    Re: Trio Assault Tier6-10

Once you get the first hint, the "there is something nearby" message and the "X person is the closest to the ring" are completely unrelated. The first message talk exclusively about the closest hint and has nothing to do with the ring (you can find more "???" and get additional hints, but they are useless). The 2nd message is the only one you should use to discover the rings.

To make the ring pop, the npc has to stand right on top of it, and the "???" will pop. 1 inch to the left or right and the "???" will despawn. It's pretty easy to find the area where it pop, but making it appears generally takes 3-4 min. You don't have to talk to the npc to make it appears afaik, just need her to walk on the correct spot.

We did it with NIN, BST, and RDM, but it did kind of suck, and I think we went 1/3 on it. Then again, the first time we didn't do the "position before activating imps" thing, which helps a lot (we were doing it when they first came out).

Yeah im not saying it cant be triod. Just that its hard and yeah you're 1/3 success is enough right there to not waste 3 tags trying to trio it, Really need 4-5.

    Re: Trio Assault Tier6-10

Ok so up to 44/50.. Having trouble a with couple and just havent got around to the rest.

    Remaining:

Tier6 Lebros Apkallu Breeding: Gonna use the morse code guide when i get around to this. Have to match just 1 pair for win?

Tier6 Leujaom Supplies Recovery: Failed atleast 5 times, alot of times very close. Think I understand where all the imps pop now atleast.

Tier8 Mamool Marids In The Mist: Havent attempted yet, 8 marids or so need to be killed/tranquilized? Any suggestions for this 1 for a small party? Like who if anyone should be trying to tranq or just kill em?

Tier8 Ilrusi Deserter: 0/1. Attempted with blm, blu/thf blu/nin. Probably seen atleast 100 criticals hit, killed 9 or so NMs, and no weapons broke..

Tier9 Ilrusi Desperately Seeking Cephalopods: Fishing NM.. Attempted with 4 once (blm x3, rdm), I believe we located the npc that you need to be beside, fished up alot of pugil and sea monks, no NM and no clues from npc, is a standard melee pt needed for this one just to kill all the mobs or did we get unlucky? Suggestions for this 1?

Tier10 Lebros Better Than One: Cerebrus, Read strats for this but havent got 6 together to attempt it yet.

Any input on the remaining be appreciated, getting reallly close to captain here

Apkallu; Extremely Easy, just follow the Wiki info, find a male and take it to the female. Females never move far from where it shows on map. /thf and movement+ help but not required. Group of 3 can easily match all penguins, just don't run too far ahead of them when leading them.

Marids; Again, very easy. Won with WAR x2, RDM. We pulled 2 MArids at a time to the NPC. RDM slept one and we Killed one, saving WSs for Chigoe, while the RDM spammed darts on them after 75%. Need to be kinda quick as the last couple Marids are long pulls but we won on first try easily. If you just want to win and don't care about points you can just go kill all 8 Marids and win.

Lamia; Not sure what you did wrong, only need to disarm one for the win, was very easy for my group. Bring jobs that crit alot, MNK, WAR, etc. Don't try to kill them, just TP on them until you break the weapon. Can use Crit WSs if you need, like Rampage or Backhand Blow. If your BLUs leveled Club then have them use True Strike, I used that to break Qutrub, Lamia and other mobs' weapons as I learned my Magics. (BLUs should know how to break weapons..)

    Re: Trio Assault Tier6-10

i tried to trio RvB with RDM, NIN, DRK. i kited the blus as RDM, DRK popped them, and NIN took the general. we died and it said mission failed so im guessing the hume npc was killed.

im thinking of trying this again and going as blm instead of rdm. the strat above says you can grav/nuke him but this doesnt seem to be verified in the wiki. can i get some input on this. first, does grav/bind work on the general? second, how many nukes does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a serpent general?

We tried this one with 4, but ran out of time because the last clue was shitty. The NPC told us there was a good spot "to [his] left", which was incredibly vague, and we never managed to fish up the NM.

I (BRD/WHM) sat at one NPC and fished up mobs, which a DRG/BLU and NIN/WAR killed. The RDM ran around, found all the NPCs, and talked to them as we killed mobs to determine which one had the "Hey life is good" message (happened after about 4-5 mobs). We then fished at that NPC until he gave us the final clue, which unfortunately turned out to suck. But that's the basic idea. Krakens are a bit rough (but doable) with NIN, DRG, and BRD, especially if the NIN has R0 half the time >.> I think I'd do this with 4 just to have the extra person to run around and check NPCs while still allowing 3 people for faster mob killing (and safer kraken killing). I wish I could tell you how hard the Orobon is; maybe after today.

