As far as I can tell, when you lock onto an enemy and then fire your missiles, they'll always be aimed at the enemy. But I haven't see any way to specifically lock onto weak spots, so its only really useful on normal enemies.

Hmm.. that seems like it could be problematic for later bosses where you need to target your missiles to specific points.
i.e - When fighting Thardus in MP1 where you had to hit all the different body parts.
But I guess that is what the manual aiming is for.
This is kinda cool, and I figured it was the best place to post it.

This EGM Editor has scanned the Metroid series reviews all the way back to the Super Metroid review in 1994 from EGM. (Metroid came out before the Mag did).
Just a fun look at excellent games reviewed at their own time.
Po you bastard, send me friend vouchers. I want my Mii bobble head extra 8). That article is cool, even Metroid Pinball had decent reviews, lol.
Nintendo is like, so, so close to having a competent online community setup, and Metroid is a step in the right direction. All they need now is to make every game use the single Wii system code for play, and have a more friendly interface for communicating with your buddies. The awards you get in MP3 are equivalent to achievements, right down to the notification popping up in-game after you've earned one. Which is fine by me, achievements add so much more replay to a game. All they need to do is make them viewable by others and Nintendo would take a huge step forward.
Is it time I buy a Wii? They'll probably be hard to get when brawl comes out, and it looks like there are things to sink my time into until then. You guys seem pretty excited about metroid, maybe i'll pick it up tonight.
Yes get a Wii!
Just got this today, liking it quite a bit. Also pre-ordered Mario Galaxy and SSBB while I was there. :D
You guys were talking about friend codes and stuff, what benefits does it have (I'm guessing extra stuff, probably not a lot of in-game things) or what does it give you?
I did, I hate this forum. It's made me spend so much money lol.Originally Posted by Ddz
awesome haha. Going to try and pick this game up tonight after work! Did any of you have trouble finding it? I don't want to go on a wild hunt hahaOriginally Posted by Boyiee
During the game, you collect little coins for various achievements (scanning new monsters, scanning lore, beating bosses, random things) which are used to unlock extras in the game, artwork, the soundtrack, nick-nacks. Nothing huge (for Nintendo its a nice start though), but I figure I might as well unlock as much of it as possible in a single run-through.Originally Posted by Ishido
Im gonna gamefly it, however I was at target and at gamestop, both had a ton of metroids on display. I went to target to return the Ipod in exchange for a Wii and Zelda, and I went to gamestop to see if they had gamecube controllers and for SSB:Melee but they didn't have =/Originally Posted by Ddz
You send me vouchers, you read my mind, I want that bobblehead too![]()
I wonder if it works outside of the game and I can have my Mii running around with a Samus helmet on in Wii Bowling.
And yea I love the achievement system in this game! It was so smart on N's behalf.
So much for playing it today... got stuck in Warhawk all day heh.
I bought this game last night. I decided to be stupid and open it after Salvage at 1AM and didn't get to sleep till 4AM.
So far, I think it's a lot more fun than the previous Primes. The mechanic of aiming with the Wiimote is a lot more engaging than the previous primes where you just locked onto a target and strafed while firing to beat 95% of the enemies in the previous games.
I was kind of surprised as to how early you fought Ridley in the game. He's usually a late boss in all the other games. Fighting him while falling down a shaft was pretty cool, too.

Getting this game after class today probably. Hopefully, I can get pretty far on my 4 day weekend.
Love this game so far, just got done with the first world after beating the leviathen on bryyo. so far it's freaking sweet except my only complaint is how the Ice beam is set up through your missiles, and it's not an actual beam, other than that everything is awesome.
Not going to use small font for this, because its not really a spoiler.Originally Posted by Skyylya
I read that the reason Retro decided to streamline the weapons, ie, Ice Missiles, was because they didn't want to make the controls too cumbersome, because its hard to really use the 4 directions on the d-pad, A, B, -, +, 1, 2, C and Z during fast paced combat. I don't really think thats a good reason though, but it may be because I have somewhat large hands. I don't personally have a problem hitting anything but the 1 and 2 buttons effortlessly while playing, and I think they could've just used the full d-pad for beam changes.
But, streamlining the weapons works all the same, so no biggie to me.
Yes, I own the original cart. If you're referring to the encounter in the space station at the beginning of the game, I would hardly call that a fight. =xOriginally Posted by Demosthenes
Played a bit of it last night. Friend brought it over for me to see. Wasn't feeling too well, so I just had them play once I got out of the spaceship. Seemed pretty cool, but kinda the same stuff imo ;3 Haven't had a real chance to judge it and like I said I was sick, so don't jump down my throat yet XD
hi Xer ^^)/
