Honestly, SAMs have been on the edge of brokenness for a while now. They kept buffing it with some powerful abilities like Hasso, Seigan, Meditate recast is a great tier 1 upgrade, Overwhelm is probably THE best tier 2 upgrade, their WSes have the best mods in the game, they can wear a lot of great gear (IE Haidate), etc. It just took the general 2h buff to be over the top.

It was only a matter of time.

Sam's got alot of small simple abilities that add up to a really good boost - but let's be honest, there's parses showing less than peak sams getting their ass kicked just like there were parses of less than peak monks/wars getting *their* asses kicked pre-update. no AH sam is going to waltz in and rape all over a BB monk or ridill war.

I think the sam thing is being blown out of proportion slightly - is sam obviously the clear winner here? yeah they are, they were the best 2hander pre-update, is anyone *really* surprised they're the best 2hander post-update?

maybe SE really meant for sam to be where they are right now. (excluding whatever change it is they make to cover their 'known issues'. edit:which may in fact be quite significant for peak play.)

Funny thing is people are whining about game balance while they send 2-3 Kraken DRKs to Zerg down HNMs with Souleater/Blood Weapon.

People exploit game mechanics all the time. What makes everyone so sure this isn't intended to work this way with some minor tweaking needed?

I was going to bring up how important it is for sam to have merits in overwhelm, 5/5 med, 5/5 store tp, saotome kotes, rare/ex gear, hagun or soboro depending on your fight/mood, and other things that aren't easily obtained. AH sams don't have those which makes them ah sams. Then there's the managing you tp part, and working well with others in long fights, well I'm guessing this is purely a merit thing so dur dur dur ws dur dur med dur zerk hasso.

And of course, none of those items are as hard to obtain as BB and ridill unless those items were just picked up along the way depending on your LS and server. Same could be said about other gear but BB and ridill has a smaller bottle neck. Like THFs and thf knife pre sozu patch.

Eh? Don't need Feint for it. Just makes stuff easier.

Only thing you need is triple BRD rotation for 6 songs.

I am speculating that by "fix" they mean to adjust the fact that you can equal your crit max with regular melee assuming your attack vs the mobs defense is high enough. Maybe change it to 3.0 and 4.0.

You really can't argue it... while overwhelm is good, feint is amazing and helps everyone in the alliance out. allows all jobs to drop acc and focus on ATK and other gear; nothing can compare.

There has been that "you got less damage but more utility" argument that was around prepatch. When I read that, two persons came to mind. One MNK/NIN I've been doing stuff with more recently and a DRK/(NIN|WAR) I know since EU release. The MP sink of both is actually the MNK. The DRK knows how and when to use Drain/Drain II/Dread Spikes (or even Blood Weapon when the situation is really bad), I'll toss him a Regen III and everything is fine. Now, the MNK manages to pull hate, doesn't manage to keep his Utsusemi up sometimes and really sucks up a lot of MP.

The DRK loses out when hes not able to cast on stuff like Colibris with out it casting it right back. Counter productive..
