    meh, mage ring is pretty lackluster but I'm going to be getting it anyway. I will probably never use it on my red mage except for sleep and gravity, mainly because if I actually wanted more accuracy/skill I'd have many more places to get it (tabard, cape, legs to start). I'll get the most use out of it on bard or those rare occasions when a virga pops from the arrapago starter chest and my group lets me have it because I complain about rdming that zone so much.

    Hmm, a little off topic, but what order do you guys give rings to during salvage? In general, we tend to give mages the ring cells first, but I've been hearing different reading these posts ; ; We have moderate MP problems, ie: a whm resting while the rdm/whm picks up the slack full time on boss fights.

    Mage. The melee one isn't very useful for blu outside of assault/salvage, and I couldn't care less about having a few extra dex/acc in zones where I don't need it. Will use it full time on brd, and rdm maybe for drain/aspir/bind/grav/stun/sleep? It's a free 4macc for stupid blue enfeebles as well, and the refresh will help out all three jobs in assault.

    Melee one seems pretty dumb for any job outside of assault/salvage. Obviously 2-handers won't want to use it, but even for thf/nin/mnk/ridill, it seems worse than a toredors or sniper+1, trading 3 acc for 4 atk seems counterproductive if you are trying to eat meat. Maybe a marginal improvement over a nq sniper, but not much...

    I would hope the next expansion has an assload of content that functions as 'assault', or these items are pretty terrible as the reward for beating the damn expansion.

    Used to be melee always got rings first but as of this update I'm gonna be giving rings to mages who have the Refresh Ring, first. Our main RDM and WHM got them so we're set.

    this is true about the divisor, although on the way up that jaeger you have collecting dust works too; so (at least in my case) conditional ring refresh (at 75) vs. +4 free attack on lowbie jobs isn't even a contest.

    I guess it depends on how you approach analyzing these rings. from an assault/salvage @ 75 viewpoint, it's gonna be based mostly on what does the most for the jobs you use inside there.

    from a 'what will I use the most outside'? it's pretty clear that the melee or ranged rings are better (m.acc+4, while a nice perk, is not att/acc+4 or ratt/racc+6 even if it is a unique stat for a ring)

    we usually call rings for salvage in this order:
    mnk(tank), mnk(2nd), rng(if present), whm(me), melee free, mage free,

    once I have the refresh ring, I'll probably give me ring 2nd unless we're not expecting to see 4. - part of this is that we don't have a rdm in the team currently, so I'm doing full cure/debuff/haste duties with no convert to fall back on. (and an improvement of 7->8 is a bit 'more noticeable' than an improvement of 10->11)

    All I know is I'm having a difficult time choosing. My mains are BRD and PUP. BRD having extra M.Acc outside would be nice, but I generally used Ether/Astral, so losing the MP isn't something I take lightly (I'm elvaan and usually have around 350 MP). I don't have too much trouble landing debuffs, but a missed lullaby or elegy is very annoying to me. Also Requiem is nice to land on Chariots, but I usually get resisted ~45% on those. I should also mention that I'm not finished with singing/wind merits, so that could potentially fix all my problems. For PUP, it's hard to find Attack gear in ANY slot, so having a ring with ACC/ATK is really appealing. As far as Salvage/Assault bonuses, I always go on BRD with my Storm Fife, so the melee ring extra bonuses wouldn't do anything for me. I get rings, SJ, and MP near last in our Salvage low man group (~7 of us), so it's not like refresh on a ring is important to me there either. I'm trying to base my decision based solely on outside bonuses. I chose Rajas ring from CoP and definitely think that was the right decision.

    I'm holding off on choosing a ring for now, but I can see how that's biting me already. NQ Snipers are dropping like a rock on my server (500k pre-update to 250k post-update; 7 on AH atm). I play BRD for merits/dynamis/salvage and PUP for soloing/helping LS/funtimes and would say that PUP is my "true passion" for a main job. Any suggestions on which ring I should take?

    Personally I think Ulthalam's Ring has the best utility overall (if you have one more melee jobs).

    I don't do Salvage and Assault that much, so those stats don't really apply to me, but -1 Accuracy and +4 ATK (compared to Sniper's or Woodman's Ring) is pretty nice to have.

    And even if you do Assault or Salvage a lot, 4 STR and 4 DEX is hot also (Especially if you use a 2H weapons lewlz)

    pup? get the melee ring. you won't use either inside really and acc+4/att+4 at level 50 blows m.acc+4 out of the water really.

    Went with Balrahn's since I do Assault as either BRD or WHM, and Salvage I am almost always WHM. Now I have an earring+ring reward for my melee and my mage jobs (Suppa+Rajas, Magnetic+Balrahn's).

    I chose Balrahn's, I am mostly BLM to Salvage and it's also handy for whenever I am BLM/SMN/BLU to Assault. Hopefully these rings will work in the assault style stuff they have planned for WotG aswell.

    The best way would be to merge all these specific rings into "In battlefield:", that would make it worthwhile to actually obtain these stuff.

    Had a hard time at first (was a bit disappointed, before really analyzing them) deciding which ring to get. I'm BRD SMN BLM and THF; and even though I always put my mages first, the attk/acc acc full time bonus were pretty attractive. Ended up choosing Balrahn's which I now consider an awesome ring; the m.acc is great for BRD debuffs and BLM enfeeble macros, and at Salvage/Assault the difference really shows; though shame that is totally worthless outside of "Assault:" for a SMN. IMO, several mage jobs people that spend a lot of their playtime in Salvage/Assault will benefit greatly from this ring, but if you're a melee+mage that won't make a worthy use out of the "Assault:" will have no regrets choosing the attk/acc full time ring.

    If you're a career RNG, you just lucked out. Otherwise, the melee ring seems to have the most usability if you aren't living in assault/salvage.

    I'm probably not going to choose right away either. Career BST, but already have Snipers+1 x2 and a Rajas. However I've been going from a mixed meat setup to all haste/sushi lately and could use the extra atk.

    My BRD would like the M.Acc +4 and so would my BLM when I have to enfeeble. Mostly use BRD for nyzul assaults and salvage as well.

    I'm not picking until there's a better reason to. New update might bring better reasons to pick one over the other. Or i might level another job in the futute. I don't see why you have to pick one now. It's not like Rajas.

    Gonna second this. Give some mages rings for once, especially blm.. novio/mold/tamas/balrahns: this does more bonus to a blm/rdm then it could possibly give to any other job getting rings. So yeah mnks > blm rdm > rest, is how it is from now on in our group
