I don't think you can improve on episode 26. It's solid perfection of Gar. So naturally 27 wasn't better.

I listened to all of the songs for a few seconds... none of them sounded quite like the music from the end of the Episode 1 GARlock scene.
Is it in one of the tracks and I just skipped over it, or is it not on here?

Yess, Track 14(background music for the intro of incredibly epic, season 1 finale)easily one of the best songs in the series.

favorite anime this season, claymore a close 2nd but total train wreck near the final eps.

Loving the OST so far and watching the series again a little <_<
I'm glad they ended it when they did, though. Hate when they drag series out and make them mediocre over time.

Hmmm after rewatching the first part again I'm kind of inclined to think it was one of the previous Spiral beings that was before Simon. I remember that when Simon was fighting Lord Genome, he said that there was one like him who had fought as hard previously. Plus there's nobody else there shown except Super Boota, maybe there was another Boota too?, then again it could be the alternate dimension thing.
