Noted. I went out and tried a more functional version in merit. Used over +50racc in gear with gorget to make the WSes more reliable, and switched back to Joyeuse.

Single Minuet, no Angon, no DRK in party, higher VIT/DEF mob yields:

What's your gear set up? I've only done one merit PT since steel bullets were added and I'm pretty sure I didn't hit that high, might just not be optimal setup or I'm gimping something in the gear department.

Joyeuse, Coffinmaker, Steel Bullet, AF hat, Breeze Gorget, Suppa, Drone, P. Body, Barb. Moufles*, Rajas Ring, Merman's Ring, Amemet+1, Warwolf Belt, Dusk Trousers, AF boots. Fully merited marksmanship and sword. I swapped out a large amount of STR for ranged accuracy to compensate for the use of meat. This setup was experimental; I've yet to figure out the "right" amount of racc I need to achieve a sufficient Slug Shot hit rate. As you can see, this setup pulls away from STR and is very highly racc/ratt-oriented. Higher numbers are achievable with more STR/ratt in gear, but your WS accuracy will take a huge hit. I definitely prefer this new setup to my previous STR/ratt setup with sushi.

*Yes, Barb. Moufles are gimp. However, even though people say it drops like candy, in the three endgame LSes I've ever been in the past 2 1/2 years, I've never been present to see w. hands drop. Ever. Cursed finger gauntlets-1 have been collecting dust for 8 months now.

wow, does the gorget add THAT much acc to you, that you can afford to give up sushi? O_O Does anyone know how much acc it adds? Ill have to try with one some time.

I'd like to say "no". Most of my XP on COR, is COR/RNG @ Greater Colibiri, and while I can go without Sushi, I feel I take too nasty of a hit on my Slug Shots missing all of the sudden. Like 90-95% for sure when I have sushi on, and i'd say it drops to like 80-85% without Sushi. I play with my Slug Shot gear a lot, removing carrying amounts of Acc and STR, and always end up to with the conclusion that i'd rather hit 90%+ of my Slug Shots than use meat for higher epeen, and get those god awful annoying misses when you need them to hit. If your support job is doing 20% of a mobs HP per WS, there's not much complaining to be had imo :D

    Re: COR/Phantom Roll Thread

True, I definitely don't hit the 90-95% range in Slug Shot accuracy, but with over +75racc (gear and merits) and WS gorget, my hit rate is in the 80%+ range. I'd rather land 1.5k+ Slugs with 80% accuracy than 1k Slugs with 90% accuracy. It comes down to a simple comparison of mean Slug Shot damage. Using gear for racc and food for ratt tends to yield much higher results than the opposite, so long as you have enough Joyeuse accuracy to keep your TP gain up. The main reason is because racc gear is much easier to get than ratt gear for COR, for the most part. I'm considering taking out a bit more STR in gear for racc, to make my Slugs more consistent, but I definitely favor this setup over my previous one. Of course, capping your Slug Shot accuracy does make it more consistent, but if your party needs to rely on the COR's damage output to keep a chain up in the first place, there's a problem.

It might suit your play style more than mine. My slugs without Dia II (I haven't had an LFG made who's cast Dia II in so long it's not funny ) average 20% of a Colibiri's HP. I generally wait until around 20%~ HP left, then kill. If I were sitting on TP to do this, it'd be pretty crappy, but most of the time it works out well, and firing off a stronger Slug Shot doesn't seem worthwhile if it misses 10% more often, for extra damage. If 1k is enough to kill, i'm not gonna sacrifice my acc for bigger #s.

Necro bump, etc. I figured it was better to use an existing thread (even if ye olde) than making a new one.

I recently leveled COR to 99, and to be perfectly honest, haven't had much time to play with it much, but doing some research, it appears to me that CORs can somehow keep 11s up all the time, or at least have a really high chance of rolling "constant" 11s under the right circumstances, and I couldn't find anything on how this is accomplished (probably looking in the wrong places), though I assume it involves the use of merited snake eye, and is probably gear related.

