In the manga Rem says something like "you might not be able to tell, but I'm actually a female". I saw no boobs.

Rems a death god (Reaper), they don't have to have female parts to say they are a female, just believe!

Ryuk (????, Ry?ku?)
The original Shinigami who dropped the Death Note in the human world, which Light would pick up. Acting out of pure boredom, Ryuk begins the story of Death Note on a whim. It is stated that Ryuk found the second Death Note in the Shinigami world. Ryuk is not Light's ally, and in fact declares in their first meeting that some day he (Ryuk) would write Light's name into his own Death Note, killing him. Ryuk often refuses to aid Light and instead enjoys watching him struggle for his goal. He acts for his own interests and entertainment, and often fails to tell Light key details about the Death Note. However, Ryuk will aid Light if it serves his own goals, such as providing amusement or obtaining apples, without which he suffers a form of withdrawal symptoms.

I personally prefer the manga to the movies but I am a huge fan either way. I have seen the movies as well as read the entire series but like everyone here has basically said there are differences in each of the versions.

Misa was a dumb bitch that couldn't cover her own tracks. She was too fanatical to do anything efficiently.

Mikami is pretty much the polar opposite of Misa. He's fanatical, but he's smart at least, and thats why people like him.

I had to stop reading the manga/anime 3 times before I finally read/watched it all. First two times was the manga (stopped at the yotsuba stuff then when (fill in name here) died) and then stopped again later when I saw what an ass Light was to Misa. That show starts off so good then just made me angry.

My friends and I were discussing it back when the manga was being serialized. To paraphrase what someone said: Light doesn't care about getting laid because he's always been able to get any girl he wants. Also, Light is an ass to pretty much everyone.
