Chocobo H&C post August Update

Using the grass today in Eastern Altepa I received a message about my choco being "especially energetic" which I assume relates to the "resting for 36 hours" change. VCS Crate contained:
Chocobuck Slip
Gausebit Grass
Jug of Fragrant Antica Broth
Ingot of Vivified Mythril

I used noticeably more digs than I'd normally be allowed. After 7 digs I got the fatigued message, and found the crate after the fourth dig above it's location. Slip was worth 8 or 9 chocobucks? Not sure, don't remember how much I had before, he only told me total afterwards.

Ive done 3 h&c after update in Altepas one failed, 2 chocoslips each [5] chocobucks, notable items buffalo hide & commode, I dont think theres new items but chocoslips are nice since im raising 1 or 2 more chocobos.

If you dont do h&c one day you will get a new message "Your chocobo is filled with energy today!" or something like that, that adds digs to the total allowed.

Also 3 succesful treasure digs gives Treasure Finder to chocobos that dont have the ability and doubles the effect for those that allready have it (Im guessing it needs less KHEWWWW to dig treasure), It will probably give a message when using the Grass.

Treasure Finder gives an additional message when you would normally be in the "Kweh"-zone. I am not sure what the double Treasure Finder does when your Chocobo already have the job trait.

I've done Hot & Cold once since the update (I made sure to grab a Tandjana Wildgrass last night, but didn't have the chance to use it), I got one Chocobuck cards on both characters in Jugner. (They both had a [1] in the bottom right corner, and were one Chocobuck when I traded them in.) Are the advanced zones worth digging in for gil and Chocobucks? It just seems a waste to me since they are so unpredictable when you have a chocobo with no digging traits.

If you're not a high level chocobo digger, you might want Burrow instead of Bore. It's a lesser form of the skill, and so high level diggers go for Bore instead. (Burrow, Bore, and 'no skill' each get their own pool of items. So a bird with Burrow will have more chance to get items, even if the items aren't as good.)

If you don't do digging at all, then go crazy and put whatever in that second slot.

Do the mental stats help with Hot & Cold? My digging skill is fairly low (I recently got to the point where I can dig again after it finishes the previous message) so I am not too concerned about building a pure digging bird. If they don't, I'll just try to make one with decent physical stats, treasure hunter, and bore.

Digging skill doesn't apply to H&C, but burrow and bore help, I think

Well, a chocobo with bore and/or burrow supposedly need less digs to get the treasure, so it is helpful for zones like Valkrum where you have less digs to work with.

I have two eggs sitting around from the one Brutus quest. Maybe I should try to quickly turn out a pair of custom chocos for Hot & Cold.

Can you use a different chocobo for racing than for digging/whistle?

Yes, lol. You get one chocobo for racing, and another chocobo for whistle/H&C. Right now I have a FC STR/END choco for racing with no abilities, and a FC DIS/REC Bore/TF choco for whistle/H&C. I'm working on a FC STR/END Bore/TF chocobo to replace my current whistle one (atm day 50 Better than Average STR, A bit deficient END and both abilities), and then I'll work on a more balanced yet physical-weighted Cantor/Gallop choco to replace my current racing one.

For sure. I have a racing bird I use to earn chocobucks and a pretty red bird I have for digging, H&C, and having noobs say 'gimme yur chocobo' about.
