Wanted to have a thread about this in general discussion.
This game is coming out in a week, pretty psyched up for it especially since the story is so damn good in the first two volumes (and the gameplay is really good too, way better than the first series ever was..)

What does everything thing about the series in general and this game specifically? (I know some people here have played the JP version already..)

Did they ever explained how they programmed their mmo ingame (or in the anime)? I want to see how you can create something like that using "if" "while" and "for".

I'm looking forward to getting a new weapon to play with just to see how it does. Hopefully the dop. weapons most of us got aren't too overpowered at the start of this one. And we'll get to unlock the last weapon i still personal have no idea who it is lol

I played the first series and I loved it, but I haven't gotten to try the new one out yet. Might pick them all up at once and play through them when the 4th comes out.

This game looks so promising in comparsion to the first two. I'm really looking forward to being able to fuck around with Xth form overall. Sadly, I was messing around on stage6 and saw most of the japanese CG for vol.3, but I'm still looking forward to the story progression ^^

Is there any reason to finish the mini sidequests from all the different doctors etc. in Volume 1? I only finished the 7 blacklist PKs to get that awesome weapon, and killed the doppleganger for that key item... I also finished the thing with the mech grunty but the rewards were stupid, and the one with the chimchims but my problem with that one is that the doctor just keeps telling me to come back at a later time, and then in Vol.2 the game cancels the damn quest so idk what's going on as far as that goes.

Are there any important hidden items/characters that I can get by finishing those quests though? (like the one that wants me to hand out flyers and stuff like that?) Or is doppleganger the only important thing to do in the first title?

And if we're already on the subject, how about the 2nd game?

I completed them in Vol. 1 and honestly you really didn't get anything amazingly worthwhile in any respect. Outside of the Bike quest as well as Blacklist PKs in the second version, I still don't think the others matter. According to what I've read and seen, the flyer quest gives you nothing amazing as well as the chim-chim quest is essentially the same reward. Mecha grunty is still the same crap, too. So really not much deviation from the first volume at all.

You get a party member for doing the PK quest in one of the games right? I think I read somewhere that Natsume from the original series joins you and now she's a crazy PK or some shit, but I believe it's in the 3rd installment.

So other than that no reason to worry about those silly quests eh? I also didn't cap all my books in the first version, i'll just do them in the 2nd.

Only real reason to do them is for the Ryu Books. The Lucky Animal quest is Vol. 1 gave some Robe you couldn't find anywhere else. Blacklist PK event gave those dual swords that you can't find anywhere else. Granted you can max the Ryu Books without 'some' of these items but it just makes it easier. Also as far as I know, Bikman is still fucking useless.

As for Natsume, yeah, she's the 8th or so (?) and final Chaotic PK you're sent to PKK. After you PK her she ends up joining you. Not really spoilers but some people don't want to know for enjoyment I guess. She apparently is the same Natsume from the original .Hack games because apparently Piros and her recognize each other.

On a side note, who do you think you're going to go for at the Max Affection Event?

I'm going with Alkaid 100% I'll check the other cutscenes with the other characters out on a separate save but if the Forest of Pain and other sidequests are available only after the game is done/affection event over, gonna choose Alkaid.
