If you use the formulas it becomes apparent why Penta Thrust > Mercy Stroke. Update was well done, it needed it to balance the game and actually bring some realistic use of the weapons back. Also, it finally adds some use for the RACE differences in the game. Aside from the INT difference from elvaan to taru the difference was small for the melee damage side.

That's nice, it didn't balance anything, unless your definition of balance is jeunojockeys doing damage they really shouldn't be doing. Granted the high end, well geared melees are ripping shit apart, but I don't see why auctionmonkeys should be coming close to anything. Also the race difference is bullshit, 4 acc in a mithra's favor over a hume and 8 over an elvaan means shit when everyone gained 30+ in the update alone.

Drg gets a boost cause they are piercing. Birds are weak to piercing. End of story. THF is naturally at a disadvantage when trying to play catch up to them

Final Fantasy XI Update (8/30/2007)
Several issues arose as a result of the recent version update. In an effort to compromise and continue to improve the game, the following issues have been examined and adjusted:

- An issue where players using two-handed weapons would deal too much damage has been fixed.
- An issue where the weapon "Soboro Sukehiro" was incorrectly affecting weaponskills has been fixed.
- The difficulty of the battlefield "Nashmeira's Plea" has been adjusted.
- A bonus has been added to the final reward for completing Aht Urhgan missions.
- The properties of the dagger weaponskills "Mercy Stroke" have been changed from "piercing" to "blunt".
- An issue where "Dancing Edge" would incorrectly deal piercing damage against flying enemies has been fixed.
- A new quest, "Pretending to Troll", has been added in Halvung. The rewards for this quest have been added to the auto-translate list.

Known issues:
- Monks and Ninjas currently deal less damage than two-handed weapon users. This issues is currently being examined and will be fixed as soon as possible.
- Players with "Katt" and "ice" in their name occasionally make retarded fucking comments. This issue is currently in the process of being resolved but there is no timetable for completion.

Yes update is a little overpowered, but so what. I like it, and always go by the old saying, 'never call nerf on a job' Some may not like it, but no one complained when BST, DRG or RNG got the shaft the hardest. Trust me I was here for that, the only ones bawwing were them. With all jobs at 75 and having played them all, anything SE gives is fine with me.
