Actually overworld motion was based on discrete steps, so the speed thing should only be noticable in battles. Which are also turn-based, so it isn't much of a problem.

Will have to grab dosbox I think, I installed the game fine but it won't actually launch.
As for reading epic chunks of text, they'll be EPIC CHUNKS OF TEXT WRITTEN BY RAYMOND.
That's win, even if the game is shit, it'll be like hanging out with old friends :D
I wish it worked like that, but when I downloaded it about a year ago or so, the machine I ran it on was so far beyond what the game was written for that I was running around like The Flash, lol.Originally Posted by Charla
If my memory is correct, wasn't BoF3 like insanely hard?Originally Posted by Bartylby
2 was quite a bit harder for me. Especially the second last boss (the same one you see in the prologue). Of course I didn't overlevel the one time I got to the last dungeon in 2, so that might have something to do with it.
I personally found BoFIII to be insanely easy, but that might also be because I can't even remember my first playthrough of the game.
I know I ran through it a few months ago without having played it for years and it was easy as hell. I did remember a couple of things, so that helped of course, but there was a ton of stuff that I forgot and the game was still easy.
Even so, it's one of my favorite games.
Nah, outside the obvious optional content that is supposed to be insanely hard (namely the Container Yard), BoF3 isn't that bad. It's not easy the first time through, there's a fair amount of times when it gets a little rough if you don't know your way around the skills and the master system too well yet, but I wouldn't say it's hard. There's just a lot of stuff you kinda have to find out on your own because the game doesn't explicitly tell you anything about it (like finding out Influence actually works on Weretiger, or what the hell the Gross, Trance and Thorn genes actually do) that makes the game a ton easier.
Well, the gene system can be figured out with just trial and error. There are only so many combinations of 3 you can make (not to mention you don't get hardly any genes until the last quarter of the game).
And of course I just went to gamefaqs to figure it out like always.
i'm not sure if it was the fact that i was a better gamer when i played through 4 compared to 3, (i found 4 to be a joke compared to 3) i completed EVERYTHING in 4(fuck those 9 tree's with 140k life each and they run away in one turn, pain in the ASS) when i barely dented 3's "endgame" lol
story wise they were both pretty good though. a definite play if someone hasn't played before
Turambar's list of "Games which must be played before you die":
RPGs:
Xenogears
Eternal Sonata
Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy 4-8 & 12
Chrono Trigger & Cross
Non-RPGs:
SSX Tricky
Mega Man II
Devil May Cry
Super Mario 64
Devil May Cry 3
God of War 1 & 2
Mega Man X 1 & 4
Super Mario World
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Super Mario Bros. 3
Metal Gear Solid 1-3
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Gran Turismo 3 and/or 4
Dracula X: Rondo of Blood
Castlvania 3: Dracula's Curse
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight (aka Symphony of the Night)
So many genres in that list, it really can't apply to everyone (I don't think I'd enjoy Gran Turismo, Street Fighter Alpha, SSX or Rainbow Six quite as must as you did, for instance).

Haha, I definitely agree on that here. Up until last year, I randomly went back to BoF III to complete whatever I was missing from 'end game'. The Goo King Sword drop prepared me for FFXI.Originally Posted by Bartylby
I third Valkyrie Profile 1 & 2. Definitely some of the greatest games I played.
If I could go really really old school, I would say Phantasy Star IV. My friend still says "Wow, you never played that?" to this day.
The first time I played a Phantasy Star was the original one on a Master System/GameGear emulator like 8 years ago. I got bored and stopped sometime before you get off the first planet for the first time.
No one has mentioned Mario RPG yet?! 8)
What can be cooler than getting an invincible star and running through enemies without actually fighting them an leveling up?
Well...I guess EarthBound had a somewhat similar system to that.
gogo Axem Rangers, you mighty-morphin' Axem Rangerssssssss!
I can't believe I forgot this game.
Legend of Dragoon.
Such a good game.
