I hope new assault will give over 1666points...red and blue is getting kinda boring.
Ya, ffxincyclopedia says normal blues are not sleepable, boss is.

Just saying if this is true, blm solo would be a cake walk.

    Edit:

    And my setup is sam,pld,whatever.

I am the pld, sub rdm. Phalanx, SS, Blink. Go in, diaga entire group (boost sam damage a bit), stand a bit out of range for a second so they get their first spell off (sentinel + rampart = invincible for a bit), then run off after the sam gets a hit in. Dont even need flee gear, just run around the first pillar and it will interupt their casting easy.

Got my sigma earring too Valor+1 gauntlets + Sigma + Aegis soon.. FUCK YA.

Just did 3 runs today on neutral day, which pre-patch as I wrote above typically took a drain at the end to finish him off, but today was not needed. Damage seemed to be about the same as it had been, so it seems possible that they slightly lowered his total HP.

Rauban is definitely sleepable. Almost everytime my group does it, we have a RDM pull it with Silence and we sleep it to keep him from running off. We have two BLM spam spells on it and he dies very quickly. If you had to solo it as BLM, sub RDM so you can use Gravity so you can sleep him easier inbetween nukes. I've done this personally many times and it works like a charm. I've never needed more than three sleeps on him including the initial one to keeping him from running off with puller.

I have experienced some resists on nukes with him, but it's never been a major issue. Freeze II > Burst II > Thunder IV is overkill to say the least. When I do get resisted, it's usually only once.

Hmmm...look at the map? >_>Just follow the obvious kiting way. And it tells you where rune pop once it die.

you said you get 1666 or sometimes 1600 points, what makes the points differ? (I hope I'm not missing the point about armband or not)

8 red NPCs along with the Hume NPC. Hume NPC dies = you lose. Elvaan NPCs die = you get less points.

-66.67 points for each NPC you lose, down to a minimum points of 1133(?) points.

The boss is sleepable, bindable, gravable easily without ES... really I don't see how you could lose on BLM. Just have one person kite the BLUs around the boss away, one BLM solo the boss, and one person distract the BLUs at the start/protect the npcs for the 30-45 seconds it takes the boss to die.

A did this the other night with a couple of guys in my ls. Its loleasy. I was rdm, the guy that does it everyday for salvage points was Sam/war and the guy that popped the npc could have been Pup/bst for all that it mattered. Went it, the sam knew where the boss and adds spawn at the start. Fully buffed him and myself. Popped the blus and i cast diaga. I ran away, he voked the boss and proceeds to rape him w/o 2 houring in 30 seconds tops. Just meditated (spelling) up, ws rape. Win, shit ton of points with 3 people. I think I got 2k for the first time bonus with no armband.

    Re: Red vs Blue with....

We tried this today for the first time after reading this thread as blm/rdm (me), pld/rdm, and thf. The first run we made a mistake since we did not know where Raubahn would spawn and we waited in the H-8 room while the thf hit the npc. The group of blus that blocked the tunnel leading to I-6 obviously didnt have Raubahn with them and it threw us for a loop as we ran around kiting trying to find him lol. We ended up losing that one but discovered Raubahn spawns in the I-6 room so lesson learned. Grabbed another tag, headed to the I-6 room had the thf hit the npc, pld diaga'd the group, I grav'd Raubahn AMII, bind, AMII, finished it off with a t2 or 3. 2400 points lol We're looking forward to spamming this one to keep up with daily salvage runs, thanks for the info.

My favourite setup for this is RDM or WHM, SAM/WAR, and BRD/NIN. It's a guaranteed win with either 1666 or 1600 points because the dude dies within 3 WS easy, and you have the option of 5.

SAM meditates -> wait 1min 30sec -> WHM or RDM Hastes, while BRD waits in front of where Rahbaun spawns -> SAM runs to BRD -> BRD casts Minuet x2 -> Haster pops the mobs -> BRD Elegies Rahbaun and kites the rest -> SAM vokes with Berserk up, Third Eye on, and Poison Potion on -> WS spam.

With Haste, Minuet x2, and Elegy on the NM there's pretty much no reason to lose.

    Re: Red vs Blue with....

I noticed a minor change in Red/Blue and I'm wondering if this was a patch change or just a random variation I haven't encountered before. I've only done Red/Blue 4 times; it could easily be a variation.

3/4 times, the NM's position was at the apex of the "bowling pins" triangle of blues: pin #1.

1/4 times, the NM's position was deeper inside: pin #3 I think.

The reason I'm curious is that if the NM is pin#1, if the blues all loose agro and roam back, you can still be fighting in the cave/nook to the north and not pull agro. The time the NM was in pin#3 spot, when the blues came back, pin#1 blue linked and chained the entire thing on us. We still won (NM was almost dead), but it was a little extra excitement I could have done without.

    Does anyone know if Rabahn's spot in that triangle was fixed at pin#1 and is now random or was he always random within that triangle? Worse, what if they make him random throughout the entire zone? Ugh, no more 1600 AP for 5m of effort. ; ;

Its not completely random; there are 2 or 3 possible layouts for the mans when you pop them. If you're having issues with linking, pull Raubahn to the west.

I think your major issue is that the BLUs are coming back in the first place. Whoever aggros the BLUs to let someone pull the NM solo, should not be dying, they should be running away until you win.

No one dies. The blues loose agro fairly quickly and just roam back of their own accord. It's not been a problem for us. The only time it would have been a problem was when I was solo'ing it as nin/whm and that time it was in pin#1 and not an issue. My worry for west was in the case for when the blues are pulled far enough away to return via the drop. I'm not sure what kind of path they take there.

If the NM is taking that long to kill, you must not be getting very many points? In my experience, the Hume dies about 2-3 minutes after the mobs are spawned, (only lost twice before to this, both on screwups). However, even when we kill it in under 20 seconds, sometimes one of the Elvaan NPCs are dead and we only get 1600 points. If any more than 2 NPCs die regularly, you'd be better off ranking up and doing Dracula.

It's convenient to do it with 3, anytime you want, but how many points are you getting per run when you win?

    Re: Red vs Blue with....

This is why I don't mind doing it with 4. NIN/WAR and DRG/BLU are responsible for the NM, RDM with w.legs kites as many BLUs as he can find, and I (WHM) stay with the friendly NPCs and cure them. Usually the enemies seem to target one friendly and mangle him horribly (not usually the leader either). It's also nice because healing magic is far from capped >.>

Lol -- dracula is a royal pain; 30m of kiting ending in barely winning. Any attempt to tank just results in a lot of bats and a lot of dead. We did manage to get up after the tank-attempt and win it, but it's not the "free AP" that red/blue is. We typically get maximum points from red/blue for our numbers (3-5 people). One time we missed out on a couple hundred, but even then as far as time:AP goes, Red v. Blue is a major win.

Our best 3-man was nin/drk, whm, thf. THF popped and then fled up to us and trained. Nin/drk souleater killed boss before blues returned.
