    Re: Secret of Evermore

Did anyone here play Seiken Densetsu 3? I liked some aspects of it better than Secret of Mana, but the graphics and controls always felt a bit unfinished or something. And the right combination of characters makes an enormous difference in the difficulty (Grappler, Ninja, Spear-girl for a pitifully easy run).
Stat-up/down items coupled with items that gave you elemental sabres, which could be bought in large quantities at the black market, really made most of that game trivial, besides the few encounters with bosses that really didn't have a weakness, such as the Moon and Tree God beasts. I took a solo Hawk as a Nightblade through that game pretty easily. That aside, I loved Seiken Dentsetsu 3 a great deal more than Secret of Mana, and wish it had made it to North America.

Secret of Evermore was an alright game. I hated using spears though, and having to farm up alchemy ingredients or money to buy said ingredients. I pretty much spammed Crush like other people have said. Had a very funny script though, and I loved how the dog changed based on the world you were in.

I dont know what you guys are talking about, SoE and SD were both fun as hell. SoE was different. New ideas and shit, I would have loved to see them continue it. It was one of my all time fave SNES games, I still play it every now and then

That's because the game has bugs. Grappler/kevin is broken, Literally..
in wolf form, if kevin takes ANY kind of damage, his damage output doubles. in before lolSE{i know it was only square..}bugging their games

also, some class combonations were godly and some were gimp{again lolSE}, I think kevins deathhand can just raep an entire screen, and whatever hawk's dark/light was. don't remember

Pretty interesting. Maybe the NoA QA standards were a little stricter or something. Now that I think about it, SD3 and Terranigma both had pretty screwy hit detection and stuff, and were never released in America (Terranigma was released in Europe though).

Also, most of the advantage that Hawk and Lise have is because of the status up/down spells, which someone mentioned can be reproduced with buyable items. My first time through the game I used the gimpest party (Duran, Angela, Carlie) and could barely damage the last boss at all without blowing through Angela's mp. Kevin is still broken.

Yes please. I recently started playing SoM again, dusted off the SNES and have been enjoying pure bliss all over again. Started playing Lufia & The Fortress of Doom also, reminded myself of why I love the 2 of these games so much.