The orobon has about 20k hp, wasn't hard but took a bit of time with nin thf whm. There are some status effects you'll need to remove quickly, but if you got to T9 that shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure about the answers to your questions, but the strategy we used was pretty much exactly what was mentioned on wiki and whatnot back when we did it...and I don't see why it wouldn't work for your setup:

RDM/NIN (w.legs helps tremendously, any SJ will do), MNK/NIN, BLU/NIN. No 2hr's used.

I was the RDM. I stayed at the NPC, the MNK and BLU went off to where the NM was said to spawn (dropped off the ledge on that area of the map, but stayed out of range of it popping).

I buffed up, popped Powder Boots, clicked the NPC, and ran like hell to the boss spawn area. I aggro'd a group of the other team omw to the spawn as well, bringing them with me but not caring about them cause of Flee effect. My powder boots basically wear off right when I get to the boss. The MNK and BLU are buffing up right as I am approaching the boss area.

Once I see the boss, I targeted one of the other NPCs surrounding him and casted Diaga and ran to the east side exit of the room. All of the BLUs start casting magic on me, but I get too far away for most of it to go off. After I aggro'd them all, the MNK Chi Blasted the NM and they proceeded to kill it while I ran with the other mobs. They killed it before virtually anyone was killed of our NPC team, and then I just continued my path toward the Rune to exit us.

Easy work. A few extra tidbits to note though: If you don't have w.legs, you will probably get hit a little bit more with magic casts I'd imagine when you train the NM. I don't know if you have to have the powder boots on while the effect is used, but if not, you could bring 2 powder boots, or sub THF and use the effect the first time and equip the second pair of boots while you're running and use em before you pull the NM (or flee). With both a secondary powder boots, or even w.legs, be sure not to run too fast out of range and lose your train cause they lose hate pretty easily and if you're not fast enough killing the NM they could catch up to the NM and hit your melee.

    Re: Trio Assault Tier6-10

    This is the basic procedure:

    1. Start fishing next to one of the 4 fisherman NPCs
    2. After you fish up and kill 4-5 mobs, the dialogue of all 4 NPCs changes. 3 of them will be obviously displeased, and one of them will be pretty happy. Continue fishing and killing next to the happy guy.
    3. After fishing up and killing 4-5 mobs next to that guy, he will provide you with a clue as to where to fish for the NM. If you are us, that clue will be shitty and you will time out and lose, and your group will beg you to just save this one for last, already.
    4. Theoretically, you fish at the indicated spot, catch the NM, kill it, and turn in the temporary item to the starting NPC.

Here's a copy of the map with amazingly useful labels for reference:

Last time, Zawandat (the northeast one) said that we should fish "at the inlet directly across from me". We tried the little indentation next to him, which we figured was wrong, but to do what we thought he meant we had to take a nice 3 minute jog around the entire map. Which we did, and fished every few feet along the entire coast "across from" him. I don't know if you're supposed to immediatly fish up the NM or what, but we never got it. We're gonna hold off on this and try to bring 2 more people in order to speed up the "fish up and kill crap" phases.

Cool that makes it a bit easier to understand what to do. The clue he gave you guys seems pretty random and not so useful which was also what I was wondering about, and yeah idk if you should fish NM up right away after that clue, if you in right spot that is.

Next time for me also is gonna involve a good party of 5-6 as well just so you can kill everything fast.

That was exactly the NPC and clue we got when we beat this assault (except I think he said the inlet behind him). I just went a little ways north of him and fished up the orobon on the first cast. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to move too far from the npc to fish up the orobon. During the attempt that we lost, the northwest NPC's clue indicated an inlet a ways away, but someone ended up catching the orobon right next to him (we timed out during the fight).

    Re: Trio Assault Tier6-10

He definitely said "directly across from me", although I would hope that you are correct and we shouldn't have to move far from the "happy" NPC to fish up the Orobon. I made a trip to dictionary.com; I actually didn't know that an inlet can refer to not just the dents in the land, but also the narrow spots between two islands. So it's possible we could have moved a bit north of him and gotten it.
