And are Alzadaal and Olduum descendents of Zilart or are they part of the 5 races? Who made Gordeus and Lightbringer? Olduum? And what were the original purposes of these two powerful artifacts. From what Odin and Alexander speak of they do not appear to be like the other avatars, they don't seem to hate Vana'diel and long for life before it like the sleeping avatars in the protocrystals
Also the Alexander that's huge and takes up the remnants on the map is the 1st body of Alexander in the form of the Iron Colossus built by the old empire. Alexander chooses instead to ressurect in the brand new model, (the ugly black one that's basically a reskinned Chariot) I wonder why the old iron colussus is in the .dats but is in a smaller form(the real colusses is gigantic, taking up 1/3 of the regional map, but the .dat of it shows he's avatar sized and he's all purply and looks like a Barbie's Life-Size Dream house.
The hell are you talking about? He looked badass. Like some big black Power Ranger with mini building on his head. He doesn't look ugly at all.Originally Posted by SeraphusRagnarok

has anyone seen dark rider running around since the patch?
would be interested to see if MAYBE he was ninja unlocked by SE and might have been stripped of his invincibility

At the ancient Phrygian capital of Gordium, Alexander "undid" the tangled Gordian Knot, a feat said to await the future "king of Asia." According to the most vivid story, Alexander proclaimed that it did not matter how the knot was undone, and he hacked it apart with his sword. Another version claims that he did not use the sword, but actually figured out how to undo the knot.
In the ToAU story the Gordeus is the key part of summoning Alexander. It could be that ToAU's Gordeus is the key to conquering other lands via use of Alexander. Since Alex does seem interested in Conqering.
The swords role in it all is sketchy though. We know that the original Alexander-Odin feud flattened the Oldumm, and that they sent the Gordeus (Required to summon him) and the Sword (Unknown Factor) to different Empires and Continents.
Given the Sword's inexplicable power it could be that it may have belonged to Alexander or was used to somehow defeat him. Or that it had something to do with the summoning/fight/ensuing destruction that related to Alexander's first summoning and encounter with Odin.
Sword's role is all to random in this. Hard to speculate at 2am.
It could be due to the fact that the Empire had to create artificial Candecenses that may have lacked the power/mirrors to power a colossus on the scale of the original. Also the Alexander that's huge and takes up the remnants on the map is the 1st body of Alexander in the form of the Iron Colossus built by the old empire. Edit: Could be that the Body we see is infact the intended Control Terminal for the Ruins/Alex final form/summon/body since whatsisface climbs into it.
Where was it stated the Lightbringer was a relic from the Olduum civilization? Kinda curious as I don't recall ever hearing it until this thread
Me neither, but it's 2am so I'm rolling with it.Originally Posted by Rocl

Based on the stories in the tribune, it's safe to say there are 2 beings for each avatar: the original god and the dude/thing it manifested in. This is unless the stories are false, but we know that Alex and Odin have inhabited different things, so it's safe to assume the legends hold some truth. The god would be pre-paradise nerf, and the mortal would be post-nerf.Originally Posted by SeraphusRagnarok

Obviously Aphmau were schizophrenic and talked to herself through those dolls?Originally Posted by SeraphusRagnarok
Puppets didn't talk until the came into contact with Astral Candescence in Al Zahbi, and I like to think that the Candescences hold some sort of significance with the afterlife (it glowing up when Aphmau revived and all) and perhaps the late Emperor and Empress inhabited the puppet's then lifeless bodies to continue raising their daughter. >_> idk Though it was stated at the last CS it was more Razfahd in MnejingOriginally Posted by Uzor
The Gordion Knot mythology has Alexander solve the problem by cutting the knot with a sword. The San d'Orian mission storyline follows the pursuit of Lightbringer, a legendary sword that Ranperre D'Oraguille used to "tame the beasts that wreaked havok" - an alternate to this storyline explains how the Elvaan tribes were freed from Tarutaru subjugation on Quon by discovering TWO artifacts, one held by Ranperre, the other by the founding father of Tavnazia. Focusing on Lightbringer for now, its physical appearance resembles a halfbreed of metallic workmanship similar to the ruins of Alzadaal (look at the hilt) and some sophisticated technological blade. When unsheathed, it will "absorb energy from its surrounding environment and transform it into a force more powerful than any other." When unsheathed, the holder describes a feeling as if all other life is insignificant (Rochefogue) and as if they were a god (Trion). The pollen from a Dream Rose can subdue the sword's power for a short time.
Secondly, Tavnazia and Aht Urghan have had a long standing relationship, up to the point when Tavnazia was destroyed by the unsheathing of Lightbringer; after which the ambassador from Tavnazia residing in Aht Urghan was promptly kicked out. From this point on, up to the point where the San d'Oria missions begin, Lightbringer is lost. The location of the other artifact is never revealed.
Now for the speculation: The second artifact is the Gordeus, relinquished by Tavnazia to Aht Urghan for study. Sage Walahra studies it, and discovers its true importance, but the Crystal War and the conflict with the Far East prevents any action to be taken. I speculate that Lightbringer is actually the master control "animator" for Alexander, and that Emperor Alzadaal actually wielded it to this purpose waaaaay back in the day. Unsheathing Lightbringer causes a part of Alexander to awaken and causes the destructive force; while the Dream Rose forces Alexander back to slumber. Lastly, there is a definite connection between Lightbringer and mechanical beings; as the Orcs desired to merge Lightbringer with a warmachine to make a more powerful weapon.
The Gordeus and Lightbringer both have been spoken of as being a key to unlocking the origins of all beings, so they are probably connected in some fashion - perhaps all of the problems in Aht Urghan will end once Lightbringer is used to pierce the Gordius.
Maybe it's Odin vs. Alexander because Zantetsuken is conveniently a sword? Odin used it in the AM44 CS.
Isn't his Gungnir a Sword/Spear hybrid? Because in Einherjar he says:
"The true power of Gungnir cometh not from the blade herself, but from the countless souls it hath sent to the corpse-halls of the Underworld!"
"Mine platinum blade shalt split atwain the threads of thy future...
...whilst its obsidian fuller shalt channel the lifeblood of thy past.
Now wail as thy soul is bestrewn across the plains of Valhalla!"
