DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

Do you try to make a 6 hit TP setup when you use Samurai subjob?

Do you find it worth it?

I've put together a few options for making it possible. Of course the option with the Valkyrie's Fork will be the hardest to obtain. However, there are several other options, which don't even require any additional Store TP gear and start at Lv60. The Rajas Ring and Gae Bolg will be hard for a player taking their first job to Lv75, and I think Carbonara food is impractical against Colibri.

Note: The 6 hits could include the first hit of the weaponskill if it hits, so you could weaponskill and then get to weaponskill again in 5 hits.

Option 1 (Store TP+15, 100TP in 6 Hits, Requires 0 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Schwarz Lance
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15

Option 2 (Store TP+15, 100TP in 6 Hits, Requires 0 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Gae Bolg
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15

Option 3 (Store TP+25, 99TP in 6 Hits, Requires 1 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Tournament Lance: Store TP+3
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15

Option 4 (Store TP+25, 99TP in 6 Hits, Requires 1 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Tournament Lance: Store TP+3
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Option 5 (Store TP+22, 97TP in 6 Hits, Requires 3 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Mezraq
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5

Option 6 (Store TP+24, 98TP in 6 Hits, Requires 2 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Mezraq
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Option 7 (Store TP+26, 100TP in 6 Hits, Requires 0 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Mezraq
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Option 8 (Store TP+24, 99TP in 6 Hits, Requires 1 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Valkyrie's Fork: Store TP+3
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15

Option 9 (Store TP+26, 100TP in 6 Hits, Requires 0 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
Dark Mezraq or Grand Knight's Lance
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

For the gear I use, I don't think it's worth it.

Reasons why I wouldn't use it:

    1. Love Torque > Chiv Chain.
    2. I'd rather eat Meat than Carbonara.
    3. Mezraq & Valk Fork are the only lances listed I'd use at 75.

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

You're better off subbing war. 6 hit build works with SAM because they retain a moderately decent double attack rate as well as a consistent WS, as they have the ability to... sub war.

There's very little reason to sub sam as a drg, unless you want to mitigate damage dealt to you. The extra 10% from double attack and 25% damage boost from zerk kinda stomps on the boost from Hasso.

Edit: But to get back on track: Gear for attack and haste, no matter what sub you're using (in regards to DDing)

    Edit2: Weapon: Mez/Orich/Valk
Neck: Love Torque or PCC; only substitute for a chiv chain if you can't afford the PCC.
    Food: Dragon stuffs/hedgehog pie/roast pipira/bison steak

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

Based on the stats and cost I'd rather use the listed alternatives since they offer more in the areas I'm looking for (Str and Atk). Carbonara still has it's uses (the hp is nice for soloing), but it's just not what I prefer to use I guess.

Carbonara - Base amount for comparison. (4 Str and Atk cap of 65)

    Sis Kebabi - +2 Str & +5 Atk
    Bison Steak - +2 Str & +15 Atk
    Hedgehog Pie - +2 Str & +15 Atk
    Yellow Curry - +1 Str & +10 Atk
    Red Curry - +3 Str & +85 Atk

Edit: Removed food stats. Wasn't worth making the post long.

    Edit2: Back on topic:

I think Akanei hit on all the main points of why a 6-hit build is basically Sam exclusive.

You forgot to factore in jump tp as well. The tp bonus on barone peices would have to be thought of too.

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

Thanks for the information on Askar Korazin. Last night I came up with a few more options that do not even require Samurai subjob. I could see Carbonara being used on birds and greater birds in Caedarva Mire, Bibiki Bay, Ru'Aun Gardens, Valley of Sorrows, and Lufaise Meadows along with other non-Colibri enemies.

Option 10 (Store TP+12, 96TP in 6 Hits, Requires 4 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Schwarz Lance
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Option 11 (Store TP+13, 97TP in 6 Hits, Requires 3 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Gae Bolg
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

Option 12 (Store TP+21, 96TP in 6 Hits, Requires 4 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
Valkyrie's Fork: Store TP+3 or Tournament Lance: Store TP+3
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Askar Korazin: Store TP+5
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

I know some of these are getting rediculous, but interestingly enough a 5 Hit setup is possible for Dragoon/Samurai.

Option 13 (Store TP+33, 97TP in 5 Hits, Requires 3 Additional Hits from Weaponskill)
    Gae Bolg
    Chivalrous Chain: Store TP+1
    Brutal Earring: Store TP+1
    Rajas Ring: Store TP+5
    Askar Korazin: Store TP+5
    Samurai Subjob: Store TP+15
    Carbonara Food: Store TP+6

I was mostly thinking that lots of DRGs will be subbing SAM now for some damage mitigation. I'll probably take DRG as my second job to Lv75 because I love how Drachen Armet, Ethereal Earring, Wyrm Armet, and Healing Wyvern open up many solo possibilities. I'm already taking it to Lv37 for Haste build with SAM/DRG.

god, throw that in place of your haub+1 on a sam and you can trade: 18 accuracy, 6 dex, 1 str and 1 attack for your feet slot (haste +3% / acc+6 att+7 / etc etc) and maintain your six hit setup.

if you're only wearing an NQ haub, you trade 18 accuracy and 6 dex for your foot slot + 2 attack.

Gae Bolg and Schwarz lance @ 75 are big no-nos and will immediately put you in the gimp line.

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

Anyway, option 12 is probably the closest to okay.

But you don't need carbonara and a chiv chain if you could get gear like the korazin and valk fork. <_<

    >_>

I wouldn't be using those two pieces with the intent of a 6 hit build; I'd be gunning for a double attack build. Throw on a pole strap and ares flanchard and that's 24% double attack rate on /war. The additional TP along side of it is just icing on the cake.

Only lacking slot is the hands atm but I'd rather have the money than the 1% haste.

Don't really mean to quote myself, but I just ran the math through my head and I'm wondering how you got 96% out of only Store TP+21. A 492 naturally gets 13.3~4? TP a swing, so you're only getting up to 93% in 6 hits.

Edit: Either way, reinforcing what I said.

Re: DRG 6 Hit TP Setups Worth It?

Just to add, War/Sam can get 6 hits/100 with +7 Store TP and a 504 Great axe (basically all of them), with full Double Attack, Zerk, and Hasso...so it isn't just worth it for Sam's.

Drk/Sam as well, I imagine with stuff like Chiv, Askar, 528 Scythe, /Sam, should be in 5 hit range.
