VT jumps...oh wait, VT jumps absolutely nobody, even though they won more impressively against a higher ranked opponent. Not only that, VT also gets jumped by LSU.

LSU beat Virginia Tech by 41 early in the season; I have no problems with them jumping VaTech. The polls are reactionary enough that there is the knee-jerk "They lost, they must drop" that happens to every team, regardless of who is below them. They probably shouldn't have fallen as much as they did after they lost.

The system sucks, the polls suck, the whole situation sucks. I'm not excited about LSU vs. Ohio State for the national championship, but there's no real pair of teams right now that would excite me. I don't have a problem with the two teams we're going to end up with the current system; I think it's a problem with the system, not the teams involved.

As you all know, I just wanted non-conference champ Kansas or non-conference champ Georgia to make the title game, just to make it as ridiculous as possible. Or Hawaii, whatever works. I could give a shit less about OSU honestly - as a Badger and a Hurricane by schools, I really couldn't hate OSU more as a fan.

Id rather see GA play USC than OSU. Those are the 2 best teams in the nation right now. It looks like that's an impossible outcome tho.

First, as said before, VT shouldn't jump LSU due to the whooping they got dished earlier in the season by the tigers. Should they have jumped Kansas and UGA? Maybe but I don't think so. Yeah they won their Conference but it was the ACC. But just because they won the ACC Championship doesn't mean they have to move up. It just gives the Hokies another merit to be judged on. With that win helping their profile, I still don't think they are better than UGA. Blah blah blah yeah UGA didn't go to the conference championship but look at who we played throughout the year. We didn't go to the championship because we lost a tiebreaker at the end of the year.

Second, Tyche I agree 100% with you. I was praying for a chance to play at the Rose Bowl but that won't happen now that the Sugar Bowl is most likely going to pick first and grab UGA. I had tickets for the Rose Bowl and all so I'm still holding onto a miracle that OU goes to the BCS (if not UGA) and the Rose Bowl shocks everyone and picks a non-Big10 team

Yeah, only possible if LSU somehow doesn't make the nat'l championship - although even if that happens I'd be surprised if the two conferences with the most to monetarily gain from the fucked-up BCS wouldn't still put Illinois in the Rose Bowl. Georgia is probably going to get Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.

Just as a factual technicality, VT didn't have to "jump" LSU in the USA-Today poll, they were already ranked ahead of LSU coming into this week. That's why it was weird.

Why is everyone bagging on LSU, they won the SEC championship without their starting QB and the best defensive player in the country. They lost 2 games, both in triple overtime. If anyone should be out of the championship, it's ohio state and their overrated defense that couldn't hold a spread offense to save their lives. Cheers to beating Washington on the road, great win! That's awesome.

I think TN would of won if Flynn was in the game, Dorsey from what I seen wasn't THAT big of a factor.

LSU just doesn't impress me, all I see is how ESPN jumps on Michigan/Notre Dame/USCs cock they are doing the same with LSU now.

Triple teaming one guy should easily bring out other all stars in your defense unless you aren't good. Well not saying good, but not as good as everyone has made you out to be.

Edit: Meh I guess you could say that they held them, but everyone knew this game would be a defensive struggle.

Yeah, that was a nasty chop block. Dorsey hasn't been healthy since the beginning of the year. Having Flynn might have been pretty good too even though the backup still played pretty well. I still think if Dorsey was 100%, it wouldn't have been as close because he'd be in the backfield a lot more.

I'm just curious to see what yall think needs to happen with the BCS... Is it the best we have and we just have to deal with it? Should there be a playoff system? If so, what kind do yall think would work?

My opinion is a playoff system where the top four teams play and the winners play each other in 3-4 weeks later around Jan. 5 for the championship. My reasons: One more game isn't too difficult. Right now there will be 5 weeks off between games. You can easily have a bye week after conference championships, play the playoff games, then wait 3 weeks to play the bowl games. Also, I wouldn't invite more than 4 teams for the chance to make it to the championship game. In the last 7-8 years there have been 6 years with problems over which two teams are the best. Each year it is between three teams... maybe four. But the fifth best team has never had a legitimate argument as to why they should be there. With 4 teams, you get all the "best of the best" teams and make sure the #8 ranked team doesn't get hot and win it.

Boise State may have last year. A lot of teams probably have that claim this year. Who is to say that only OSU, LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma are the Top 4? Kansas, VaTech, USC, WVU should probably be in the group if you're extending it 4 deep.... Hard to draw a definitive line at 4.

Generally, though, I agree with you that a playoff needs to be kept small. 4-8 teams is probably the way to go. I wouldn't mind 6 teams, with the #1 and #2 teams getting a bye, and the #3 and #4 teams getting a home game....

I have always maintained that the perfect scenario would be determining the number of teams in a playoff after the season was over. The year you had USC & Texas, you didn't need a playoff; you knew those were the best two teams. The year there were three undefeated teams, they should have gone, etc. The logisitics of such a thing will make it impossible, but it would be ideal. This year, probably 8 teams in the tournament. Most years, a lot fewer.

Sugar: Georgia vs. Hawaii
Fiesta: Kansas vs. Oklahoma

Got VaTech and Kansas backwards, other than that I was right on. Damnit. Leaves Oregon State out of the Holiday.

The Fiesta Bowl might be good, NCG might be too. I would expect USC, Georgia and VaTech to win big.

The Fiesta Bowl of Oklahoma v. West Virginia will be interesting for sure. It all depends on Pat White/Steve Slaton being healthy. If not, I sense a blowout.

The Orange Bowl with Virginia Tech is a given, but Kansas? I don't think they deserve it at all. :/ Mizz definitely deserves it more.

Sugar Bowl with Hawaii v. Georgia is gonna be great. Colt might have a great game, but I feel Hawaii's defense may not be able to stop Moreno and the rest of UGA's offense.

The NCG with LSU v. Ohio State is gonna be a good one I hope. I don't want another 41-14 laugher between SEC and Big 10 teams again, that's for sure. I can't wait personally.
