I really think Oregon needs to more than win out. I think there's a very good chance that Oklahoma or Kansas will jump Oregon if they win out. They both have a tougher road down the stretch, and in the last poll of the season, teams routinely jump Pac-10 teams due to regional voting tendencies (UO in 2001, Cal in 2005).Originally Posted by Akiyama
If Kansas finishes the season undefeated, they really should have a shot at it. They haven't played a single team currently ranked in the top 25, but they have dominated most of their games, and they will have two games against top 6 teams in the next few weeks. Of course, the anti-BCS proponent in me says "Let's have two one loss teams go to the championship game over a no loss BCS team; let's see the BCS try to continue to justify their existence after that mess."
Just goes to show how much we need a playoff/+1 system for these types of things. If LSU v. Oregon ended up being the National Title game with an undefeated Kansas who won their Conferance Championship and a Hawaii team.. well.. they still don't count, but either way.. Kansas would need to go back in time to meet Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown, Jason Cambell and the rest of the Auburn Tigers of 04. D: That's all of course if Kansas were to win tonight, continue to win out and beat Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship. I just don't see that happening, but we'll see I guess. If anything that's happened this season in college football, it's the fact that absolutely anything can happen.Originally Posted by Byrd

What the hell happened to Kansas State? I'm not a fan or foe of them, but I remember them looking fairly decent about a month back and then they give up 73 to Nebraska of all teams.

I was there. It was a very strange game. Jake Locker (UW QB) goes off the field in an ambulance, 4 ejections (3 from Oregon State's secondary), two late big Husky passes from the backup QB taking advantage of OSU's depleted secondary to pull the game within a score, followed by a horrible, horrible non-review which (from my vantage, and that of the sportscasters, all of whom are biased) allowed UW to have the ball with the chance to win. This was followed by the surreal experience of Oregon State having won the game and celebrating bowl eligibility while the home crowd was vehemently booing (the officials, but still booing). It was the strangest game I've ever been at.Originally Posted by Ishido

Byrd do you go to UW or OSU? i go to UW, and that was the funniest game i've ever seen. (not the jake locker part)Originally Posted by Byrd
I'm an OSU alum/season ticket holder. I can see the humor in the game, but personally losing 3/4 of our secondary due to stupid personal fouls, and letting UW back into the game with a chance to win was more like "Oh no, not again," than funny to me. The lack of review in the end zone play was incredulous to me.Originally Posted by ciechi

Penn St (-3) at Michigan St
West Virginia (-6.5) at Cincinnatti
Oklahoma (-9) at Texas Tech (points tiebreaker game)
Iowa State (+26) at Kansas
Kentucky (+8) at Georgia
Ohio State (-4) at Michigan
Boston College (+7.5) at Clemson
Maryland (+8) at Florida State

I think I got my 10 pt game figured out. A bunch of road favorites this week, again...
Rofl. Yeah.. 10 pointer there is easy and I swear to god if Iowa State wins, I quit College Football.Originally Posted by Byrd

Nominee for worst call of the year. If UW had won that game, there very well might have been a crowd rushing the field for entirely the wrong reason.
Another nominee for worst call, from a different game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMf5DZOy3Mg
I saw this pointed out earlier, and thought it was pretty funny.
There's still a shot (actually a pretty tough longshot) that OSU could make the national championship game.
There's currently 6 teams ahead of them in the BCS. 3 of the teams are in the Big 12, and either have to play eachother or will face eachother in the conference title game, meaning 2 of them will lose. With a win over Michigan (that's another big if), OSU should jump the 2 losing big 12 teams.
I think they will also jump WVU even if WVU wins out. This is because while WVU still has 2 games vs. currently ranked opponents left, after beating them and the 2nd to last rankings come out, it's likely that WVU will have beaten no teams ranked in the top 25, while OSU will have played 4 ranked teams (Illinois, PSU, Wiscy, Mich...also assuming those teams win their last week minus Mich). Also, with the love fest the media has had with the Mich-OSU rivalry, I think the human voters could jump OSU over WVU if OSU wins. And I believe OSU is beating WVU in the computer polls. Plus you can't exactly write off Cincy and UConn with how back and forth the Big East has been.
The above scenario is pretty likely to happen. The longshot comes with LSU and Oregon, as both teams have to lose. But since both teams will have 2 games left + a conference title game it's not too hard to imagine. If they both lose, OSU would end up playing the Big 12 champ in the natl championship.
I really don't even really care if OSU gets back up to #2, just figured I'd pass this along. Especially with how this year has played out so far...I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up happening.
Late edit: Oops Pac-10 doesn't have a conference champ game, but Oregon still has 3 games left anyway.
Wow.. horrible call on the OSU game.Originally Posted by Byrd
Also, I saw the UConn v. Louisville game myself. I know it was a fair catch, but the Louisville players should have still gone full out on the play. Either way.. was still a shitty call by the refs on a non-reviewable play.
Dennis Dixon out with a knee injury, and Arizona ahead in the second quarter. This game is considerably more interesting than I expected it to be.
EDIT: 31-11 Arizona in the 2nd quarter.... It's not over yet, but it could be yet another #2 losing on Thursday night.
Dennis Dixon for the Heisman? Done. Oregon in the National Title? Done.
