I'd say I could agree with you on that. Oklahoma would most likely have not lost to Texas Tech if they didn't lose their starter in the first quarter, but as it was.. they did. :/ I still like LSU though, but I think UGA is the best team in the nation right now.

The funny thing here is how much people who are actually involved with OU hate them heh. Mack Brown for example had probably overall the most reasonable list, and even placed his team pretty much exactly where everyone else did.

I don't believe for a second though that he honestly believes Ohio State or LSU is better than OU.

CU beat OU, we're obviously the best team in the country. Along those lines, OU would probably be in the NC game if our kicker had done his usual at the end of that game!

or if their qb didn't get himself knocked out in the first quarter of the tech game lol...

I love the fact that people say "oh, this team had 2 losses, but they were triple overtime!" and somehow could possibly convince themselves that's better than "this team had 2 losses, 1 without their quarterback."

I don't have much sympathy for OU though, despite the fact it sure looks like they're the best team out there atm I still hate em lol. The shitty part is I wouldn't be surprised if they won the next 2 after this year. They're an awfully young team to be that damn good.

If you are going to make that argument, then LSU WON the SEC championship without their starting QB. It was the first time the perriloux had started. Looking at this from a whole season perspective (because that's how people wanted the BCS formula to look at it, remember all the complaints about how teams that lost late pretty much lost their chance), then LSU played a tougher schedule, never got beat in regulation the entire season, and lost the same amount of games against tougher opponents by less total points.

The ways in which they lost are both pretty similar as I see it. Both teams losses were to unranked teams (although Kentucky is probably better than Colorado and Ark better than A&M), and OU a close loss without their starting QB when A&M came out with a completely different game plan and they came out fired up. But OU won their conference too, and this is the conference that once had 3 top 5 teams. Plus they beat #1 to win their conference while LSU beat #14. And I think the Big 12 was the best conference this year overall.

Definitely not buying the Big 12 as the best conference this year. I'd probably go Pac10. Kansas is a fucking fake. None-the-less, as I said, they played a tougher schedule, also played a game without their starting QB, and lost by less point in overtime to tougher teams. You can't fault LSU for having a good backup QB. You also can't fault them for playing sub par toward the end of the season. People bitched because losing late fucked good teams, so they changed the BCS formula to fix that, now people are complaining that the best teams at the end of the season aren't getting in. You can't have it both ways. And let's be realistic #1 vs #14 matchups aside...is Tennessee really much worse than Missouri? And LSU beat them with a banged up team, they did what they had to do. If were just judging national championship teams over the past few weeks, OSU or LSU wouldn't be where they are.

I assume you want to do like the top 32, for maths sake, teams which would be an additional 5 weeks tacked onto the extra week they added not too long ago. This would bring the college season to end at the beginning of February no?

top 16 4 rounds maybe remove a few of the non conference games that don't mean a lot, hell alot of teams arent playing for a few weeks as it is. OSU will have been off for 51 days before the championship game.

TECHNICALLY, it was the second time he started. I believe he started the Tennessee Tech game earlier in the year as well, right? I know, lolTTech, but it's still a game. I can't remember if it was Flynn that started or him. My memory is fuzzy D:

Anyway, my argument for LSU is if they didn't have that stupid "Once you get to 3OT, you HAVE to go for the 2PT Conversion" rule, then all of these arguments about them being undefeated in regulation wouldn't matter. Anyway, yeah. I think we can all agree that LSU had a tougher schedule.

Another schedule though that gets me is Auburn's. Imagine if they had won the USF/Miss. State games. They'd be 10-2 right now and in a bigger bowl game, could have beaten LSU and would've been 11-1. That's crazy shit. Their schedule on the road was just hard as hell. Next year they get home games, ftw. Just shows how awesomet his season was.

Also I agree. A round of 16 seems best really. Four weeks to cover it and then a few weeks off to hype of the National Championship game.

Did you not watch the KU-Mizzou game? KU was clearly the better team, it just wasn't their day.

I hope you're joking when you say the pac 10 was the best. Oregon was great but crap without dixon, and usc was probably a top 10 team. The big 12 had 3 teams in the top 5 that all beat up on each other... and still ended up with 3 in the top 10 and should have had 3 in bcs bowls if not for stupid rules. If anyone had an argument to be better than the big 12, it would be the SEC, and I don't believe they were.

And what has Ohio State done that Hawaii hasn't done? Beat a Michigan team that lost to Appalacian State at home?

Well I'd argue the SEC better than the Big 12 this year. It's hard to get three teams from the same conferance in the top 5 when they all play and beat the dogshit out of eachother. Mizz had a long time between their first OK loss and their second. Kansas only played one REAL team pretty much the whole year and lost that game since it wasn't their day. Oklahoma lost to CO.... >.> and the T.Tech loss, but they couldn't really prevent that. The way I like looking at strength of conferance is this. The SEC has the highest ranked 2 loss team, 3 loss team, and 4 loss team (with two in the Top 25 no less.)

The Big XII does have Texas, Oklahoma, Mizz, and Kansas in there, but jesus. Kansas's schedule was just horrible. How you go and avoid Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and all that in one year is beyond me. You can't schedule around the SEC, I think that's what is good about them. The Pac-10 was probably third best with Dixon out. Even with Dixon, I still think they're third best, but Oregon is nothing without him as we've seen. USC I agree is a top 10 team, Arizona State is okay, but can't really hang with the big boys like USC, Arizona played well down the stretch, Cal is LOL.. so yeah. They aren't nearly as good as everyone thought they were at the beginning of the year when California rolled Tennessee.

