Is there any way at all for one to increase the chance of getting a skillup on a synth? Also, is there a level gap between synth level and crafter's skill that is ideal for receiving skillups on that synth?

lots of theories out there about crafting compasses, days, moons, wearing metal armor, elemental staves, scratching your nose and crossing your eyes while you synth, etc. you can do your own original research on them if you like, there's too much to post here and so much of it is mere superstition. as for an ideal lvling range, it depends on what's cheapest. one good factor to remember is that you must be naturally 5 or less from the cap (thanks for correcting my idiot ass on that a bit ago aurik. ^^) to skill up on breaks. if, however, there's something super cheap over 5 from the cap, go for it, just expect to break a lot. synthesis support can also be handy in reducing breaks when you're over 5 from the cap, thus increasing skillup probability.

You have to tap your head and rub your stomach while synthing ONLY on new moon Lightsday 100%, there my friend you will get to 100 in literal seconds.

If you wear your glory crown while crafting 9 levels above your current level, you will get .3 - .4 skill ups on every synth and never break anything.

I did a few searches, and most of what I saw was either hocus-pocus or various anecdotes about skillup streaks/skillup droughts, so I figured I could get an answer like "no, there's no way to improve skillups, everything is BS" or possibly "there's this one way that isn't voodoo..." from a reliable source much more easily by asking straight out.

I got my answer, so thanks, as far as I'm concerned it was worth the head tapping and stomach rubbing
