Cops suck.
People still think this and/or believe it? lol.Originally Posted by Milks

1) Not all police departments have quotas.... mine doesnt.
2) Most of us get paid to goto court... falls on a day off, and we get overtime.
3) Courts DO REQUIRE PROOF. For something as far fetched as 25 mph over the speed limit. Ask the court how the officer came to the conclusion, and tell him you saw the officer sitting at the red light not moving. For him to guess you were going 75 (Bring up there was no radar gun). It the officer said you were going 60... then its more believeable and he would probably win. However to say 75, is just retarded on his end.
You should win this one, easy.
Yeah, thats bullshit now, and it always was.Originally Posted by Boyiee

They may be corrupt scumbags, but they're the ones who decide what's going to happen to you. If you're really concerned about the ticket, get a lawyer. The legal systems in many areas are incredibly corrupt, and if you're willing to pay $250 for a lawyer, he'll "mysteriously" get you off the ticket with a $100 fine or something without you even having to show up in court.

May sound a little naive, but if you are innocent until proven guilty, then shouldn't you be ok unless the officer provides hard evidence that would show you speeding?
I've only been pulled over twice for speeding, i never really tried to dispute because both times, the cops were nice enough to write the ticket at 10 mph over the speed limit instead of the 25 mph i was actually doing![]()
Thanks for all the replies.
Misterbob, I do not want to hire a lawyer. That would mean me paying for something I didn't do. I am not paying a dime on this. Not pleading guilty, not anything.
As for a clean record, I have 1 ticket I paid on my record for not signaling, that's it. I've gotten other tickets (never speeding or anything, random shit like my headlight being out and wrong way on a one way out of a parking lot...)but gotten out of them because I know cops. Problem is I do not want to have to ask these same cops again and again for help, I feel like a douche.
I was hoping that sleeping on it would calm me down but it hasn't at all. I'm still at the point where if I see him again, I'm going to flip the fuck out, like to the point where I might get arrested. Not trying to be a tough guy or anything, I'm just so beyond frustruated about this.
To everyone saying he's not going to show in court. He was pretty adamant about telling me he'd see me in court. Almost every cop has shown up when I've had to go to court. One I straight up verbally abused in front of everyone when I got the ticket dismissed. My story with him is a great one, him telling me "If you don't like it, stay the fuck out of my town." just to start. (The man is as crooked as they come and has the worst reputation bar none in this part of Jersey.) Oh yeah, I'm in New Jersey by the way.
I also forgot to mention, my younger brother was in the car. He says I didn't go above 55 as well. But would my brother even be a credible witness?
The other cop wasn't a witness, he showed up after I was pulled over. Commonplace here that if you get pulled over, there's going to be 3 squad cars. It's that exciting for them.
Take him to court. I know in Florida and possibly where you live they have to "pace" you for at least 1 tenth of a mile holding the same speed. If he did what you said he did, he doesn't have shit for a case when they view the camera in the car and it'll get thrown out because he didn't do his job right.
I had a cop pull me over for "aggressive driving" because I passed some stoned out guy going 25 in a 45 zone. He gave me a warning and then ran my license and it came back suspended, for over 2 years. He was about to arrest me when I pulled out some papers from another ticket I had gotten years ago (Thank god it was still in my glove box) that said I had payed my ticket and reinstated my license. He and his dick partner then held me for over two hours, calling me a liar, making phone calls. They finally couldn't prove that I didn't pay the other ticket so they had to let me go, but because the other license came up suspended in their computer they took it and said I couldn't drive my car home, then gave me a ticket for driving without proof of a license ($300ish). They even stayed at my car until a friend came to pick me up to make sure I didn't drive it. At this point I was livid, poor bastard didn't know my mother was an attorney who's on a first name basis with ever judge in our county. All I had to do was sign an affidavit explaining everything that happened, didn't even have to go to court. All tickets and charges were dropped and the officer was suspended for a week for not following procedure.
tl:dr - Cop was a dick, tried to fuck me over, he got suspended.

I do that to anyone who seems to even remotely attempt to tailgate me, they usually freak out and then distance themselves from my car heh.Originally Posted by arlania

I dont know about other states, but here in MA its illegal for you to slam on your brakes..... its another one of those fucked up loophole laws here (We have tons) but.... if a dog runs in front of you, your not supposed to slam on your brakes....same if a little kid runs in front of your car. So if you slam on your brakes you can get a citation for it..... however if you hit the dog or little kid..... you get a citation.... either way, you fucked here.
*Cliff Note* Dont drive in Mass.
You're in jersey? What town/county were you pulled over in? Was it a state trooper? There is no quota.
Nope, thats a common misconception. The local Deputy Sherrif is a family friend, Cops don't have a quota, but their job is to catch people doing misdeeds. If a cop comes in and tells his boss "sorry mang, no one was doing shit," he will be fired because everyone is doing something wrong. They write in bullshit laws so they have probable cause at all times.Originally Posted by Milks
Like in my county there are laws against having anything hanging from your rearview mirror. of course everyone has something there so they don't pull you over for just that, but if they think you are doing something scandalous then they can use that as probable cause. Also there are 3 hat rules, if there are 3 or more people wearing hats in a car it is probably cause for gang affiliation. Cause Colorado is gangland central and what not.
Is it just me or do cops like always pull the "OMGz im like risking my life out here giving you M.I.P.s in the richest suburbs in the state."
I running around a local industrial park one weekend on my bike; it's got a few good turns and some straights and is about 1 mile from my house and it's closed on the weekends, so no one is out there. You can tear it up there, usually see some nice cars running around out there, haha. Some of the people that live close to it called the cops on me thoughThe dude was sitting in the middle of the road with his lights on when I came around one of the corners. He said he saw me fly by him down one of the straights, but wouldn't ticket me since he didn't have his radar on. That was 100% luck since I want to keep my license, haha.
Nope, we won't "see". Unless you are INCREDIBLY lucky and the cop doesn't show up (they are now paid quite well to show up, so not showing up is incredibly rare), you're paying something, it's that simple. Seems like you've never been ticketed before, lol.Originally Posted by Anyway
Unless you're hiring a lawyer, you're paying some type of fine. If you've never been ticketed before, you'll likely get a non-moving violation, but its still going to cost you $100+.

I'm not saying your gonna shake this completely, you may plead guilty, you may lose some points, you may go on probation, but I seriously doubt you'll pay anything.
