  • Yes. I don't see a major problem here, but they'll probably do something to make WS damage less dramatic.

  • Yes. The WS adjustment and STR to Att conversion should have been enough. The pDIF and DEX:acc changes are far too much.

Even when SE makes the adjustment all its going to do is make 2h weaponskills more calm than they are right now but 2h'ers will still be majorly buffed. I bet ppl still whine and bitch about it after. I mean people better get over it eventually, it was about time SE shook things up with an update.

The fact that the 40% for Ruke brings him significantly higher and is a higher damage boost for him then it is for almost any other two-handed weapon user? Most other two-handed weapon users were being out-damaged by a much higher margin then 40% compared to the average well geared WAR/NIN or MNK.
    That doesn't answer my question...

    Ok, how about this.

It's invalid because he doesn't represent the population. This is like factoring in Bill Gate's income to that of the average American.

I must have missed the memo about Spharai no longer being a relic, explaining why clearly Amanomurakumo should do way more damage.

Oh and the part about what SJ a MNK should use to be more offensive than /WAR too.

And people need to realize Rukenshin plays by the same goddamn rules as everyone else. Stop acting like he's the goddamn chosen one.

I will admit Ruke is very well geared, merited, and skilled... however!

We are comparing Ruke to Ruke, the playing field is leveled.

When you start posting parses of Spharai post-update, then we'll talk. Rukenshin has posted parses of Amanomurakumo post-update.

protip: spharai are a marginal improvement over destroyers in terms of damage.

if you're outparsing a decked-out MNK with destroyers, chances are you're outparsing a decked-out MNK with spharai.

I see. That's a problem with the relic weapon then for MNK. I still want to see some parses for people without relics comparing MNKs and WAR/NINs versus two-handed weapon users that back all these complaints up.

    Re: Will They Fix It?

    couple things:

-spharai is less of a difference maker (and thus arguably an inferior relic) than amano, since Final Heaven is trashy. The difference between destroyers and spharai is less than hagun and amano.

-if you're still trying to argue that SAM isn't a bit overpowered right now, you're uh, wrong. They're now a dominating fodderburn job and are even more insane as a HNM DD, and are now much stronger at zerging as well. There's no reason they shouldn't be a strong overall DD (since that's basically all they can do- no great solo capability or great tanking/hate capability outside of damage), but flat out the WS dmg on mobs across the board right now is a tad much.

    EDIT: t -> w

    Re: Will They Fix It?

Who knows how relics specifically mess with the 2hand damage formulas, or if relic+update is indeed broken even with the upcoming update, imo, a relic should be broken.

Shouldn't we have seen how the update affects normal weapons/gears before we made conclusions from such an specialized sample?

Basing our conclusions on that parse is like observing one superstrong tree pest destroy one species of tree and concluding that all of the forests in the world are doomed.

We should just forget Ruk's parse as an indicator of what the update means for the total of the ffxi community. All it is now is the talking point for dual-wielders and monks to claim the sky is falling as an acorn drops on their head.

We're not comparing Ruk to Ruk in any meaningful way as its a parse with a relic, you're equating a relic+update to the total average playerbase+update, which don't equate.

All the more reason to disregard parses of samurais with amano.

I'm trying to argue that any complaint is bullshit without proof to back it. So many complaints and wild claims have been made in this thread to justify why the two-handed weapon change should be nerfed. SAMs may very well be doing too much damage right now. However, SAM doing too much damage is not a reason to nerf the two-handed weapon change, as that affects DRKs and DRGs and great-axe wielding WARs as well. That's a reason to nerf something that is SAM specific, which isn't the two-handed weapon change.

And even then, I want proof to back up all these claims that AH-geared DRKs and DRGs and SAMs and great axe WARs are parsing too close to decked-out WAR/NIN and MNK, and the claims that equally geared DRKs or DRGs or SAMs are out-doing WAR/NIN and MNK/WAR by a noticable margin.

Why the fuck are ppl quoting Ruk's parse? You'd be hardpressed to find anyone who out parses ruk before or after the update.

Ryko posted a parse of his Hagun sam absolutely trouncing a BB/shura/haidate/meritted MNK/WAR by about 40% to 30%.

Really? I must of missed that parse then. That'd make a good argument for nerfing SAM.

Surprisingly enough, it's in that 'parses after the patch' thread.

A madrigal or a hunter's roll would have boosted the monk by quite a bit.
Looks quite broke, but not that much considering that it's Ryko.

Ryko's SAM doesn't even have GKT merit too IIRC

So between PDIF, STR/DEX new calculation, something tore the fabric of reality within SAM or something.

10% is far from the "zomg broken" that people are talking about. Also notice how the songs are played in the 2H's favor, it'd be difference if it were mar/mad instead.

And Ryko has no GKT merits; he would've benefited from accuracy as well. Pretty sure the mnk was full h2h.

And again, I don't think the patch is bad; just some parts could use a little toning down. For example, drop the WS avg down to say, 1k (still a respectable number for a 1 hitter and would retain that sort of strength on HNMs, SAM's traditional forte) and things get a bit more evened out.

Oh, and let's not start the "zomg but it's ryko" thing.
