    UFC 74: Respect

It's that time again folks for another MMA topic by me ( I know you all love them because I do).

Here is the fight card with my predictions for winner bolded:

Heavyweight championship bout: Randy Couture vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
This is of course the main even and will be a good one. I predict Randy will win becasue since the Belfort and Rizzo fights I've learned to never bet against Randy. Gabriel is a good BJJ fighter and has displayed great striking notably the head kick that sent Cro Cop to slumberland in the first round.

Welterweight bout: Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck
    GSP kicks ass, enough said.

Lightweight bout: Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino

Middleweight bout: Patrick Côté vs. Kendall Grove
Côté is an awesome kickboxer I favor him over kendall grove even though grove is a decent fighter.

Lightweight bout: Roger Huerta vs. Alberto Crane

    Preliminary card

Light heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs. David Heath
I was dissappointed that Babalu only received a fight on the preliminary card. Awesome fighter on his feet and on the ground.

Heavyweight bout: Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk
as in the case with babalu I was shocked to see Mir stuck on the prelim card. I would've thought former heavyweight champions return to the octago would've garnered a little more than this.

Lightweight bout: Marcus Aurelio vs. Clay Guida

Middleweight bout: Thales Leites vs. Ryan Jensen

discuss. Also, I highly anticipate 3 future MMA events: UFC 75 Jackson vs. Henderson for unification Lt. Hvywght title, Jens Pulvers WEC debut, and TUF 6 with the welterweight championship fight between coaches Hughes and Serra.

I think Gonzaga and GSP will win. It's weird that Babalu is on the preliminary card, maybe he just doesn't have enough exposure in US yet.

He has had plenty of exposure. He's a great fighter, but his last 2 UFC matches did end in knockout. That might have something to do with it.

Forgot that UFC 76 was coming up at the end of september, should've added that to my post. It was supposed to be Chuck Liddel vs. Wanderlai Silva, but intead Keith Jardine will take Silva's place. I'm looking forward to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua's UFC debut against Forrest Griffin, will be soooooo great of a fight.

It's pretty cool that 3 UFC events are happening in under a month. Wand vs chuck would have been 20x better than chuck vs jardine but it should still be a decent fight. I kinda feel bad for griffin, I hope he puts up a good fight but I don't see him winning at all.

Wand vs Chuck might be in December. Wand is training with Couture for that one but you never know with the many times that fight was suppose to go down.

I hope Couture wins, despite my Gonzaga praise for him knocking out Crocop.

Im not taking sides for who I want to win the main event, but I can tell you that Gonzaga needs to use his momentum and drive to simply knock Couture out. He simply needs to end the fight early. Couture drug out into a longer fight is simply dangerous, he will beat Gonzaga via points and/or submissions. Hes just too good of a wrestler and knows too well how to win a fight when someone can't kick his ass fast enough.

it's hard to knock out randy though, he can take a shitload of punishment, just watch the pedro rizzo fight, and the liddel fights. he is a tough man and I suspect gonzaga would have to go all out on any submission attempts because I dont see him tapping out.

I remember this one dude at Blockbuster came up to me and told me about Gonzaga. He said something along the lines of, "well I went to prison, and I saw huge black guys bench press 400lbs 20 times, where Gonzaga can do 375 30 times" or some shit.

Randy will drag it out if Gonzaga can't capitalize.

I've been hearing that if Couture wins (My money is on him), Dana White is trying to set up a fight with him and Brock Lesnar in the near future.

And UFC 75 yes prz, Love me some free "PPV"s

Randy's screwed, he has problems with big JJ/Wrestler types ala Ricco and Barnett. Btw, what's the big deal with Randy, he's had like 1 HW fight in 4 years and it was against a very 1 diminsional 1 move Tim Sylvia and a horrible record by today's standards.
