Questions for Shield Skill?

Hi guys, I like to know more about shield skill.

Monsters that are attacking you in front. You will block and skill up.

But if you are kiting a monster, do your shield still come into used as the monster is attacking behind you?

Do you still block the attack?

While kiting you cannot, the monster is not in front of you.

Imagine directly in front of you being 0 degrees. Basically, in order to proc a shield block, the attack has to come from 45 degrees to your left or right. Wyrms seem to be an exception, but they're actually not - it's just because of where you stand when you tank them.

You can kite and get your shield to proc at the same time, I've done this in Dynamis for a long time.

Just lock onto the target, hit 1st person mode and unlock and bingo, you're actually running backwards at full speed.
You can't turn around, or Shield won't proc, but its nice when you know the area.

What mobs is best for skilling shield skill?
Mobs that are monk class? Like Mandragora?

Monk mobs are good, so are Chigoe. It all really depends what level your shield is.

Essentially, you'll want -dmg gear, some defense food, and you're good 8)

Depending on your level, any MNK mobs are great.

I did Puks in the Den of Rancor as PLD/RDM, 72-75, to keep it capped, finished in on Dolls in Sky.
