....I mean really, if you consider how hard it is to get another top ranked team to play you at the start of the season, I'd say that's pretty strong evidence that Snyder was out to get some big games on the schedule outside the conference, this isn't Ohio State where the only non conferece regular season games that mattered they've played in the last 20 years are 2 games vs Texas.

I agree he scheduled tougher teams after he was heavily criticized for scheduling cupcakes by the media in the late 90s, but here is more so the time period I was talking about where he built them to what seemed to be their peak under him.

97: N. Illinois, Ohio, Bowling Green
98: Indiana State, Northern Illinois, Louisana Monroe
99: Temple, UTEP, Utah State
00: Louisiana Tech, Ball State, North Texas

More than anything they just got shat on for being k-state. That 98 team was undefeated going into the big 12 championship ranked #1, lost a fluke in triple overtime, and went from the national championship to a former #1, one loss team playing in the Alamo Bowl. (which they promptly went in and handed to Purdue, clearly not giving a shit)

And sure, they had a few scrub teams on their schedule those years, they still went 11-1, 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 those 4 years, including losses in the big 12 championship and bowl games both of the 2-3 loss years. During this time frame, they played Nebraska, Colorado, and Oklahoma or Texas every year with all of them being perennial championship contenders, as well as very good OSU and Missou teams. Very very much a current SEC-like situation where scheduling huge out of conference games would be much more likely to harm than to help.


(p.s. Bob Stoops, Mike Stoops, and Mangini ALL bailed on the team before that big 12 championship in 98, basically stripping the entire defensive coaching staff a few days before the biggest game in K-State history.)

Nice win by Arkansas. Man that was a really great game. 205 on the ground for McFadden against a very stout LSU defense. He plays for a sub par team by that should not count against him in the run for the Heisman.

It'll be interesting to see how Tebow finishes the season and what the over all opinion is of voters.


Edit: lolTexas just lost to Texas A&M, I remember when Colt McCoy was the supposed to be tough and gritty like a younger Favre last year as a freshman and how he could make fans in Austin forget about Vince Young. How quick the media is to anoint someone without merit.

Dennis Franchione stepped down directly after the win over UT. I knew this was an inevitability but damn, they JUST won and finished the press conference.

On a separate note, After the Buffs dropped 65 on Callahan's ass, he should be the next one out of the door. With that being said, it is just merely a matter of time before he is handed his walking papers as well.

Hawaii is infamous for that, moreso than any other school I can think of. A lot of schools won't go play them for that exact reason.

Or if Tenn loses and Georgia wins out...you think Georgia jumps OSU? Hell, even WVU has 2 very losable games left.

Honestly.. anyone in the Top 6 has a chance to go. I see Mizzou beating Kansas this week (Because #2 is not safe for anyone), then losing to Oklahoma like you said. That takes out the Big 12. Now we have Ohio State and WV. WV COULD lose to UConn this week. I mean seriously.. UConn's D really is pretty damn good, considering. Ohio State is in a bowl game no matter what, so if what people think will happen to the Big 12 happens, and one of those two teams lose, Ohio State is in the driver seat. Personally, I'd love to see Kansas v. Ohio State or WV v. Ohio State. OSU would dread playing WV though since the Big 10 can't seem to handle playing against a spread offense very well. Illinois can attest to this after beating OSU afterall.

Either way, we could all be wrong, Kansas could run the tables, WV could run the tables and that's our National Championship game. I don't care though because this has been the best season ever. Not good for those picking games because going with the higher ranked team every week has fucked me over, but it's been great for my fan side.

There's a couple things I'm looking at.


For one thing, with LSU losing KU is effectively #1, so they're kinda safe from the #2 hex lol.



But also, while I think KU is going to win, I do think that if Mizzou can put up enough points to beat KU, they won't have any trouble beating OU. I'm thinking the winner tomorrow will make it.
