Unless you don't have an overzealous healer around or the blm has full armor, how would you proc it?Originally Posted by Lyramion

Hmm, before hp unlock you should have around 400~500hp, I would say if you get rings and use ether + serket + astral, that should be enough to proc sorcerer.
I was told that when you are under the HP restriction Sorc Ring does still count towards your real max HP and should be always active.
Pimped out BLMs can get 22MATK + 5INT or 22MATK + 4INT+ Refresh from just that single Ring/Ear Cell in Salvage.
EDIT: This brings to my brain, that I should bring my Medicine Ring next time - would go nicely with the Balrahn´s
I picked the mage ring, although im still skeptical about it... it offers a good non-latent stat for rdm, and possibly for blm on high resistance mobs... but not really anything for whm/brd/smn. It will pose useful to me in salvage though, so I think i made a good choice.
you don't cast enfeebles on whitemage? (actually, not as surprised now that I think about it; you'd just redmage in the situations where you need an enfeebling healer) for a whitemage who doesn't have redmage but does enfeeble sometimes, that ring is pretty hot.Originally Posted by Shizmo
I disagree, Magic Accuracy +4 owns CHR+5 (Heavens Ring), even more when your others slots are already full of Skill/CHR for landing debuffs.Originally Posted by Shizmo
I'm doing the some. Neither of these scream "outstanding" to me, so I'll pick neither untill I find a situation that really requires me to get it. Same reason why I still haven't picked up an AN earring yet.Originally Posted by Xavier

I rarely mage in Salvage/Assault, and as nice as the melee ring is for me (I use Jaeger/Rajas), WotG is a couple months away. I'd rather see if there ARE actuall assault type areas instead of assuming there will be like some others are and get shafted.
Can anyone confirm/deny this, btw?Originally Posted by Lyramion
There will never be a situation that scream "outstanding" unless they literally change their stats. Refresh is hot, but it will never become a full time thing and will be limited to certain event. I don't really see any reason to not pick one now, unless you never play a job that could use those rings. Chance is they are going to allow you to repick the ring eventually like they did last update with suppa anyway.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

As far as I know, Minstrel's Ring (which I don't have) has always worked differently than Sorcerer's Ring, i.e. it takes current HP and not base HP into account for latent activation.
if it does, then it's a unique and beautiful snowflake (because every other ring works like sorc ring)Originally Posted by Bakthi
and since SE doesn't do unique and beautiful snowflakes (why write new code for one item when you can reuse code from another item?) minstrel's ring works just like the other 14(17?) level 50 rings.

The only two I've used personally are the Sorcerer's and Conjurer's Rings. They both work the same way with Converts HP->MP gear not reducing your total HP for purposes of the latent (i.e. I wear Zenith Mitts, have 77% HP from <hpp>, and it works). The Conjurer's Ring isn't useful enough for me to justify carrying crap around to proc it.![]()
But, I have seen people report that some of the other rings aren't the same and actually require yellow HP. I do have a Shinobi's Ring in my D.box that I could test out once the FFXI update for PC finishes downloading though.
medicine works the same as sorc/conjurers.Originally Posted by evilpaul
they should all work that way, just some jobs can't get enough hp>mp gear.
