    Re: Parses after the patch

Yeah the DRK was /SAM. I'm actually not too certain of his gear off of my head, but I think it was something like this:

    Main: Perdu
    Sub: Pole Strap
    Ammo: Fire Bomblet
    Head: Ace's Helm
    Neck: Peacock
    Ear1: Brutal
    Ear2: Assault
    Body: Ares
    Hands: Dusk+1
    Ring1: Sniper+1
    Ring2: Rajas
    Back: Abyss Cape
    Waist: Speed Belt
    Legs: Homam
    Feet: Homam

EDIT: Yeah, just checked to make sure. That's the TP gear, and like I said just about fully equipped.

EDIT2: I actually was just about to post this in the 'post your gear thread'! Since I messed around with it a little... But this is my gear now:
    http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/2039/ffxi2899hp4.jpg

It's all ugly as hell but, I gave up on trying not to look like a freak after dusk feet and ace's helm. All in all the only thing I really changed was subbing in more STR/Att in place of accuracy. I did it to the point where I'm at the same accuracy as I was before all these patches with Madrigal on, which basically put me at the acc cap anywhere minus HNMs.

My base attack is nuts though, that picture was taken with just curry+hasso on.

I like Dusk Feet model if there are pants to prevent the top from showing.

Just hate Double Dusk movement, like trudging through 2 foot deep mud.

Was wondering about how the superbuffed 2h DDx2 would work now.

Killed fast enough for chains, without sitting there going "where'd all da mobs go?".

Had Nin, Drg, War, Brd, Brd, Whm at Nyzul Bottom camp, every so often we'd all get TP/Meditate/whatnot up at once, and go through two mobs in a matter of seconds, and then sit there while the two bards looked around and we started wondering how bad Wivre's really are. (go go attack down spammers... bastards)

So yeah, that PT setup was broken beyond belief. I remember people were theorizing about it's potential before, but never remember seeing someone try it. Has anyone else given it a shot?
I've tried BRD COR RDM DRK WAR. The xp/hr and the party itself was pretti intense. I dont have the outside healing capabilities that you do, so I don't know if I could pull off BRD BRD COR RDM DRK Melee /w full-time Hasso. (Although I do have the advantage of self-healing from Catastrophe.) What I wonder is if the 2nd BRD is needed? I remember being around 750-820ish attack. Besides for the obvious March x2, what were the other 2 songs, and would they realli outweigh a 3rd strong DD?

Like you, I have a 2H relic that comes stock with +20 Acc, A+ native skill, and +16 in merits. Acc has become a non existant issue. Ares Cuirass has became more valuable to me than my E Body. I'm still working on my setup trying to figure out an optimal combination (and debating dusk vs homam, if not purely for the annoying trudge between xp mobs.)

I don't know much about SAM/Store TP builds, but have you tried Arrabbiato for xping... I'm addicted to the stuff, Attack/HP/STR/Store TP and 30min stackable. I love these over Red Curry.

The primary need of the second BRD is actually more to help with pulling than their songs, while the songs do make a considerable difference in themselves as well. I was in a BRD, COR, WAR, WAR, SAM, RDM PT before and it was at about 24k/h, with the most limiting factor being the rate at which we could pull mobs and keep them ready at camp. We'd often run out or lose claim or have to wait for the puller to return with the next mobs, etc. A second BRD really helps to prevent that from happening at all.

I've tried it and love it, but almost never found on AH or anywhere. I'd definitely take it over Red Curry any day though. Just that I never see it.

Our COR did most of the pulling, but I guess I can see that being the limiting factor going all out.. Definetly something worth playing around with sometime.

Any particular reason to use Brynie+1 instead of Haub+1?

Considering I'm just about capped on accuracy either way, Byrnie+1 offers 12 attack over a Haub+1. Only real trade off is 1 STR and 9 DEX since the accuracy doesn't matter. 1STR is nice (although I think I hit the fSTR cap for my weapon as is?), but 9 DEX doesn't really matter since my crit-rate blows as is.

    Re: Parses after the patch

I know before the most recent patch that re-randomized damages, I went out and tested my fSTR with minuets. Too Weaks in Crawler's Nest were sligthly under my fSTR cap in regular TP gear. I'm fairly certian in practicality it's impossible to hit fSTR on the higher DMG GKT/PLM/Scythes in xp. Adding more STR is always going to be better.

If I recall, the formula for figuring out how much STR over enemies VIT was: (14 + WRank x2) x2

Amanomurakumo is DMG: 88... so WRank = 9
    (14 + 9 x 2 ) x 2 = 64
Apoc is DMG: 103... so WRank = 11
    (14 + 11 x 2) x 2 = 72

I believe the average XP mob is going to have around 90ish VIT. So you'd need to TP in about 150 STR for Relic GKT to hit fSTR cap.

