I ROFL'd!
I ROFL'd!
Zied....Zied isn't like that!
You can't...
No...
As long as I hurt someone's inner child, I feel that my job is complete.
Well I'm sure you'll get an overtime bonus for that one...
So the passage that Septimus wrote is sorta what I was getting at earlier. I think it would be nice to see a sample of your writing style to get an idea of what this would look like. You can outline the plot or idea behind the work all you like, but execution is key.
From your posts, though, it sounds to me like you've already put a helluva lot of time and thought into it, and for that reason alone, just roll with it and write it. Even if it doesn't become Meme of the Year 2007, it still gives you good practice writing to an audience, and knowing BG, you'll get instant (constructive?) criticism and reviews if you plan to write more.
Will it have explosions, violence, betrayals, conspiracies, blood, and gratuitous (straight, non-galka) sex?
@Daahan
I'll read it, sure.

The volcanic environment necessitated them to remove their armor, first shirts, then headgear, gloves and boots, and then pants leaving them in nothing.
Septimus watched silently for several minutes until Gurfulur finally pinned Megomak to the ground. While Megomak was pinned, he looked over and saw their visitors and gasped in surprise. The two beastmen tried to quickly right themselves.
"Mind us, you must not," the fighter head of Gulool Ja Ja coyly said, "Merely admiring the view, we were."
Both of the beastmen blushed. Gurfurlur ran his beefy fingers through his beard and asked "(What brings lizards such as you up here?)" (EDIT: He should say "down here," but he's a stupid Troll so we'll let it go.)
"Heard you two were sparring up here, we did," the mage head responding smirking. They pulled out several flasks of Olive Oil and grinned, "Make this interesting, we must."

If it was written like a novel, not a fanfic, and good, sure.
I think one would have to do it at an angle of "This is story set in Vana'diel", not "This is a story set in FFXI". Personally, a little bit amount of ignorance on actual details of Vana'diel(like the stuff we see Elmer giving us in yummy translations) would be enough to turn me off.

These are my thoughts, too. Basically, for me, it's:Originally Posted by BRP

This is basically what I would enjoy reading, not what I think people should or shouldn't make. Also, I voted yes because I will probably give it a try, but it depends on Daahan whether or not I'll get into to it.
Same here. Vana'diel is a rich world with a rich story, imo, could be deeply explored through fan stories even for things that apparently dont have any story behind it at all (like some HNMs and its treasures).Originally Posted by Tomiko
Voted no, fanfic is pretty bad literature.
Hate fanfic
Yes, but only because it's written by you Daahan!Originally Posted by Daahan

It will not be like this, and there will be minimal appearances from current FFXI NPCs and Mission Heroes.Originally Posted by Francisco II
It's going to be something new, fresh, and different. Not your traditional fanfic, I guarantee it.
