You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    Stardust

Just got back from seeing this and just wanted to say was really well done. Was actually better than I thought it would be and it's THE perfect date movie if you guys needed one.

Also if nothing else you guys have to see it for Robert DeNiro's scenes. It's life-altering I swear. D:

It was just...incredible and a little frightening to behold. Wow, Robert De Niro, fucking wow. I had just seen John Travolta prancing around as an obese woman in Hairspray the week before and even that could not compare to Captain Shakespeare.

I had no idea it was based on a book, so I went and got the book soon after seeing the movie. It's...quite a bit different. And not always in a good way. I liked the book, but I loooved the movie.

I guess the previews they show on TV aren't a good thing to judge it by, because from what I've seen it screams "TACKY!" "LAME!" Old saying, judge... book... cover. Yeah all that. I'll keep an open mind if I ever see it.

ya that's why I said the movie was better than I thought it would be. I was a little hesitant but it's been a long time since a movie of that style has come out so wanted to give it a shot.

Basically if you enjoyed the Princess Bride you'd like this movie. It's nice to be able to see them making one like that.

    Re: Stardust

I saw this a few weeks ago with the gf when it first came out in theaters. She's a big Neil Gaimand fan and was very happy at the adaptation. I went in not expecting to like it very much, but we both loved the movie. It was hammy and schlocky when it wanted to be, but serious and compelling when it needed to be. I think the entire film was very well put together.

She did mention that the original novel is quite violent and gruesome compared to the film.

    Yea, Stardust was pretty amazing!
I knew it was gonna be a good movie, but when I actually saw it I was so surprised on how much better it was than I would have expected! :D
I would totally recommend it to pretty much anyone, at any age, it was just that good. [I saw it with my family, and even my mom LOVED it]

Also a bit of a Gaiman fan myself, I was pretty happy with the adaptation as well. I'm really looking forward to Coraline though. :D

There's a guy that wanted to take me to this movie, but I think he's trying to pick me up so I denied.

Very tempted now, though. The Princess Bride is my favorite movie of all time.

Bah, kinda a spoiler here. But then again, they've said it on the radio.

Great movie overall. Went with my gf, wasn't disappointed.

    Re: Stardust

    I just finished the book yesterday, and I have to say I thought the book sucked. -.-;

None of the humor from the movie was in it, Captian Shakespeare wasn't the same, then ending was stupid, the writing was blah.

REALLY surprised they were able to adapt that into a great film lmao.
