An auction house SAM shouldn't outparse or outperform a r/ex, pimped out 1H.

i've been seeing this a lot. what defines an AH SAM?

Hagun, Pole Strap, Tiphia Sting
Turban + STR Helm for WS, Peacock/Sea Gorget, Brutal, Bushi
Haubergeon +1, O Kote/Alky Bracelets, 2 x STR Rings
Forager's Mantle, Warwolf Belt, Haidate x 2, JSE Feet

whose fault is it that SAM's can't use Adaberk, Hecatomb or Homam, that their best weapon (like Maneater, Blau Dolch), ranged, body and hands, back, waist pieces are all AH-able?

i guess the real question is, what's a non-AH SAM supposed to look like that should parse similar to a pimped out 1H. before this patch, AH NINs were outparsing lots of 2 handers too.

If you remove all R/EX:

No Shura Gear, Sea Gorgets, Brutal, Bushi, no merits [which you listed]

Also I am no SAM but the best meditate setup involves r/ex right?

What I am saying is someone can do "DING 75 SAM!" and outdamage people who have put 2-3 years into a job...i find that total crap.

Overwhelm is probably THE best tier 2 upgrade

I'd have to go with feint.

BV2 meleeburns would not exist without it.

Eh? Don't need Feint for it. Just makes stuff easier.

Only thing you need is triple BRD rotation for 6 songs.

You really can't argue it... while overwhelm is good, feint is amazing and helps everyone in the alliance out. allows all jobs to drop acc and focus on ATK and other gear; nothing can compare.

Feint, in terms of overall usefulness for the alliance, is imo the best tier 2 - even with a 6 bard rotation we use feint.

those people put 2-3 years on that job because of the drop rate of stuff like Ridill, E Body and N Head.

for Med you need AF2 Hands, and AF1 head, but it's ridiculous to say an AH SAM doesn't have AF1.

even if you take out Brutal, Bushi, you'd end up with Attack/Triumph Earrings, Chiv Chain, the only Shura worthwhile is the legs, the simple replacement of which i think is probably still AF1 pants.

i have never seen any MNK, Ridill WAR getting out DoT'd by a SAM with AF1 Legs.

I guess it depends on what people mean by 'AH' - if it implies only gear that can be (indirectly) bought, then the sea gorget, bushi, and haidates are out, since you have to actually obtain drops to get these. brutal might be out too, since you have to have sea for that, otherwise this is probably about right (maybe more dusk?).

I suspect alot of people mean basically what you put, +rajas ring which is (let's be honest) alot more than most people mean when they say "AH ninja" or "AH war" (since the only super obvious items missing in that set besides rajas are Justice Torque, a divisor/sniper+1 and Ace's helm) whereas most of the time an AH war is missing adaberk/ridill/byakko's axe/b.haidate/torque/brutal/(suppa?)

I think some of the hysteria is coming from this image of an 'AH sam' though, rather than any actual situations where a truly 'AH sam' is outparsing well geared melee.

the best leg piece after haidate(s) is probably AF+1 (str+5, store TP+4) not least because with chiv+brutal, this lets you use other/better feet.

in dynamis sandoria, this gem of a SAM with hachiman body/feet/legs/hands, wyvern helm, triumph & merman earrings amemet+1, warwolf belt, spike necklace hagun and that dex+2 bow did only slightly worse than a basically 100% pimped BB mnk decked out with everything minus faith torque, whiteboxes and spharai.

Oh also the sam never changed gear. Ever.

yeah it was dynamis. but still, it kinda scared me >.>

I was under the impression an "AH" job was just synomous to cheap.

But you can't spend them without Sea. And there are AH DRGs stuck on the promys outparsing BB MNKs in KRT.

Dynamis is in Sam's favor. There are enough pauses for pulls, and such that sam's med recast is just ticking away waiting on bursts of weaponskill management. Mobs dying so fast probably won't give mnk the chance to build up enough tp or dot enough to keep up with sam's weaponskills. I like sam over dualwield war for dynamis because of this. It at least give me the illusion that i'm doing more dmg.

in the same parse, the sam who's almost as well geared as me{ i was on DRG for once, not my sam} did basically double the damage of the 4/5 hachimanz sam >.>
