    Re: Cactrot Rapido

Easy way to test it. Get a SMN and a BST. Use Predator Claws on a DC-EM mob (so it can survive it) then have the BST immediately charm it and use the <pettp> command. If you timed it right and the mob didn't get to hit anybody/didn't get hit by the Avatar, then the mob should have either 0TP, or 30TP.

I've always been told that BPs give TP equal to X * 10, where X is the number of hits of said BP. I think the reason you didn't see Cactrot use any TP moves is that most mobs whose HP is >25% hold TP till 300TP (or maybe it was random), and then when they get to <25%, they use their moves at 100TP instead, and so it would take 10 Predator Claws for it to reach 300TP, and it may very well be dead by then depending on what other damage is being put on it.

The other, and more likely possibility is that it used one of it's more useless TP moves and you just happened to miss it, whether due to log box spamming, gear changing, or filters.

    Re: Cactrot Rapido

I'm fairly certain I didn't miss the text, as it wasn't just one instance, I've done the fight several times, and my two partners noticed the same thing. (Along with being a WHM 75 as well, so my filters are set especially so that I see TP moves and the like.) Though, I am sure that I did more than 10 BPs, in which case it would have 300 TP (using X*10) before the fight was over. Cactrot has around 10,000 HP; in order for me to kill it before it reached 300% TP I would have to do at least a steady 1k Predator Claws each time, which didn't happen. Regardless, I'll have a BST friend help me out with that and see how it goes.

EDIT: I just confirmed it along with a BST friend (thanks for the help, Rowe). Predator Claws doesn't give a mob TP. I walked up to a Lesser Colibri with Garuda, and used Predator Claws (without assaulting). Because I executed a command, it attacked me immediately upon tapping my Rage macro and hit me one time before PC went off and Rowe charmed. When he got it, it had 5% TP. He released it (which resets a previously charmed mob's TP to 0% -- tested also, although this is common knowledge to BSTs I'm sure), and I gave the Blood Pact: Rage command again, but this time released my avatar before the BP went through (so that I would get attacked again, but no damage would be dealt to the bird). The colibri attacked me and hit me once. Rowe charmed it. 5% TP again (from the one hit, as before). So, whether I did damage to it or not, it only got TP equivalent to the one attack it performed on me, with no bonus from Garuda's BP.

And, to be more focused on the original post... There isn't a precise path that it follows, in my experience. We would stand in the same position as the previous day and occasionally we'd see it run by fairly close to the last linking position, but never exactly in the same place. One day we stood around for quite a long time and saw it run by us in a few slightly altered paths from where it had linked to us the day before, and eventually it just stopped running past that position altogether. We had to run around to link him. As for the drop rate, dismal. We never saw the bow once.

Apparently not so widely known if I claim it to be true and more than one reasonable player disagrees. Or were you referring to the OP? The same thing applies, I suppose. Either way, if it were easily accessed information, there wouldn't be any question about it.

Everywhere I looked gave generic "Spawns 24-21hrs" or "24-72hrs" "Depops in fire wheather" etc.

It does not depop in Fire Weather, but it does repop every 24-72 hours or so (ish). Same window as like Cerberus and the others I believe.

    errr.....
unless they changed this behaviour in the last week or so, that's incorrect.
i've Leave'd many a mob that had over 100tp in order to recharm it (because it was getting close to the time where it would uncharm by itself), charm again, fail, and get immediately hit by a TP move.
what actually likely happened is that after Leave the healing cycle kicked in right away (each cycle is about 15 seconds) and the mob lost 10% tp and gained 10% hp.

When you release a bst pet it does NOT lose tp. That is why i'm always wary when i release and try to charm something that has a potentially deadly tp attack.

    Re: Cactrot Rapido

I have eaten way to many TP moves on a missed recharm to verify they don't reset to 0.. they might slowly decline, but not reset.. after the MPK patch, it was a fun way to kill some idiot puller who wanted to gank your pets.

I just saw this in Eastern Altepa...I didn't even know Rapido could spawn there. He popped up out of the sand, and booked it the other way while I was soloing at the outpost on my Sam.

Ahh, I'm way too reliant on Brandson's maps for NM locations (Rapido isn't listed, guess because the spawn area is the whole zone).

    Or perhaps I'm just blind!

    To necro bump this --

Does anyone know when respawn is? For sure? BG Wiki no info, Banned Wiki says 24-36. Friend seems to think 3 days after death on dot.

But anyone else have experience with it to know for sure?

Is it doable by NIN/drk and RDM/nin? Just try not getting hit and use dot?

NIN /WAR/RDM/DRK-whatever and RDM/NIN, just holding it with the NIN utilizing an evasion build and the RDM keeping Poison II up, is a pretty simple duo.

Evasion setup instead of Haste setup, I mean, for Utsusemi recast?

    Re: Cactrot Rapido

No reason not to use full evasion gear, and then just macro Haste for the use of Utsesumi.

I'm usually abusing how stupidly powerful Bat Earrings + Blind Potions are for this fight (along with an Auster's Staff). Enmity is also important to keep in mind, but shouldn't be too much of a problem. Especially if you're NIN/DRK.