Could anyone enlighten me, please? Thanks.

Once you get an 11-roll up, you can bust the second one without getting a Bust status. So you get one 11-roll up (perhaps with Phantom Roll) and then bust the second roll until it's an 11. Now when the first one wears off you still have an 11 on, so you get an 11 on your first roll again quickly. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

It should be noted that maintaining constant 11s is really not the best way to play COR. Your party spends a lot of time sitting without one of your two buffs (or with a weak version) due to the recast on Phantom Roll.

So if I understand it correctly, it's only after rolling the first 11 that one may "perpetuate" the 11 cycle. The first 11 is still luck-dependant, and may be easier to do with the aid of snake eye. Correct?

For the second part, the "a lot of time sitting...", refers to the time you're doubling-up, correct? Since you have to roll the buff anyway after it wears the first time.

If that's the case, then what would be athe appropriate way to handle the situation? Settle for lucky numbers? Or maybe I missed something.

What I try for when on COR. 11, then Lucky, then Highest non-unlucky number. Depending on the situation, I'll give up with high roll and just get up the next role, sometimes, less stressful/time sensitive situations, I'll keep trying for 11/lucky over and over.

This. Best possible buff in least amount of time- and in this order of priority. If I can put a steady series of lucky rolls on folks, I'm a happy camper, and usually end up Snake Eye-ing a roll that's gone 7+ and unlucky to both give at least a modest buff and possibly the 11 anyway. Most of my busts are boxcars from a 6 -> 6. If it's REALLY critical, risk the bust on a 7+, bust it away, Random Deal and hope for a reroll, failing that /panic and Wild Card the whole shebang and give everyone a present in the process and do with whatever the WC coughs up.

My number 1 piece of advise for any new COR: GET A LUZAF's RING.

For some reason on my server, less than half of CORs have them and don't know what it is when I ask them.

    Solid avice guys, thanks.

Lol, I've been playing long enough to know better when it comes to research on newly leveled jobs. Def. know what a Luzaf's Ring is, and own one. 4K IS is chump change.

Truth be told, apparently I'm too good a WHM for my COR to see the light of day, and if I had it my way, I'd go BLU to everything, but when that day comes and my COR is needed, it will be ready!

That's because plenty of them these days never went through any more of ToAU than it took to unlock the job.

You have much shorter recast with 11 up, so recast isn't the issue. Even without No.11 up, as long as you double up right before double-up status wear your pt member shouldn't sit without buff for more than 1~2 sec.

Unable to DD(or do /WHM stuff) is the main reason why CORs don't do it, the more time you spend on buffing the less time you can do something else. But if you're not DD or doing /WHM stuff on COR for w/e reason, it's better to try to get a good number with a 11 up since you're not doing anything else anyways, may as well improve buff potency. Your pt members don't have to sit and wait, you can do it when everyone else doing their own stuff. You can also try it during down time when everyone else not fighting so nobody lose dmg.

You can also stop at lucky number with a 11 up, bust that roll if you don't need it to keep a 11 up on yourself too.

It all depend on situation. Sometimes it's better to keep busting and try for 11, sometimes is not. Sometimes it's better to double up and sometimes it's not. I've been hearing ppl go "NEVER DOUBLE UP IN DELVE", and I often managed to double-up on 6 and got a 11 in delve during down time, and ready to reroll right away if it's a bust. It depend on your pt engage speed, your pt gather speed, and what's COR and everyone else doing. COR is a pretty dynamic job that you often have to make decision quick depending on the situation.

I just realized if I hit 11 on my first roll, I can give my party2nd roll, drop party - bust my roll on purpose (more likely than 11 right? if snake eye is down?). Then I can join 2nd party and get 3rd and 4th rolls quickly. In the interest of a quick buff cycle in delve
The trouble now is that pesky initial 11. Really need to get that snake eye reset augment
