I just finished the series a month ago, and this parallel universe spin-off is actually a interesting way of milking some extra money out of it, without diminishing the epic ending. Viral's dream girl sets off the Furry hotness meter, though.

Someone bumped this thread so I think I'll watch the anime now. Thanks bumper for putting this in front of me it sounds good if it gets good by episode 8, every anime I've watched took like 50 episodes to get my interested (See Naruto and Bleach, pretty cookie cutter anime) except for School Rumble. How far behind am I, is there a manga I can be reading or just anime?

I don't believe there's a manga, and it ended at episode 28 a long while back. It's one of the few animes that knew to stop when it was at the top of it's game. Get to 8, then OMFGOMFGOMFG Gar your way through the other 20 that just get even more epic with every progression.

Like has been said, keep watching. Episode 8 it goes from mediocre 'well, that was gonna happen' to holy shiiiiiiiiiit .

Its still formulaic, but it does so with an excellent style and enough rhythm that the archetypes can be forgiven unless you just have your head that far up your own ass.