Tennessee is a really bipolar team. They dominated UGA 35-14, yet got dominated by a 6-6 Alabama. Florida's played consistant all year, even with their 3 losses. UGA has really picked up the pace, Kentucky played great for them, Arkansas got better down the stretch too. Even the bottom teams stepped up.. like Mississippi State. South Carolina had a huge collapse which was sad, and Alabama did too. That and they just can't fucking beat Auburn. Hopefully they can beat Colorado, lol. Anyway, what I'm saying is I think if you compared SEC v. Big XII top to bottom, the SEC would come out on top and no, it's not because I'm from the south. I pride myself for giving neutral opinions on different teams because I love statistics in sports and love sports in general. I'm not a rabid fanboy or anything.

I look at it this way.

I think Oklahoma is better than LSU.

I think KU is better than Georgia.

I think Mizzou is better than Florida.

And I think Texas is better than Tennesee.

Assuming all of the above is true would pretty much mean the Big 12 was better, but then we can't really say any of that for certain heh.

edit: I'm not actually that sure about KU v GA, but I think GA may be better than LSU anyway, but OU still better.

Thank you for the edit. While I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but Kansas has played nobody this year and hasn't really proved much. The fact that they got into a BCS bowl over Mizzou is a complete joke seeiing as Mizzou just proved a week ago that they are better. I think that Kansas and Ohio State are the most overrated teams this year. Play a god damn real man's schedule!

I would have loved to see Ohio State vs KU in the Fiesta Bowl and OU vs GA in championship.

Maybe LSU vs Hawaii in sugar bowl.

I think KU would beat OSU with their different offense. UGA over OU in the Championship, and LSU over Hawaii.

I personally think UGA > OU > LSU
    Florida>Mizzou
    Tennessee=Texas

Colt McCoy has taken a step back this year I'm afraid and without that beast of a HB, they wouldn't even have the amount of wins they have now. Ainge and Tennessee are confused if they are a good team or just an average team. They play differently every week, but Texas does too. That's why I think they are really about the same.

Florida over Mizzou because with the way Tebow carries that team, it's crazy. That and they have one of the fastest players in the country in Percy Harvin. Also, it seemed like Mizzou struggled with Oklahoma's deep ball, and Tebow knows how to throw it deep.

I think with the way UGA played down the stretch, they'd be just as hard to stop as USC would. Oklahoma is good and they have a ton of talent too, but I think UGA can really match it. They have a pair of decent WRs, two good HBs in Thomas Brown and Knowshon Moreno, and their QB Matthew Stafford plays pretty good for a Soph. I know TB is graduating after this year, but Moreno is only a Freshman. It's nuts. LSU is undefeate din regulation (lol) and their defense has struggled in the latter part of the year, but they have been hurt. With Dorsey playing at 70-75% tops, they aren't nearly as good as they can be, but I guess it's not an excuse because every team has injuries.

    Anyway, only my opinion.

Re: BG College Football Pick Em

Here are some random Pac-10 thoughts:
Overall it was a very disapointing season for the Pac-10. Outside of ASU and maybe Oregon St I'm not sure if any team is happy with their season. The big story for almost every team was injuries.
    USC
Their season changed on one play against the UW when they lost two offensive lineman on the same play. This was followed up by injuries at running back and then QB.
    Oregon
When Dixon went down Oregon went from a BSC team to a 4th tier bowl team. Even before that they had lost their top WR and back up tailback.
    UCLA
They were down to a back up WR at QB for a lot of the season. It ended up costing the coach his job.
    California
I'm trying to think of a team that has fallen as far as they did in recent history. They were undefeated and ranked 2nd when they lost their QB. After that they had crushing losses to both Oregon St and UCLA and they never recovered. I saw them play the UW later in the season and Cal had completely given up on the season. They were just a shadow of what they were.

How do I rate the Pac 10 nationally? I think they are probably the 3rd best conference behind the SEC and Big-10. ASU had a nice season but they took advantage of a joke non-conference schedule like Kansas and Ohio St. Right now Oregon St may be the 3rd best team in the league. Too bad they had some horrible losses early in the season.

Nationaly I think the only real good news is that the SEC is finally getting credit for having the toughest conference year in year out. I was sort of hoping that LSU wouldn't get into the final game though. Maybe that would cause a revolt in the SEC leadership forcing a real playoff system.

As for the BSC final, this is a year where they should just call it off and say that no one deserved to be in the final.
    OSU
I saw them play the U of Washington. They were behind at halftime to the worst team in the Pac 10.
    Kansas
They had a one game season and lost. Case closed.
    LSU
I know people nationally people are happy with these guys in the final. It is nice to see the SEC get credit for being a tough conference. But I just don't see them as being a great team. Losing at home to Arkansas and to Kentucky are major strikes against them.
    Georgia
I know not being in the SEC final is a major strike against them, but I think the fact that they have been a team that has traditionally underachieved also hurt them. That being said is there anyone that doesn't think they wouldn't stomp LSU right now?
    Oklahoma
This is another team that I think is a better team than LSU right now. Maybe in the end giving up all those points to Texas Tech hurt them in the end.
    USC
Right now this is the best team in the nation. They have the top defense in nation and their offense is finally healthy. They would be favored against any team right now. Problem is that loss to Stanford. That may be the biggest upset in Pac 10 history.

In the end, bring on a 16 team play off!
