Best way to get a high ratio:

Download popular things as soon as they posted
Have a good upload speed (if yours is slow, the person downloading will download much more and much faster from someone else, completeing it sooner, meaning you don't seed as much)

I have to cap uTorrent at 60 kB/s or else my ISP shuts down my modem during the month from overusage of bandwidth. =( 20 kB/s of that is always dedicated to TorrentLeech, the rest is a fight between Oink and HDBits.

As someone who takes the quality of their music very siriusaxely, this site is absolutely incredible. Low quality songs that I've had around forever I've found lossless versions of and make them sound even yummier. <3 Oink.

Also, we are going to try having half download on all disk sources. We feel that there are far too few leechers on these, and with 20,000 users there really should be alot more. For a trial period your download will only be recorded as half on HD DVD and Blu-ray disks.

EDIT: Hrm, I see something on TL that's being leeched heavily on HDBits. Difference is that the TL version is in .rar parts but the HDBits version comes unrared... how do I make it so I can leech the file off TL and up it on HDBits (so I don't have to down on HDBits, thus putting me over the 10GB mark)?

It depends on what kind of music you're into. If you listen to top 40s stuff then yea you can get that anywhere. But if you're into more indie bands or up and coming groups, they're pretty much impossible to find elsewhere. Oink pretty much has any band anyone will ever search for on it. It's also a place for people who really care about the quality of their music as no low quality music files are accepted and you will be punished pretty harshly for trying to upload even a transcode.

People with shit ratios need to understand that they can rip/encode, torrent and upload their own CDs as well. It's a sharing site. Share your CD collection.

With µTorrent you can right click on the torrent -> Advanced -> Set Download Location, but make sure that the file names are the same (the one you unrar'd and the one in the files list of the torrent).
