    Re: Parses after the patch

I didn't parse my recent merit party I just had but I have a few observations...

I decided to test out 4 weapons on my drk; Algol, Tred Scythe, Subduer, and Martial Scythe with sam sub. I have 8/8 merits on both weapons and used basically the same gear for all weapons except homam body over hauby for algol and abyssal earring over assualt for the scythes. (note: no justice/prud. torque)

As far as DoT went, subduer was pretty much trash even with crits, which ranged from 90-140 with 170ish crits. I'd say Algol parsed better than Tred. DoT wise, but since I didn't log it I'm not 100% certain. As far as weapon skills go; Guillotine and Cross Reaper do much less dmg post-patch (which was expected), but what I didn't expect was how bad CR became. Rarely broke 900 dmg on mamools and about 1k on flys and avg'd about 500-800 (600-950 with martial), where SS constantly did 800-1.05k on both types of mobs and connected ~95% of the time. Guillotine's acc seeems to be toned down as well... avg's was about 7-1.1k and seemed to give full returns only about ~85% of the time.

I don't feel like typing out my gear out but it's pretty optimal, so I'd would say it safe to say, GS might be the better option now imo...

    Re: Parses after the patch

I'm not much for math, but I just merited with 2 other drks and a war using a polearm and it was pretty horrible. The brd was using acc songs (ew) and I was using meat while the other 2 drks were not using food at all. My gear is pretty decent I'd say, apart from no adaberk.

Here's the thing. the polearm war was hitting 1600 pentas all over the place, and I could not beat 1300 guillotine no matter what. - I always checked that I got full TP return. The other 2 drks who were in jet seraweels and plastrons (you're regular wtfdrk) Were hitting 1100-1200 all the time too. So is there some sort of cap on WS cause it's frustrating as hell to hit 900+ attack and connect full hits for crap damage. cross reaper never went over 1k even with 300%

    le sigh.

    Piercing Weak mobs.

I still don't get the Polearm War thing, but hey, whatever's clever right?

Maybe with Merits, Barone jump gear, /Drg, Wyvern Earring, full Haste, whatnot...

I just still don't get it, it's not like Great Axe exactly sucks or anything.

it's more these two gimp drks that can pretty much keep up with me that's confusing. Guess it's time to sell the gear and buy some seraweels :3.

    j/k ew.

Plus this brd makes me cry.

care to elaborate on the polearm war?
i've been kind of curious about trying that at the bird camp since the update.
    was he using a Gondo-Shizunori?

25% dmg bonus? penta > accuracy varies with tp? with 20% double attack that iirc can proc on any swing of penta that's almost a guaranteed 6 hit penta?
As an example, that 1600 penta W/O 25% bonus and being only 5 hits would do ~1k

I checked him but I totally forgot wtf it was, blue one with TP bonus or something on it, so you probably know better than me ^^;.

He was doing pretty well but I think he and I basically shared the majority of the hate although his ws were higher on average. He had adaberk/haidate (Basically better gear than me by a decent margin, I don't have homam pants and TP'd in homam body) we were both /sam too. Pretty good for a low ranked weapon but there is still the piercing bonus. I think he'd have done better with G.axe.

I wish I'd known he was going to use it seriously because I might have tested my drg or horribly gimp ridill war against his polearm.

On Birds? Using Mithkabobs my average Guillotine yesterday was 1.2k-1.3k, never did less than 1k. Cross Reaper at 100 TP never did less than 1k, average was about 1.1k-1.2k, and topped out at 1.5k, all on /WAR. So far I don't see a massive difference in the damage, it was enough to match a BB MNK/WAR with 22% Haste.

Then again I haven't EXPed on the higher end stuff like Trolls or used Red Curry since the update.

Martial Lance is DRG-only so it couldn't be TP bonus. If the pointy part was blue it was probably an Ox Tongue (i.e. generic lv.70-73 adaman weapon). DMG 70 Delay 396 Dex+2 are the relevant stats (71/385/3 for HQ)

    SAM/NIN
    WAR/NIN w/ great axe
    RDM/WHM
    WHM/BLM
    PLD/WAR

For the first 2 hours I though I was getting owned by the SAM and WAR. I was seeing constant 2K Gekko and 2K Steel Cyclone.
At some point our RDM got killed by an add and I used that opportunity to download the new DVSparse. I was afraid to load it up because I didn't want to know how badly I was losing.

We killed 47 more mobs before disbanding so it was a small parse, but with suprising results. (BTW, how do I get the parse results to export as a jpg?)

    Me 37%
    SAM 28%
    WAR 27%
    PLD 8%

I don't know if they were supposed to be elite in their jobs or not, but I outdamaged them in both melee and ws damage.

It makes me feel a little better about the patch. Those 2K+ WS look impressive, but they just don't add up. I wouldn't mind losing to a super SAM, but it is good to know that I can still beat an average one, even when it is on mobs that aren't weak to daggers.
You're not gonna get 2k steel cyclones without 200/300 tp(200 with martial), so the war lost a lot of potential damage if that's all he was doing.
I wasn't watching his TP very close, but I did see him close to 200 several times.

Something I forgot to mention though is each time he managed to get one that high, he pulled hate and died.

Prolly meant the Store TP +1 from Engetsu. DMG 85 Delay 480 Acc +2 Store TP+1.

Prolly best PLM for non DRGs.

    Re: Parses after the patch

I wanna know why some ppl are complaining about 2handers with pimp gear out DDing ridills, what out there says ridill MUST be the best weapon? what is their to say 2handers can't be the best? just because it used to be that way?

Or am I missing a very large point?

People were complaining that shitty geared 2her were beating/keeping up with the best of the best non 2hers. Now it seems there is some balance.

Gondo-Shizunori (the 6% crit one) is definitely the best war equipable polearm. Leviathan's couse is probably runner up, but that basically doesn't exist.

    GL getting the couse, lol..

Forgot Gondo had 85 DMg also, was thinking of Tonboro's shitty DMG.