I think you do, 1 str might help with the weaponskill. maybe, depends on where you are in total exactly.

do you have an askar korazin? I've been curious how it compares to haub+1/byrnie+1 for sam.

@kirschy: iirc from naga's tests, the max VIT on an exp mob was aura weapons at 88.

level 81 greater colibri are stupid low (like 67? or so) for instance. mamool are in the 70's somewhere.

    Re: Parses after the patch

Anyone tried polearm on greater colibri with sam yet? I was just meriting today and i tried out love halberd on colibri and I notice I did like 2% worse on parser. (Still 276 gkt skill and 212 polearm) it went up to 218 after the party hahaha

    Re: Parses after the patch

Well, before the patch was changed I was definitely hitting the cap for fSTR. My regular melee attacks and critical hits would all do 315 almost 100% of the time with higher values of attack. I suppose the last patch probably changed that (as far as whether I was still capped), although melee'ing in about 130 STR should bring me rather close. In any case I'm doubtful that the trade off of 1 STR would be worth it over 12 attack. But I'm still testing Byrnie out anyway, I only had one chance to run it through in a merit PT thus far.

I don't have Askar body but I do hope to get it sometime, if for nothing else then just to test out a 29% DA build for SAM. With accuracy no longer being a major factor consider in building a gear set it makes me wonder how viable it could be now.

    Re: Parses after the patch

So from your experience, would this be considered the ideal WAR/SAM build?

Rune Chopper (9% haste w/ refresh, around 5% w/ sanction refresh)
    Pole Strap (2% DA)
    Bomb Core
    Walahra Turban (5% haste)
    Chiv Chain (+1 store TP)
    Brutal Earring (+1 store TP)
    Assault Earring
    Haubergeon
    Dusk Gloves (3% haste)
Flame + Rajas (+5 store TP)
    Amemet +1
    Swift Belt (4% haste)
    Byakko's Haidate (5% haste)
    AF (1% DA)

5/5 Zerk/DA, barring upgrades like Foragers, Speed, and +1s.

That's capped haste with refresh, can probably take the dusk gloves out for AF2, or close to cap with sanction refresh and dusk gloves on. 18% base DA, or 20% with Askar Korazin (though the extra +5 store TP isn't useful). 6-hit build (/SAM +7 store TP will do it) with the typical 504 delay on g.axe. Looks pretty good to me, and within my grasp.

Anything else I forgot? Or is it better to go for a max +crit approach with Rampager, claymore grip, and varying amounts of DEX to reach a crit cap on enemies (23-24% I believe) while maintaining still noticeable haste, probably not a 6-hit build though? From the link on the previous page, looks like 105-109 DEX will give around 14% crit for all sorts of mobs, +9% from rampager + claymore = cap?

    Re: Parses after the patch

105~108 Dex, 3 Crit Merits, Rampager/Claymore, Mad/Min, I pump out 900-1050 WSes often enough for it to be ridiculous, going up more often than not.

No crits disappeared basically, I can remember two no crit RR's out of my last about 40k Meripo.

Only War has the Crit based WS though to really fully benefit from it, plus our 6% Crit weapon doesn't suck compared to the other choices, 1 less damage than Choppah, Mbhuj, 7 than Byakko's, 9 than Perdu.

This is with Hauberk/Dusk Gloves/Dusk Feet/Swift Belt, Chiv/Rajas/Brutal for 6 Hit build, then once I get Haidate, my crit rate and Accuracy will both go up, so yeah, I'm sold on it at least for Meripo.

image blocked at work, but thanks for the info (I assumed the question about his ws set, not that he posted both sets) I knew he owned an osode, but I wasn't sure if he was or wasn't wearing it for that.

    Re: Parses after the patch

If you do have the luxury of outside healing which I am seeing more and more of today. Try this setup

    COR
    COR
    BRD/NIN
    WAR
    DRK
    THF
or swap in SAM for DRK or THF
CORs rolling WAR + COR and DRK + THF or SAM.
    BRD singing MIN + MAD

Your tp gain is insane with the SAM roll 30+tp return from Raging Rush. SAM ws will DA about 40% of time going over 2k with a well equipped SAM. I was hitting Guilitoine for more than 2.4k with this setup, no food on colibri @ 100TP

We were clearing the entire bottom colibri camp including Wivre's.(even with attack down aoe we were able to hold chain) COR were doing Slug's over 2k.

WAR was first voking. Outside RDM had refresh body + sanction refresh and was easily able to keep up with haste and cures.

Dont run expwatch but was over 30k/hr and was a very very fun party.

The most broke part imo is the COR rolls.
