seemed to be hinting that the regen issue was what they considered to be important and we just don't understand the connection. Also, when they refer to "regen" they might be referring to AV's multiple use of 2-hours as "regening" the abilities.

Does anyone have the original hint that they gave about AV that everyone assumed to be about JoL? I wanted to take a peek at it again.

I thought so too here is what I posted on page 2:

MB on JoL corresponding with the day of the week would stop AV's regen
Someone(Slapper iirc) replied that he doesn't think anyone uses this "trick" because noone cares about his regen enough to do it. Which I think is an important thing to do if they stress it so much. Going ebon panels mode: if this is a hint what would happen if you did a Bliz MB on a windsday, what might that do if MBs on JoL have a correlation on the day you are fighting on?

The original hint was given September 27, 2006 at the Tokyo Game Show

Matsui: First, defeat as many summons from Jailer of Love as you can: Ru'phuabo, Qn'xzomit, and Qn'hpemde. Absolute Virtue has a strong Regen effect, but if you defeat a lot of monsters it will be cut in half. After that, continue fighting using skillchains and magic that match the current day. (For example, Fireday ? Fire) This will eliminate the remaining half of his Regen effect. From there on out, it's up to you.

I wish AV would spawn for us for our semi-proven theories :/

We have managed to go 0/6 i think now on spawns.

    talking about the bercus interview

"Last year, he came with a stack of questions 1 cm thick, and this year he's back again.

This time he even brought a set of questions already translated into Japanese.

Just as I thought: 'How do we defeat AV? Nobody can beat him!' he asks...

They told us before that doing something about its Regen is the key, but...

Maybe at the Japanese or North American Fan Festival they'll give another hint!"

Might sound stupid, but has anyone ever tried a wind resist build on AV? A PLD can get up to 318 wind resist with some strange gear combinations. (303 if he's using Aegis). Could take this to some serious extremes with Blessed Briault and Magus's Roll.

Right, but you can resist Aeroga IV. Since Meteor is only used when Manafont or Chainspell is active, you might be able to Shadowbind it during those times.

It's been suggested and I believe tried, too many other issues with AV as it stands to be effective.

I understand how S-E keeps going "regen, regen, regen, lulz" at us over and over.

Is this some kind of communications error, perhaps? Are they referring to "regen" as in "the ability for AV to recover it's 2-hour abilities at high speeds, thereby meteorfucking/chainbenedictioning us in the ass"?

If SC's (and possibly spells) of a specific element slow AV (that is, ones that match the day), then perhaps incorrect ones act as an accelerator, with AV going in spam mode after too much?

Matsui: First, defeat as many summons from Jailer of Love as you can: Ru'phuabo, Qn'xzomit, and Qn'hpemde. In other words, it's Fireday, you keep belting him with Liquification SC's and piling on the Fire spells ONLY- not even Fusion/Light SC's to be safe. Pile enough of these on and AV's ability to recover 2-hours rapidfire goes bye-bye. Do the normal "let's spam WS'es/random SC's, lol" and AV charges up it's lazer and you die, she dies, everybody dies as usual. If that works, you try the same with Fusion and Light SC's.

Or (more likely) it's S-E being obtuse and Sundi and company are parked in the offices watching people kill JoL and wiping on AV, shedding tears of sadistic joy.

The only thing I can come up with is that they're trying to give a subtle hint that after you disable the regen, the other abilities will not be a problem anymore for whatever reason (maybe they go away naturally, or maybe eliminating the regen is a precondition for eliminating the 2-hours).

    >.>

    Hate getting into this more...

Anyone remember if, back when you could lock AV with Wyvnavs, if anyone stopped the Regen first?

If not, is it possible that after the Regen is stopped, you can use Wyvnav locking, and the Ninja patch was "fixing" it so the Regen had to be stopped before you locked it?

Haven't I read this theory already?

They know AV has been downed, several times, they surely know we were killing it by locking it, they adjusted it, and now every time we ask, they bring up the Regen without mentioning the locking.

Perhaps they assume we know to lock it, not just how we used to, but since the patch you have to stop the Regen first.

I had been thinking this since the last time they mentioned the regen thing, but have not had an opportunity to test it. I think it's really worth exploring at this point. Stop regen by nuking with current day SC + MBs, and when regen is completely down, see if 2hrs stop. If they persist, continue killing wynavs and see if they lock at that point. I'm gonna try to make this test happen with my LS, but we've had no luck with AV lately.

This might qualify as a noob question, but what led people to the original conclusion that Meteor is non-elemental?

Not sure, but I thought I'd mention JP wiki lists it as Dark

Indeed, I've seen all the parts of this, but looking through the threads I can find, I can't see where anyone has tried to stop the Regen, THEN kill Wyvnavs to lock him since the patch.

That's actually exactly what I had in mind. I thought that maybe it was classified as non-elemental because people don't normally think about Dark Resist (e.g. there's no Bar spell for dark). there are carols however, and plenty of gear that grants resistance.

    Black Mantle+1 (+10)
    Scorpion Harness+1 (+20)
    Hades Earring+1 (+12)
    Hades Earring+1 (+12)
    Scorpion Leggings+1 (+7)
    Demon's Ring+1 (+13)
    Demon's Ring+1 (+13)
    Scorpion's Mittens+1 (+7)
    Black Ribbon (+12)
    Crimson Cuisses (+20)
    Moon Amulet (+11)
    Cerberus Bow (+13)
Numinous Shield+1 (+15) unless you have aegis
Apollo's Staff (+20) unless you have aegis

granted you probably wont' use every single piece here, but with no aegis that's 195, add carol for an extra 40ish? And of course Magus Roll still counts, not to mention something like Saline Coat, which would be perfect since you only need it every so often (when Chainspell / Manafont are active)

lolresist, yaya i know, but it works wonders on Tiamat so I don't see why it wouldn't work here (assuming it actually is dark based).
